The Beautiful Packed Abandoned Sprigg House in The Mountains of Tennessee *Built in 1885

- This beautiful old farm house was built in the late 19th century. Built sometime between 1880-1885, for a modest family of farmers in the eastern mountains of Tennessee. The families main crops were cotton, tobacco and corn. They also had a handful of livestock including sheep and swine. The house would remain with same family most of its existence, passing hands over the generations until in the 1980’s when it was finally sold to a new family from New York seeking an escape from city life. Unfortunately the last members of the family passed away in the early 2000’s and the house was in need of some large repairs as well as maintenance and updates to bring it into the modern century. Sadly no one with the funds ever stepped up and recently the house was sold too land developers and is most likely in its final days now. There are large plans of building a subdivision of modern custom homes in its place and soon the house will only be a distant forgotten memory of times gone by. Glad I could document the house on film before the sun sets on it for a final time. Thank you for watching! Like and leave a comment below for me if you enjoyed! I really appreciate it, thank you!

i bet those houses would have been very peaceful before vehicles. Imagine just hearing the sounds of nature every day and nothing else.
Those footsteps scared the heck out of me. Sure sounded human. Thanks Kappy.
Yeah they startled me too!! My guess is some big bird but who knows! Thank you for watching!! :)
The footsteps in the first sounded more like a person than a bird. You are very brave kappy!❤😊
Yeah they were loud for a vulture I’ll admit that! Very strange, thanks for watching! :)
I didn’t know we were getting a haunted house exploration this morning but here we are!
Seriously, I was pleasantly surprised as I love haunted houses! The mountains of Tennessee can be a scary place :) Love how it just stops when he says something.
@@melissah4515 yes THAT is exactly what gave me chills!
@@brendatomlinson yeah that was definitely a mystery to me! My guess is just animals, maybe a big vulture! Thanks for watching!! :)
Sounds to me like the old farmer that lived there never left!😂 I like how you stayed calm. Great job man
I hear sounds all the time in these places and a lot of the time it’s just animals who have moved in, with the absence of people! But have no clue what that was! Thanks for watching!! :)
The basement under the farmhouse was a cold storage room for canned and dry foods. My grandma had one very much like it. The sounds were very like someone walking in heavy work boots or riding boots. Creepy but cool house. Sad to see it go.
Beautiful example of Timber Framed Carpenter Gothic. This is the house everyone wishes they had right now. Kept up properly these houses last hundreds of years
Just think of all the memories those houses 🏘 hold.We Love going back in time with you. Great job kappy 😊
Well said! Thank you for the kind words and watching!! :)
Beauties both houses. Sounded like footsteps in the attic, creepy. Love the old windows and woodworks. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Damn, Kappy! Birds in the attic?!? If so, they must’ve been emus or ostrich! 😂 That one kinda freaked me out a little!! 😊
Yeah was definitely a big vulture or something! Atleast that’s my guess! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
Those loud footsteps sounded like a person traversing stairs or walking heavily. Great video. Loved the houses and land and views.
Interesting that there's no bathroom. Did you notice an outhouse? Definitely sounded like human steps to me! Thank you for sharing this gem.
There must have been. The family came from New York he said. They probably removed the bath and took it with them when they left, or someone stole it. I used to live in a Victorian house in London, and someone wanted to buy the toilet, cos it was an ornate porcelain square thing.
Just a bird?? Umm sounded like some strong footsteps on my end… intriguing! What a cool old house, love those upstairs windows that reach the floor !
Whenever I hear loud traffic in the background, I’m reminded of that old Jethro Tull song with the lyrics “ looks like my farm is a freeway”
Well said! And good song! That’s happening all over the USA! Thank you for watching!! :)
million dollars and a pickup truck
Another beautiful old house! Loved the simplicity of the mantel. I feel so sad for this home.
That sounded like the heavy footsteps of a person in the first house.
@jameshaberkamp5927 👀!!
He might run into illegals one day. 🫣
@@blaze3884I heard them too. Loud and clear.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That is what I thought too. I'm now wondering not necessarily haunted but a soul that is not at rest and left behind
it definately sounded like footsteps and loud bangs too at 7:34 till 7;54
Sounded like footsteps. Not a bird. Hope they can salvage the doors and mantel at least.
The woodwork in the first house is phenomenal ❤❤❤❤ a testament to craftsmanship. I cannot get over the ceilings. Thanks Kappy for another fabulous find.
I love the old houses that still look original. 😊
Those vultures are wearing some heavy boots 😂
I was thinking they must weigh about a hundred lbs.. lol dam big birds.
@@reneemohnen8657 😂😂😂
It makes me so sad to see these beautiful homes that just get forgotten and they deteriorate away what a shame I love old houses, especially old farm houses and these of houses are so pretty. I love the front porches. I love the trim the locks on the door the porcelain door knobs. It just breaks my heart that nobody cared enough to restore them until they’re too far gone.
They are pretty but I think they are too big, and no-one needs a house this size these days. They are like mansions, and often in a field, so there will be no facilities or neighbours. I wouldn't want to be in the middle of nowhere.
You find the most beautiful old homes Kappy ❤
I really try my best! Thank you for watching!! :)
First house was charming old lady.
Definitely sounded like footsteps.
I am currently restoring a pre-civil mansion that was part of the Underground Railroad. I have absolutely experienced paranormal activity in that house. There have even been paranormal teams there to investigate before I purchased it. I don’t want to give the name of my house because it can be very easily found online. It has its own Wikipedia page, listed on Google Maps and also listed on the Registrar of Historic Places. Many people have had experiences at the mansion and property. The thing that makes it even more eerie is it is out in the country on 6 acres so you really feel the loneliness.
Like looking at your videos Kappy. God is Good!!!
Both of these places were great to see. Tired, broken down from misuse, and neglect. Both places seemed kind of sad. But theres some beauty left, and I'm glad you toured them before all is lost. Thanks for taking me along Mr Kappy!!!!!
Those footsteps sound creepy and both houses are beautiful it sad to see those houses just sitting there to rot great video kappy and have a happy 4th of July.
Thank you Kappy for 2 more beautiful houses. Its very hard to think someone lived in the second one back in 2015-2016 and left all there belongings behind.Didnt look like they lived upstairs at all.
First house had some pretty solid doors, not the cheap hollow ones they sell now. And um, Kappy, I’m sure you don’t believe but the attic had a big footed heavy spirit, and not residual either as he answered you and said “no”. Thank you as always! You make my day every time you post 😊
I would've been making a new door about the first time there was a big thump from nowhere! The second one would've sent me out a window! The third, fourth and the footsteps would have required a change of underclothes! You're a braver person than I'll ever be, dude! Surely you know that was NOT a vulture?!
So glad you didn't climb that ladder!
That makes three definite ghosts you've disturbed, Kappy! Maybe you should start doing haunted house videos, too!
Oh, not another one! Those thumps don't sound any better than the last ones! Run, boy, run!
A big vulture was my guess lol! Usually animals move in to these places, with the absence of people! Getting almost shot at a few videos back was more scary to me lol! I’ll take ghosts or birds over that any day!😅 thank you very much for the kind words and watching!! :)
How do you know it wasn't just squatters, or some runaway living in an isolated house, assuming he'd never be found. Why assume it is ghosts every time you hear a sound?
It's amazing on how these old houses are still standing. Things were made to last a very long time.
I want the first house. Thanks Kappy. You never disappoint.
Same I loved all the open land around it! Thank you for watching! :)
I have noticed in some videos you are revisiting a house after some years passed by. Do you ever go to one of those to find it has been purchased and renovated? A tour of a house with a new life with flashbacks inserted of the previous condition could show viewers what is possible with the right attitude and determination. These two houses are potential candidates for such a vision!
The second set of footsteps was an animal for sure. BUT the first set...That was no bird unless he was wearing shoes!
Really liked both of these houses. Did anyone notice the door trim in the 2nd house (upstairs)? Had kind of a cool retro 20's feel. Also really liked the secret staircase - all these hidden gems. Thank you for another awesome video.
The second house, I wasn't expecting only 8-Years Abandoned.
I was thinking late 90s.
Same here! Really shocked me! Thank you for watching!! :)
Beautiful Kappy! And the last home you brought us was a stunner! You never disappoint! Thanks so very much for your hard work! Stay safe. 😊
Really appreciate the kind words! Thank you very much for watching! :)
Those football sheets are straight out of the 70s, I had a set when I was a kid, bedspread and curtains to match.
What a pretty house! It's in remarkably good condition for being abandoned 50 years!
3:35 Would I ever love to have that mantle for the fireplace in our home! What a beauty!
6:10 It was common in these older homes to have the basement only accessible from an exterior door or trap door. The Victorian farmhouse I grew up in was like that.
And the second house is even prettier with its gingerbread trim. I sincerely wish modern home builders would get back into using such pretty details. Homes now are so bland and they are completely lacking in personality. There sure was an awful lot of stuff left behind!
After hearing all those strange noises in the upstairs of the first house, I was kind of hoping you would have climbed up that rickety ladder to see what was making the noise. But it could have been a large bird that may have startled you and caused you to fall off of the ladder and we wouldn't have wanted that. It appeared that the whole upstairs was "painted" with bird droppings so there must have been some big birds in there. Thanks for sharing another fun video!
woww kapppy you are my favorite urban xplorer i heard those foot steps i was like omg eeegads but again it could of beeen a vulture or a raccoon or possum awesome finds in those old abandoned houses thanks so much mym gratefuly deadicated friend roll away the dewww kim
I love the old door hardware and stained glass! Old leaded windows! I would love to live in an old house out in the country like one of these!!
I remember flowered linoleum from when I was a kid in mine & also my grandma's house in the 50s
This reminds me so much of my childhood home. It was an old cabin that was expanded in a clearing in the woods. There was no noise but birds frogs etc. It was beautiful.
such a great nostalgia, they don't make houses like that anymore...
Spring is starting in Tennessee!
It was a few months ago when I filmed this! Thanks for watching!! :)
Every Saturday, I look forward to watching you and the beautiful/beauty of each abandoned find. Both homes had so much charm. The first house you showed definitely had vibes. It sounded like there was a little kid running upstairs.
How nice, neither place had been covered in spray paint. I liked the first place better because the clutter in the second one was very distracting. But both were pretty nice places at one time. Second house had some nice looking furniture left in it. Sad there are so many homes just left behind because no one cares any more. Thank you, Kappy
Love the nature scenes at the end of video. So peaceful. Now after they build, it will be like any other subdivision. I grew up in country, houses far apart An d this is peace no one can buy. Treasure the time. Thank you, Kappy!
That door sounds like a scary movie.
Both of these had some strange noises. Scary! Thanks for showing them.
Big Bird couldn't make that much noise! Didn't look like that tall of an attack either. That was awesome! Thanks Kappy!
Hi Kappy!! Happy Saturday!! These houses were amazing! Thank you so much for taking us on this explore today! I love the detail in the first house. I could just imagine people living in these homes with kids, the hustle, and the bustle that would be going on everyday. So sad to see them lonely and empty, but thank you so much for sharing them with us! Have a great weekend and happy exploring!!!!✌️❤️
The house so far isn’t in terrible shape but lots of work to put it back to it’s former glory
Another great video. Kappy, just wondering, tell us what's the creepiest/scary thing you've ever seen in these houses? And, have you ever actually ran into another person while you were filming?
Just jumped in! Love that beadboard ceiling!
That was an angry spirit stomping upstairs
The remnants of wall paper and flooring show that the first house must have been very pretty. What you heard sounded like footsteps, not an animal--creepy! In the second house I really liked the molding around the doors. It had an unusual shape to it. Thanks for the video.
That screen door though...lol
Wow, this place is so awesome! Someone save it please!!!!
Not only does that sound like footsteps but it sounds like someone coming down the attic 🪜, that gives me goosebumps😮 Beautiful old house though, great explore❤
Beautiful places!! The first one didn’t seem to bad off…. Loved the back porch… the second one was very sad like someone didn’t have any family left when they passed…. Thank you once again Kappy!!!
Was that vulture from a Tex Avery cartoon? I mean, that thing must've been wearing a pair of size 12 cowboy boots!
@7:56 I was worried...lol.
Great video. ☺
Hi Kappy, Saturday is my favorite morning of the week watching your wonderful videos ! I know you shouldn't take things from abandoned homes, but on this particular video you should have taken the old newspaper from the first house. That is something that belongs in a library ! Kappy we do appreciate that every week you have an interesting video for us. Be safe❤
Thank you, Kappy. You sure know how to find them! Poor old lovely places!
Nice ceramic door knob on the second house ! Wow! Still lots of stuff left inside.
I want those wood ceilings and all the trim around the rooms. The doors too. The basement reminds me of my mamau’s house in Ky.
Oh that photograph! It was popular in the mid 90s to early 2000 for grown children to get portrait of themselves to give to their parents as a present. That’s what that looked like to me . They were all adults
Love the Staircase❤
Hi Kappy! Loved the homes, your a brave soul cuz I heard noises in both of those houses that sounded like someone was there 😂, your braver than me! Loved the pictures at the end, absolutely beautiful. Those red and purple flowers and the little brook and that bigger stream I could listen to it flowing all day. Landscape shots were beautiful also. Thank you for sharing 🌻
The first house had the most beautiful door & window casings!!! The unpainted, original stained doors were spectacular too!!!
The second house made me sad as it appeared to me to be abandoned…wasting & letting the antique wooden furniture go to waste😰😞😢 Thank you Kappy for sharing these wonderful treasures!!! I loved them 👍🙏💕
Always a joy to see a new video from you
I appreciate that! Thank you for watching!! :)
Some of those old Ball jars have some value
18:41 Check out that tattered curtain blowing in the wind. Wow.
These old houses just were built to last the wood all through the house is just remarkable how stuff was built back in the 20's and that paper you found from 1925 might be worth saving might have some value..
U never disappoint.❤❤❤
Thanks Kappy for showing this really neat old farm house. It's a shame it's left to rot. You just know it was beautiful back in the day.
Completely agreed! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
I love this place ❤
Second house spookie.
Thx 4 the ride
.much luv
Carry on
Nice ceramic door knob on the second house
Hi Kappy 😁 Very interesting video! Loved them both and the nature scenes were so perfect 👍 Wish there was a time travel craft that would be fun to visit certain places, but still be able to have some easy convenient things to take along. Kappy I do believe you’re tagged, both places have that issue. The locations are beautiful, hence the term “Run for the hills!” Would be cool to see the old plantation house my family had,not sure if it exists today but I know you would like it.💯👍🎉Thanks for the visit there.🥰
LARGE HOUSE BIG ROOMS AND STAIR CASES TO HEAVEN ,, WOW!! INTERESTING HOUSE THE WALKING SCARY ,,, GHOSTS ..HA!! THX. KAPPY..
Hi Kappy, thank you for bringing us two more interesting old houses. The first one had beautiful woodwork especially the ceilings and the trim around the windows. I just wanted to start cleaning out the second house, I am not a fan of clutter. I think you had some ghosts following you around today. Stay safe out there!
Second set of stairs? Wow!
Beautiful
If we look through the mess that most likely has been left by the most current owners or renters, We can see its original state and imagine the first family or families that lived beautifully in that home. Now it is just a house but at one time was a beautiful home. Thank you so much for walking us through this time capsule.
!. Beautiful old doors and mantels, as well as the window casings. This house felt too boxy and dark when you first went in, very constrictive in some places. 2. Those old door knobs and locks, gorgeous. This house feels lighter than the first. Probably due to the difference in paint used. I have a feeling this house had some squatters in its time. I really liked this second house.
The noise was probably just vultures. You can see all the bird poop all over everything, so you know the birds are there.
These creeped me out more than your explores usually do. Definite footsteps in the first one. I grew up in a 2 story house that had those "footsteps" that would stop the second you started up the stairs to investigate. This went on for about a year. They eventually stopped. Other weird things happened in that house at around the same time.
Hello Kappy, already like it,love good front porch, and staircase, beautiful old house, love the back porch even better, liked the layout of it ,oh a second one great,I liked second home too, they remind me of how they were
Thanks for exploring these old places. There were some really old pieces of furniture. The 1926 paper may have been kept for certain articles usually deaths of families or friends. People use to save stuff like that. From it being ransacked could have come out of some of the dresser drawers. That was too human sounding for me!! I’d died right on the spot. Your second house I would have loved to gotten a rooting from that bush. Think it’s an azalea. Long time since I’ve seen a beautiful red one. Be safe and thank you
The second house was sad to see everything the owners or relatives just left
Yes, I heard that. Sounded like a person or an animal moving/walking. Squatters get in these places sometimes. I see a lot of antique furniture in the second house, those are worth saving. Incredible and strong staircases in the past.
Hi mate another great job.
Rob Australia
Both ole houses are huge and nice.. really liked the old wooden ceilings in first place and didn't have to be fancy to make a statement.. always been a fan of French doors, they are ole style and Victorian look.. I don't understand how when folks move out or abandon house, how in the world does all that trash and junk just get scattered bout in the floors, they must just sling everything grabbing n Go 😆.. thank u for another awesome video.. I know old plantation and Victorian homes are getting scarce find..
Hi Kappy. Loved the house and all of the woodwork. Someone was totally walking around above you. I swear it sounded like someone walking with boots. I am not big into paranormal but I know exactly what it sounds like when someone is walking upstairs in an old house. And to top that off, as soon as you asked it went silent... The second house outright gave me the creeps. For sure looked to have been empty longer than 2016. Thanks for sharing.
Both very interesting. The first loved the original features left. No traces of kitchen or bathroom. Strange. Second one crazy to think someone lived there until 2016! Those rooms that you have pass through to get to next room are a pain for bedrooms. Had that as a child. My brother’s room was like a pass through to our parents. Poor kid didn’t get to play in his room very much as our dad worked shift work. Lots of animal activity. Kind of scary. Thanks for sharing. ❤
I binge watched so many videos of yours and didn't subscribe somehow and JUST rediscovered you. Very happy rn and now I gotta catch up!
Ty Kappy 4 more of ur great work and effort 2 show us these vids. Both houses were beautiful. Sad tho. Plz b safe out there.
