Looks good and I like the topping! I love how he does the taste test - while chewing I can SEE him thinking of the flavors and he gives his honest opinion! He WAS robbed on the ice cream ma'am.
Wowzers I am gaining weight watching all these delicious pie videos. Everyons so far has been a keeper. Thanks Leanne for hosting this collaboration. God is good so make it a great day.
I appreciate you more than you know. I live a very city-like existence, and married a very city-like family, but grew up on a farm. My great grandfather was Amish. Your videos give me a glimpse of that beautiful life
I had never heard of that pie before but it sure does look delicious! My favorite pie is a dutch apple pie and this remind me of that so I know I would love it.
Your pie looks amazing🤤 I love shoofly pie, I make sure to buy it whenever I go to Lancaster, PA🙏 There’s no better cuisine then Pennsylvania Dutch cooking, I love going to the Amish restaurants there as well. TYFS, I hope you have a great tomorrow♥️💫✨👼🏻✨💫♥️
This is like homemade vanilla pudding used as a pie filling! You could change the flavor by adding different flavored extract instead of vanilla! How versatile!
Hi LeAnn! My grandmother would make a similar pie, but I never got her recipe. This does look tasty. I think hubby approves. Your bread looked so good too. Hope you and your family have a blessed day!
Hi LeAnne! Look at you! Over 10K subscribers! You go, girlfriend!! I know it's a late congrats, but I just noticed 😬 I'm loving the Pies of March, and this is a pie recipe that is new to me. I've made a Shoo Fly pie, but not a Vanilla Crumb pie. Thanks, once again, for inspiration and sharing your heritage with us. Keep up the great content!
Dang...beggers can't be choosy. He wants vanilla ice cream too??? He cracks me up!!! The pie looks delicious to me. I love the crumbs on the top. Thanks LeAnne!!!
Ĺove the recipe ❣️ Pies & bread are my latest endeavors so your channel is a new favorite. Thanks for doing the Pies of March as that's how I found you! 🙂
Funny story, I had never heard of Kings syrup until I had been out to PA. I got a shoo-fly pie recipe and it called for kings syrup. I asked if it was similar to Braer rabbit molasses (that’s the only kind I was familiar with😂) and told they had never heard of it. So I got some from a Mennonite run store in Lebanon. I made one with molasses and one with the kings syrup and tried to compare it with the one I purchased at the Bird In Hand restaurant. They used a spice but I can’t tell if it’s cinnamon and clove or allspice…but mine definitely came in last compared to their based on my children and husband. They liked the some with some seasoning.
Wow! Usually I make regular for all those in my house that aren’t gluten free. But this one I’m going to try and attempt a Sugar Free/Gluten Free version. God bless you for all you do!
Yum! Looks like you had a very productive day in the kitchen. I can hardly wait to get back into mine. My husband is painting my cabinets and fixing hinges etc and it's been two weeks so I've been doing minimal amounts of stuff out there :( I've got a canning project needs doing, so I'm just going to have to move the 'stuff' and get it done anyway.
Several years ago I tried to make a vanilla pie. I am not sure where I got the recipe or what I did wrong, but it never set up right. I even baked it longer than the recipe called for. You make it look easy and I am anxious to try making it again with your recipe. 😊
I’m so glad I made this video for you then. Just make sure to let it cool completely before placing in the refrigerator. There are other instructions in the printable recipe card.
I live next to an Amish community and always see the shoofly pie at bake sales. I have never tried it because the topping looked dry but I may have to try soon. I always buy the mules ear cookies or the Whoopi pies
There are different kinds of shoofly pies... one is more cake like that is considered a breakfast pie which goes with coffee! Then there is the wet bottom.
@@MennoniteFarmhouse I prefer wet bottom. I had a great one from Brown's Orchard in Glen Rock. Sent in the mail since I live in NC. I used to make it with Grandma's Dark molasses.
Ha ha, without fruit, it's just not a pie for us...these are interesting. I guess our coconut cream pie isn't really fruit nor the sour cream raisin pie...two of our treats that I can only make once in a while or we'd all be 300 lbs.
This video is not apart of the Pies of March Collaboration. It's fits the theme of the month on this channel!
Looks good and I like the topping! I love how he does the taste test - while chewing I can SEE him thinking of the flavors and he gives his honest opinion! He WAS robbed on the ice cream ma'am.
I will remember the ice cream next time! It would have been very good with vanilla ice cream!
Crumb pies are gorgeous
I think your husband is enjoying pie month! This looks delicious. I’ve never had a pie like this. Thanks!
Wowzers I am gaining weight watching all these delicious pie videos. Everyons so far has been a keeper. Thanks Leanne for hosting this collaboration. God is good so make it a great day.

This pies of March collaboration has been so much fun. I can’t wait to try this recipe as I love anything vanilla!! ❤🥧
I’m glad you are enjoying it!
Wow, this pie sure looks good, it reminds me of a Struesselkuchen (German crumb cake), wonderful. 👍
I appreciate you more than you know. I live a very city-like existence, and married a very city-like family, but grew up on a farm. My great grandfather was Amish. Your videos give me a glimpse of that beautiful life
Also. Strawberry cheesecake ice cream does indeed go! It's vanilla and goes with everything 😅
Thanks for sharing! I am glad you enjoy my videos!
The Vanilla Crumb pie looks delicious LeAnne! Reminds me a bit of a wonderful streusel coffee cake :-)
Thanks Mary!
You certainly are coming up with some unusual and interesting pies. This one sounds pretty good. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Your husband is really enjoying all these pies. I love a crumb pie. I agree pie just needs ice cream 😊.
I had never heard of that pie before but it sure does look delicious! My favorite pie is a dutch apple pie and this remind me of that so I know I would love it.
Both your pie and the bread were works of art!

This recipe is from one of the cookbooks you gave me…
@@MennoniteFarmhouse Oh I'm glad! Hope you find more recipes to try! I laughed aloud when Howard asked where was the ice cream.
Your pie looks really good. Love it that you bake bread in those cast iron pans. They look like the ones I have.
I love using cast iron pans for my bread. I never worry about them not coming out of the pans.

Kings syrup was always on the kitchen table at breakfast time in my parent's house!
Pulling teeth getting words out of your husband lol. I have to laugh every time you try to get him to say if he likes it our not. Have Blessed weekend

Everything looks delicious (and the rise on that bread)... Howard: "where's the icecream"? Lol. Did he request a second piece?
I know that was too funny! He loved it. I am sure he ate the whole thing with in two days time!
This looks a bit like shoo-fly pie. I am going to try it!
I like this better than a shoofly pie! I think I don't care for molasses!
Must be good he keeps eating it. 😊
Always!
I have never heard of king syrup.. what is it? Like Karo syrup?
Growing up we would use on pancakes and scrapple. It's popular in my area. It's kinda like a pancake syrup.
Thank you. Where I live we don’t have that.
Mmmmm! Has anyone tried this with a gluten free flour blend?
I am sure it possible, maybe THM baking blend??
Have you ever heard of butterscotch pie?
Yes I have, Gregs kitchen YT channel made it for the Pies Of March collaboration. That video just posted yesterday. I have had it.
I like crumb toppings only way i will eat a cooked apple lol
I love a dutch apple pie too!
Looks really good, but the downloadable recipe is for chicken soup!
SO Sorry about that, I got it fixed now...
The pie looks delicious, but then so does the bread and buns. I saw how you had to twist his arm to try a piece of the pie😂
Thanks Cheryl!
It needs ice cream! Lol MEN! Hahaha
