      I have a 77d too, did you need to update its firmware right after purchasing? or did you have some focus problems?

      @@jrc1156 Okay, so I have had the lens for a little over a year now. This is my update.
      Let me answer the second question first. Yes! I had and have focusing issues. This will be different for everyone even if it is the same camera body. I purchased the Sigma Dock later on, but still couldn't get to the point of satisfaction with the focusing. It's not like it missed all the time. Before calibration; it would miss literally 50% of the time. After calibration; it would miss about 20% of the time. I know that's a lot if you are on a shoot. This almost made me let it go until I watched a UA-cam video talking about how if you use the screen (Live View- Dual Pixel Auto Focus) the problem doesn't exist. I have always been a fun of using "Live View"; the only problem with it is it consumes battery faster.
      So I started only using live view with the Sigma Art 35mm and it has never let me down. I feel the Dual Pixel Auto focus on the 77d is so good that even with my canon lenses I prefer to shoot in live view now.

    I put this lens on an R6 with the adapter and WOW!!! Tack tack sharp even at f1.4. 35mm is my favorite focal length and the Sigma hit a grand slam home run. Only drawback is a little slower to focus.

      @@RaffyUkon I have both. I like the results of the 1.4 better. Advantage of the 1.8 is smaller size and macro capability. Both take really nice tackmsharp photos. Amazing how sharp photos are at f1.4 and the bokeh is so creamy.

      @RaffyUkon 2 роки тому

      @@parmanduke Thank you. I can buy both for around the same price, looks like the sigma is the better deal. But because of the EF to RF adapter it is hard to believe that it is better than a native RF lens.

    • @parmanduke
      @parmanduke 2 роки тому +1

      @@RaffyUkon The native RF focuses faster. But the Sigma photos are better. I use a Sigma Art 85mm f1.4, Canon 70-200f2.8 ii, and 135mm f2 with ef adapters and the images are stunning beyond belief. Since mirrorless cameras focus on the sensor its all about quality of the glass. You won't be disappointed with images you get from good glass on the R6. I also use these lenses on a Sony A7R iv with the Sigma MC11 adapter. Other than af speed I can't tell difference in image quality between Canon glass and Sony glass. I love mirrorless tech.

    I own both the SIGMA and the TAMRON 35mm 1.4 SP.. Gotta say that the Tamron wins hands down, it's sharper wide open, although they are both SHARP to begin with, plus it has image stabilizer which you can comfortably shoot with at least 1/15th sec. which is almost impossible with the SIGMA. I even own the Tamron 1.8 version which I greatly prefer over the SIGMA

      Photographers invest in lenses that offer them the features they need to get the job done for them. Lenses aren’t “expensive” they are just out of your budget, and that’s okay. Get something you can afford. If nothing else, use your phone. We all have to start somewhere, and most of us had to wait until we started charging before we could buy these lenses. Or at the very least saved up for one.

      I really haven't had any problems with hunting. When filming myself I use face + eye tracking, when filming objects or anything else I sometimes use autofocus, but often use manual focus with focus peaking. A lot of the time if something is moving and you're at f/1.4 there's just going to be a tiny bit of hunting since it's such a shallow depth of field, but if it's like REALLY hunting and losing focus and re-finding it, I'd try playing around with your settings.

      You can 100% put this on a Canon 80D and it will work flawlessly. However, this lens was designed for a full-frame camera which has a larger sensor, which means you're actually overpaying a bit. Sigma has a 30mm f/1.4 lens that is designed specifically for crop-sensor cameras (like the 80d) and is cheaper. The only reason you'd buy this version is if you'll eventually buy a full-frame camera which the 30mm f/1.4 WILL NOT work correctly with. I hope this helps!
