In summary: "Sigma lenses are so good that our bad lenses are still almost as good as our amazing lenses"

Quite the cinematography in this video. Great job! I love my 150-600 Contemporary. I have been very fortunate to capture some great wildlife shots here in Alaska with it. Honestly I would be more than happy expanding my lens collection with RF mount sigmas to pair with my soon to be R7...

Great comparison between the Sigma Art and Contemporary lines. Image quality seems to be top-notch for both. It's clear that one's choice will ultimately depend on factors like aperture, price, size, and weight.

I have the 45 2.8 mentioned here for my SL2-S and it is definitely a hidden secret. This is extraordinary value for money and probably the most portable l-mount lens. Bravo !!

As a landscaper the Contemporary range definitely ticks the box with regard to portability especially if I'm climbing Fells and Mountains. I do worry a little though about the weather sealing. Is the Contemporary weather sealing any better or worse than the Art? It would be logical to assume that the Art's sealing is of better quality would it not?

I have the same question. So far here in the PNW no problems, but when it really chucks it down I do often switch to my older olympus or Pentax gear to be safe. Although I think my panasonic s5 is quite good, I still baby my fp and fpL..

So for portraits I’d choose the art series but for everything else, contemporary will work fine.

This is very true. My friends contemporary sigma 50mm 1.4 shoot just as good as my Sony GM, which is about 1k more. And I was so surprised!!! Very great lens.

didn't include the 2 best ART lenses. The beautiful 105mm F1.4 and the 40mm F1.4. Love those 2 gigantic beasts. If anyone is considering, those 2 are better than the 50mm + 85mm in my opinon.

Question is how do the new prime aps contemporaries compare to adapting an old art lense. Especially nikon doesnt have any art lenses yet and i heard in multiple reviews that the new contemporaries are supposed to be upgraded from the old ones

    I bought the 105mm f1.4 Art in March 24’ and fell in love with it! So now I own the 14, 20, 24, 28, 35, 40, 50 & 85mm f1.4’s + the 135mm f1.8
Sigma ART is the pinnacle of quality as they have designed the quality of the lens firstly and then focused on size and weight secondly to this…

What about video autofocus performance on E mount? I'm looking for a set of fast primes and looking at 20/24/35/65 lenses F2 vs F1.4 is not as important, but the reliability and speed of CAF is.

Hello, If the A lenses are not perse better, why is there a difference in price, why are there two ranges? And why is there nog C 70-200 for Art of even for Sony in the C range? To my opinion the Sigma Art is better then the original Sony GM1 lens and i would really like to own a Sigma (A) 70-200, but if they would be as sharp/good, a C range.... I find that Sigma takes a long time communicating over the 70-200 for Sony, because a few years ago the CEO allready hinted on the annoucement of a 70-200 Art lens.....

I have several Art and Contemporary lenses for my Sony a6400. I still own the very old Sigma Art 30mm f2.8 and the 19mm f2.8 along with the Sigma C 30 and 56 mm f1.4.
I wish Sigma made a version 2.0 of the 30mm f2.8. It is a very tiny and sound lens. Great for street photography. Its only problem is its ancient AF and no weather sealing. Only if Sigma could make a new one for something like £199. 😍

So well described Tim, I feel that you have certainly clarified the difference between Art and contemporary very well for potential customers.
I also found very little difference in image quality between Art and Contemporary lens.
The key is to decide what kind of photography you are going to be using a particular lens for.
You are the master of videos mate :-)
