Walmart is a private carrier so we haul company frieght. Everything is based on windows of time to get frieght to location and u let dispatch know your time u have and they send u loads u can run. Basically u get the load as safely and legally to the location as fast as u can and u go on to the next load until you run out of hours. U run at a solid pace that u set and u dont feel micro managed cause u constantly goin with no or little downtime. U get paid to sleep in truck and u can park at most walmarts or sams club ( if they have city ordinance u cant) which helps in major cities. If u like hanging out in truckstops or goofing off this job isnt for u. Hometime is great. U only out 5 days and u reset at home. Or they have local positions u can be home nightly. Great job.
Goin on 5 years with them now.
I be telling people Driver for Corporations that have STORES & Truck's not company's that only have TRUCK'S it's a difference!
A bigggg difference
I remember Seeing a lot of Private Carriers way Back in The 1960’s and 70’s. Around the Mid 1980’s they gotten rid of their Fleets and use Big box Carriers. But now I see those Companies like Proctor and Gamble coming Back with Their Private Fleets you see dollar General Expanding their Private Fleet and Hiring. Target Stores more likely will Take back Most of their Private Fleet. They do have one but it’s Not as Big as Walmart or Any other Company that has a Private Fleet.

My company you can make 100k your first year. With esse. But if you guys coming fresh out of truck driving school thinking that you are going to make that your are not
What you hear is probably true. There pros and cons anywhere you go but Walmart is by far and away the best trucking job ive ever had.

Its 30 months of experience needed unless you are a employee for a year then you can sign up for there associate driver program and how they pic you throught that is by seniority how long you have been with the company if you dont have any recent coaching. My brother drives for them he is a team driver and makes 491 a day that is for team driver. Solo driver makes anywere from 240 to 530 a day. They do pay well but they are not the highest paid int the industry. And they also get paid 15 a hour for breakdown pay.

I have a question, as a driver with your CDL can you choose the days you want to work ? Or it’s just like every job ? You come in to work mon to fri ?
I looked into applying, as a new driver you can’t get on with the experience obviously. UNLESS you are an employee and then they have a duration of employment before you can apply. But I wish they had an outside new driver program.
It’s interesting for sure. I am looking at a few other companies to start with, I’m just REALLY concerned with the industry and longevity, idk how reliable it is to earn 100k ish a year

Well you think about it girl if they always hiring always looking for drivers then they probably don't really be that good a company to work for I know they treat their sub haulers like s*** so maybe they treat their own drivers just a little bit better than that. I do know the long-term drivers for any company always say how great the place is and how much money they make.
I've heard that UPS drivers make pretty decent well the ones I've talked too
They make good money and have great benefits it’s just not all that in the beginning

What glitters aint always gold. They make $100k easily, they go home every week and they have the best benefits probably in the industry however its their way or the highway. You have to drive in inclement weather, even if its a state of emergency, majority of their freight is super heavy especially if you deliver to sams club. You slip seat , you don't have your own truck for a while , too many cameras in the truck and the cell phone policy is zero tolerance also you have to be ok with getting paid every 2 weeks rather than every week.. Play at your own risk. Thats why i turned them down.
