    have a number of EGO tools, including the 16" chainsaw and the pole saw. Quite happy with them. I wish the batteries were a bit less expensive though!!

      Awesome! I've been eyeing up the 17" chainsaw. I've been very happy with the EGO product s as well. Thanks for taking time to comment and thanks for watching!

    Bought one of these yesterday, and ours does have a chain tensioner built in - it's a screw at the base of the bar. The Allen wrench even has a flat screwdriver at one end so you don't need a separate tool. Good review, and a very useful saw in my view

    I love my Kobalt Pole Saw - 80-volt - 5-ah battery - 10" Bar - 6 ft / 8ft foot Pole Saw. No cable. Using an Oregon Bar and Chain. I have been using it for more than 3 years now. It works great on my southeast Louisiana farm clearing property that a hurricane went through and trashed all the trees in the woods of our 20-acre farm. I carry it all over our woods and the battery lasts a long time. Today I'll be cutting a 6-inch limb off of a tree out front. I am also using (2) Kobalt 80 volt 18" Bar Chainsaw and using the 5 AH Batteries. Cuts huge logs great. The first one wound up in a puddle and stopped working but after a couple of weeks and it had dried out, it started working again.

    battery degradation in amperage s obvious at year three. The newer batteries are more efficient than the older batteries but the older batteries are better imo at run times but I believe they have more cells due to the added weight of the battery. I highly recommend EGO tools for non commercial use. I still use my 1st gen 21" push mower (not the best cut) and love it. The carbon shaft trimmer is great. I think their hand blowers are good brushed and brushless. I'm about to chop up some trees with me 18" chainsaw.

    It's a technique to anything you do! I never have this problem with tiny branches getting caught in the chain!

  • @L2FlyMN
    @L2FlyMN 8 місяців тому

    Any time you cut small limbs, even if you keep your chain tension where it needs to be, because of their tendency to pinch, bounce, chatter & backlash, they tend to cause the chain to derail from the bar. Not much you can do about it other than to take your time & expect it to most likely occur on certain projects.
    I have already found I need to find an extension for the one we just purchased! At 5.6, I’m already used to having to get a stool or ladder, while those over 6’ tend to have no issues.

  • @billdee814
    @billdee814 Рік тому

    I like the shoulder strap that is where the weight should be. With the extension never put the bottom weigh of this tool pushed out away from you mid section. Keep the weight close to your mid section because if you don't you will twist your back like never before.

    Your comment about battery life and storage at 50% does not align with the Ego instructions on newer model chargers. My charger says that the unit will automatically discharge the battery pack of left on the charger for an extended period of time. This is what the manual says “The battery pack will fully charge if left on the charger, but it will not overcharge. If the battery pack remains on the charger for one month or more, it will perform self-maintenance and drop to 30% charge capacity. If this occurs, reinstall the battery pack on the charger to recharge it fully.”
    I’m interested in your source of information about discharging the battery to 50% when not in use?

    • @roccosperanza
      @roccosperanza 3 роки тому +2

      This is accurate information for current lithium batteries. Long term storage, 20-50% is best. In reality 90% top charge to 10% would make the batteries last much longer instead of doing 100%-0%.

    Thanks so much. chains do come off. I was using a Kobalt; very bad chain problems. I think if the saw cuts clean through with no leaf debris inside the saw's covered area. I think the chain needs to be checked often. And better to tighten the chain before it comes off

    Just getting started with EGO products. Liked review of pole power saw. Planned on getting a pole saw. Wondering if I can buy the item by itself. Have a trimmer.

    • @TinkerForward
      @TinkerForward  Рік тому +1

      Hi George, the pole saw is one of the tool attachments for the EGO multi-tool system, if you have the stand alone trimmer you won't be able to use the pole saw unless you purchase the multi-tool system.
      I've done a review of the multi-tool system in my Fun EGO outdoor products playlist which you can find here:

    Hi Jeff,
    I have the multi tool kit (hedger, line trimmer) and was looking to add this pole saw.
    Doe's the pole saw have a tensioner for the chain.
    My gas saw chain flies off if it's not tensioned.
    I also purchased the brushcutter when it was on sale for half price, so much more comfortable to use with its harness. best investment and heaps of power.

    • @TinkerForward
      @TinkerForward  4 роки тому

    Thanks for the battery saving tips. I am new to doing my own yard work. So far I have the ego pole saw, lawn mower, edger. I've used the pole saw the most and in have difficulty keeping the chain on. And then putting it back on. And yes the little key is constantly missing. What do you think about buying a new bar and chain? Rather than sharpening? How frequently are you sharpening? Also occasionally when I try to run it the machine skips. It makes a noise like it's skipping each little tooth yet never starts to roll. Do you know what that happens? Also I can't find your little robot anywhere but I am new to your channel.

      Oregon should do a suitable bar and chain replacement.
      U must clean out the groove on the bar frequently. When cutting limbs, make sure you don't catch it with the bar tip, this can make the chain jump off. Don't let the chain become too loose, it will jump off.
      A new chain needs to be checked frequently as they stretch at first. Don't over tension the chain either as this will wear the bar down and may cause the chain not to rotate. View Steve's small engine saloon on UA-cam. This Canadian fella knows where it's at.

    • @TinkerForward
      @TinkerForward  4 роки тому

      You can interchange batteries to run with both the multi-tool system and mowers yes. (Convenient if have multiple batteries and you wanted to charge one while using the other.) My multi-tool trimmer and edger came with a 5 amp hour battery. The ego mower I just did a review on about a month ago came with a 7.5 amp hour battery.
      Here's the video
      ua-cam.com/video/313r1BEDWuM/v-deo.html
      At 4:41 seconds in that video I compare the batteries on screen for you.
      I could put that 7.5 amp hour battery in my multi-tool system and use it if I wanted to.

    Hi Jeff, thanks for the information. I need help. My 10"EGO Polesaw suddenly stopped working. The battery works; the axis turns; but it just won't start. The oil level is correct. It doesn't appear to be associated with the chain either. The problem seems to be coming from the polesaw mechanism/motor area. Given your experience, have you seen a problem like this previously and/or do you have any recommendations as to possible resolve (the fuse or other) appreciate your help, dana

    i am new to pole saw and chain saw. is it normal that the chain has a bit of a sag? also is it normal that the chain doesn't bounce back after you pull it? i'm used to seeing chain spring back when pulled for chain saw. so not sure if this is expected or not.

    • @Divadosaurus
      @Divadosaurus 2 роки тому +1

      The instructions state "A cold chain is correctly tensioned when there is no slack on the underside of the guide bar and the chain is snug, but it can be turned by hand without binding." So if there's visible slack on the underside of the bar from gravity when cold, then it needs tensioning. Extra sag is expected when the chain heats up due to the expansion of the metal links. 40 second video from EGO ua-cam.com/video/Jc2gMAFxhlM/v-deo.html

      the ego pruner chain comes out of the box really tight, all new chains do break-in and stretch, so you need to tighten the chain after a few cuts, then it won't need tightening as much. So far in my experience i have to tighten the chain twice for ever charge of battery otherwise the chain comes off, then need to take the bar off and get the chain on properly

    Keep your chain tight
    Once your chain comes off it’s useless throw it away it’s going to keep doing it, it ruins the teeth that run along the inside of the bar. Buy a new chain.
