U gotta have a number $$$ that works for your bills and needs. Then figure out the company model(how they play the game) and Make it work for you.
I had a 500 mile load, my truck broke down and was towed 300 miles to company yard, a few miles from the delivery location. they only paid me for 200 miles and keep the rest of the miles.
They had another driver deliver it 2 miles away while i sat for a few days in a motel room

I agree, use these companies as stepping stone. They use drivers, so drivers should use companies. Keep your interest top priority, not the companies interest. If you will for a billion dollar company like jb hunt and you getting paid 50 cpm. Better look at life differently.
You will make more money sitting in a car or office talking about trucking than actually driving a truck. 💪🏾
