Thank you, I do my chicken soup over 2 days, day 1, boil the carcass & allow to cool, next morning you can remove the solidified fat from the top of the pot, I then strain liquid off & de-bone the carcass & pretty much go with your recipe with no skin, bone or fat. thanks for your uploads Melissa, I hope both you, Joe & all your family members stay safe during these upcoming dark times, all the best from Scotland.
Very good, a nice looking basic soup dish, Joe will be eating well when he gets back, thanks for sharing. I'm sure it's even better with that blanket of snow covering the driveway.
Even though I have only seen a very few of your recipes they look really good. You cook a lot like me. This soup is like mine. You do a good job with your channel. Keep it up.I will look for others.
Thank you for sharing. I don't know if here in CA that our carrots are crappy, but yours sure look super orange. There is nothing much better than homemade chicken soup on a cold. Hope you and Joe are enjoying your time together as we all shelter in place. Please be safe, but don't stop posting all these recipes. Keep doing what you do.
Wow, that sure looks tasty, gonna have to cook that soon. I enjoy, As the Rooster Crows, Northern Seclusion and Joe and Zack Survival. Prior to watching your video, I had just finished watching Joe build the pantry and cook some delicious looking meals at the home in LA. Praying that God keeps all of us safe during this pandemic.
We just watched this video and started getting so hungry! Looks so good and we are going to make this for sure. Keep up the awesome work! We all love you Joe, and the puppers ❤
Great looking soup! Comfort food is perfect for these crazy, unprecedented times. Thanks for the video and the update about Joe. Prayers of comfort and protection, sent to you both.🙏🏻✨☺️
Hi Melissa... love you blue baking set, and almost for nothing... I make it as well, but I call mine chicken soup stew and I use a powdered soup base with parsley in it.. I get from a bulk selling store which just recently shut down... I have a restaurant source that I got it from before the bulk store appeared on the scene.. I also make it with a small head of shredded cabbage and add a can of diced tomatoes to it and a lot of fresh dill weed.... yu mmy....
I really enjoyed your video on Chicken Soup ALWAYS looking for different ways of making different dishes.Enjoy u talking about the farm and Chucky.Be safe you and Joe and Family BLESSINGS
Love chicken soup... Thanks you..Joe have a safe trip home.. Melissa hope you are feeling better. Your soup will help..Love and Hugs from Sapulpa, Oklahoma
It is good to know you are okay, and getting along at the farm house while Joe is in Louisiana! The Homemade Chicken Soup is good for the soul. Please take care Mellisa.
Chicken soup is perfect for right now. Comforting and delicious. I just made a crockpot of chicken vegetable stock and froze gallon bags so I can have chicken soup any time I want. It requires a lot of salt! I use some non salt seasoning too. I could live on soup. I absolutely love lots of cooked carrots too. This kettle could feed a big family. (I always struggle to skim the darn fat off without chilling the soup). Our grocery stores are calm...but I have the freedom to go during the day. Still shaking my head over the TP shortage. Thanks for showing the weather! Our snow disappeared quickly here in Otter Tail County, MN.
That looks so delicious, Melissa. I'm not even hungry but you've got me wanting to go cook something yummy. Chicken soup is coming up in my near future.
To me, homemade chicken soup is the epitome of comfort food! I used to make noodles for it but when that became an issue for my health, switched to ride. I have never made it with potatoes but the way they thickened your broth was lovely. I liked that you didn't peel them either.
Darn, wish I had a whole chicken on hand. Good soup to have handy. Always chuckle when I see you measuring your ingredients. Bet you don’t normally any more than I do!😊
Nice easy recipe . Thanks . Glad to see that Joes coming back home . Can't get much done with what's going on . Thanks for the update on the house . You plan on selling it . Good move . Property taxes and a monthly hydro bill are no fun when you're not there .
Woke up for a bit so I decided to watch some of your cooking videos. When I go to the store this week I think I’ll make sure that I have everything for your soup here to try. I have not made this yet, and it has been cold here so it’s a good choice. I had forgotten how you talk so easy to us as you go along. Very comforting Melissa. Well, I will attempt sleep again! Night nite girl and Happy Halloween !🎃 🤠 👺 💀 👻 🎃. Tc Vicki from Iowa 🦋❄️
Hi Melissa, another good recipe. I know what you mean no fun cooking for yourself I to enjoy cooking for my husband who totally loves it.Oh here's a little tip for limp celery soak it in cold water for a little while & it will get crisp again. Take care & stay well.🙂🇨🇦🥣
You're makin me hungry! I don't blame you for not wanting to go to the store, I haven't been out of the house for almost 2 weeks. With my health I can't trust it. Praying all of you will come through this craziness sane and whole.
Yum! Looks good and an easy dish to make. Welcome to Minnesota hun, March is our snowiest month usually right around tourney times, hockey and basketball. How is Joanie doing? Enjoy the last of winter and can’t wait for the next recipe.
Joanie is doing good! Trying to keep her chilled out is hard, she is such a high energy dog and she's never had to walk on a leash so that is something new for her
I just like getting that first layer off, they've been in the dirt...I guess it just makes me feel better. LOL I do wash them first also. This would probably serve 5 to 8 people
I love chicken soup, with/without crackers or bread and even at 6:20 am this looks and sounds good, lol. I've never used Cajun seasoning in anything but I would like to try it. Is it spicy?? Unfortunately I love spicy foods but my colon always lets me know it isn't pleased, lolol. I'm glad Joe will be home today. I was worried he would get stuck down there and you would be alone during these crazy times. I know you have those dogs and cats but that isn't the same. Great video Mrs Melissa!!!! Tyfs God you
Chickens like that are great in the instant pot! Will cook from frozen in no time! Glad you are feeling better Melissa!😌 take care!🦋💚 ...just a little hint....put a wet paper towel under your cutting board so it won’t move around!🙂
That soup looks so tasty ! Perfect thing for the cold weather along with a side of biscuits or cornbread. I love your channel and I look forward every week to your recipes. It is bad here also with the Corona virus. Stores and businesses are shutting down here in South Carolina.
Thank you so much. Things are still open here in MN but where I work in WI everything is shut down as of yesterday. :( Was still a lot of people on the roads when I went in to work though
Looks good Melisa, I'm thinking about making it. I've been making my own chicken soup, normally I make it cream of chicken with veggies and sour cream and hot sauce, and then at the very end I put pepper jack cheese in the bowl and stir it in. You should try it if you like zingy and tangy hot soup.
Hello Melissa, I love your recipe as I make it a little different but I'm going to try your recipe, as I never have enough seasoning and my wife usually adds chicken seasoning but I boil like you but I deboned mine and just put the dark meat back in and my wife makes chicken salad with the white meat. I like you talking through it telling us how chunk is doing. Hows Joni doing and the chickens. Another way I go is I put a bag of frozen noodles in at the end. Love your videos. Would this recipe be considered keto ? Sorry Joe had to come back early but its nothing we can control. Just say prayers daily and we will get through this. When he goes down again can he get done in a week ?
You add some seasoning that I haven't tried, but most definitely will. I wrap my chicken in one layer of cheesecloth when making stew or soup. It makes it easier for me to get the bones out. Definitely going to pick up Cajun seasoning on my next trip to store. That's after Indiana decides it's safe. You and Joe stay safe and well. Can't wait to see your next post.
as llabwins posted they do have a recipe for Cajun seasoning, but I'm sure I heard her say when added more,Toney's, which for me is the only one I buy, enjoy,
Chicken Soup
1 Whole chicken
2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon parsley
5 medium potatoes
5 large carrots
2 celery stalks
1 medium to large onion
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 bay leaves
salt and pepper to taste
your recipe sounds awesome. Can someone check the Northern Seclusion Instant Messenger for some messages. Thanks.
I enjoyed you just chatting with us while you were cooking. We don't often hear your commentary.
Thank you Ryan!
looks good thanks hope your mom and family are doing good in Louisiana
Yes, I make this often, sometimes adding noodles instead of potatoes. So good! Thanks again!
I think Joe loves you cooking for Joe !! Thanks for a new recipe Melissa !!
aaaahhh... heart warming chicken soup. It was nice touch adding the scenery. The dogs will love the added flavor profile to their food-good thinking!

Look's delicious as alway's. I have to ask how you keep your cooker so clean, technique's?
Good eats in this gloomy weather. Im sure Joe isn't thrilled about having to leave work to be done, but at least you'll be together and not separated.

Another great recipe and video! You and Joe seem to cook mostly with cast iron, is there a particular brand you use?
it's mostly Lodge but I have Wagner and Griswold...love anything antique though

Malissa, you should try chicken stock or broth instead of water. Deeper chicken flavor.
You add some seasoning that I haven't tried, but most definitely will.
