I love that you don't strive for perfection when it comes to pie crust. We've all had our problems when making pie crust and My Grandma always said it will still be delicious no mater what it looks like and your pie looks delicious Leanne. Thanks for sharing your recipes. 🙂❤️
Wow that honestly is a beautiful pie! I was nervous watching with how much liquid was in there. It turned out beautiful! I have a gallon of dehydrated apples sliced like yours. I plan on making this pie. Thank you for your time and making this video.
Ooh, I have several half gallon jars of dehydrated apples that I could be using for pie! When Hubby and I are over the flu this will be a nice treat. Thank you for showing how it's done, LeAnne. I'll have to use apple juice to reconstitute my apples because they weren't very flavorful to start. How nice that you brought your husband a delicious mid-harvest treat. What a blessing to know that all our prayers have been answered and your crop came in successfully with a place to store it.
I’m glad I can inspire you Molly! I hope you get over the flu quickly! I was asked to bring him lunch since he didn’t want to stop, the weatherman is calling for rain the rest of the week and it started maybe a half hour after that.
Thank you..I have a gallon of dehydrated apple chunks that I put up 3-years ago now it’s time to use them..I’m glad that you fared well with the corn..I grew up on my family farms yes farms 2- of them until one caught fire no burned to the ground in the 70’s it was pretty heartbreaking as that was our bigger barn , we lost our cows so lots of crying..people have no idea how hard farmers work with never having a day or complete day off..sickness is a tough luck the cows still need to fed and milked..the corn and the hay still needs to be harvested..
Took my grandson to the apple farm for the first time this year and we picked McIntosh apples. What a fun experience. I made applesauce with some and dehydrated the rest. They sure didn't last long. Next year I'll have to get twice as many. Maybe then I can try this recipe. Sure looks good. Thanks LeAnne. Really enjoy your channel and love watching Howard's reactions. So glad the farm is doing well and you both are being rewarded for your hard work.
I like that you show your, not really mistakes but mishaps? It shows that you are real. I also like when you don't weigh things. Hardly anyone in America does that. All recipes are in cups, tsp and tbsp. I am 53 and couldn't even begin to convert them! Live ya lady!!!❤❤❤
That’s awesome! I’ve made dried apple turnovers, but never a full pie. Lots of apple slices in the pie. That’s great. I often have a terrible time with pie crust. But you are right. It still tastes good!
I've found the easiest way to move a pie crust is to use your rolling pin. When you got it to the thickness you want, roll it up around the lightly floured rolling pin and unroll it over your pie pan. It works like a charm.
Last year, since I had some "orphan" leftover jars, I combined a quart jar of dry apples with a quart jar of dry peaches and made a very similar pie. Decided I like it just as much as either an apple or a peach pie!
Mmm... I could almost smell that pie when you were cutting into it! Have to get out some of my dried apples and try this one! It is a keeper! Blessings on your day Kiddo! 🥰🌻🐛
Your pie looked SO DELICIOUS!! I have always wondered how to make one using dehydrated apples, so thank you for sharing! I bet this would be good with a few cranberries mixed in. 😊 I'm happy to hear your corn bin is on its way to completion! Have a blessed day! 💞
Thank you Julie! I’m sure it would be good with cranberries or raisins! Yes our corn bin is back in order, just need to buy one more part when it’s empty again.
Leanne, I want to dehydrate some apples from our tree this year. Wasn’t sure what to do if I made too many to use as snacks. This is the solution! Looks great. I really enjoy your style, knowledge, and explanations. Have a blessed day!
@@MennoniteFarmhouse Leanne, do you use a Nesco or something similar, or an Excalibur-type? I have Nesco. Although our weather is generally low humidity, I find that it takes significantly longer to dehydrate than what the guide recommends. Thanks in advance. I really want to process my apples this week.
@@BigValleyLiving I have both but highly prefer the Excalibur just because we have tons of humidity here. I find the food is a better product when it comes out of the dehydrator as well!!
Oh my, this is a definite must-do for me. 😋🍎🍏 I haven't started my binder yet but I am going to get on it, because this will be the first recipe that goes in it! I would MUCH rather make a pie from my dehydrated apples than can up apple pie filling. Your spice combination is right up my alley as well. And your pie crust looks good to me, lol. Hi LeAnn! Your pie looks so delicious. I’m not the best pie crust maker, it’s edible, lol. So good to hear your corn bin is up. Hop you and your family have a blessed day!
That’s a great idea to use the dried apples. I think I prefer that over canned apple pie filling. I’d rather fill my shelves with food we eat more often. Don’t worry about the pie crust taste is all that matters
Thank you for this encouragement about pie crusts. And thank you for showing how you use dehydrated items from the pantry. I'm just starting to think I might need a dehydrator but I'm looking at seeing what I might use it for. That looks delicious.
Pie crust shouldn't be intimidating for any one! I use mine to dry the last of my onions before they rot, and herbs and lots of other crops from my garden!
Your pie looks incredible. I haven't mastered pie dough yet. It tastes good but a little tough. I didn't think I was over-working it, but maybe I am. I will keep trying.
Oh yummy looks delicious!!! I wish I would of dehydrated apples instead I made lots of apple butter. Next year I'm dehydrating them. Glad you are having a good harvest and doing well after the fire.
