Nosk might be less dangerous than the X parasites, but what he does is even scarier. Nosk doesn't just take the form of the person it targets, it searches through their memories and disguises itself as a loved one. And if it can't find anyone you love,it will become *you* instead.
There was that enemy in HP (and a parody of it in The Owl House) that becomes your worst fear. I wonder whT would happen if that thing and Nosk fought each other.

Think you finally lasted the night indoors and you're ready to continue building outdoors? Check your shoulders or else a straggler will sneak up behind you and not only give you a fresh death and a crater to clean up but a heart attack you never saw coming.
You know what video game villain I'm most afraid of? Imagine you have a nemesis, a friend/enemy combo that you fight on a regular basis. He never really wins, but he's never gotten seriously injured, either. But then, something goes wrong this time around. He falls into lava for what must be the thousandth time, only this time he doesn't come back up. Or rather, he does- what's left of him, anyway. You see him burning alive and drowning all at once, skin and flesh melting, searing away- and so does his son, not even ten yet. You can't help but feel deep anguish, hollow guilt, and honestly a little sick, but there's still a princess to save, and you press on. As you travel through this land that just feels too bright and cheery for what's just happened, and the son occasionally fights you, or sends in some minion or another, and he seems a bit more vicious than before, but you're in too much shock to really tell, and honestly it's all too fair. And then it happens. He dumps what little remains of his father into a cauldron, digging deep into the darkness of his family's magic, and the thing emerges. It looks similar to your old foe, if a lot thinner, but it's also very, very different. The hair is all wrong, the shell too discolored to be waved away as scorching. And the eyes. Where once there was joy, passion, and just the right amount of hatred for a villain, there is now only the dull glow of magic. No, this is not your nemesis. It is a cold soulless copy of what was lost. It lets loose a hollow roar punctuated by the rattle of bones (its or your's, you can't tell) and the battle is on. Eventually, your real nemesis returns, and there's no more hard feelings than a defeat usually brings, and you think that's the end of it. It's not. Somehow, the monster gains a form of its own, haunting you in bonus challenges and racing, sports and parties, never letting you escape. Its name is Dry Bowser, and it serves as a not-quite-living memorial of the day Mario failed as a hero. Plus that roar is just freaky.

I think the fear we feel from Stalker type enemies is sort of a Primal Fear. Humans used to be not so different from them. We were persistence predators. Chaseing animals at a brisk pace until they got too tired to resist. Stalker enemies put us in the place of those animals. Imagine running and running until your legs give out, only for the last thing you see to be the hungry look of a creature who's only goal is to end you, not as a want, but as a need.
Alright, Logan... I would like to bring your attention to a specific enemy from a little game known as "A Hat in Time". By the way, MASSIVE SPOILERS!!! So, one of the acts in the 3rd Chapter of the game(aka Subcon Forest), is known simply as: "Queen Vanessa's Manor". Upon getting inside of the mansion, you're immediately stripped of your powers, aka, YOUR FUCKING HATS! Meaning you won't be able to run, throw bombs, shit like that. Being basically left naked and afraid is bad enough, but once you actually get inside, you'll know why I mentioned this foe. She roars a single phrase. "WHO DARES ENTER MY HOME?!" And if you pay attention, you'll see your character, an adorable little cinnamon bun that rivals the cuteness of KIRBY, you'll see them do a special action. You'll see them fall on their butts, and scurry backwards, in pure fear and terror. And, if you dare stick around, you'll find out just why Hat Kid is so scared. Enter, Queen Vanessa. A figure of pitch blackness, the only thing that isn't black are her glowing red eyes. The moment, she spots you, a horrifying tune plays, as she goes full sprint, with every single intent to KILL HAT KID! And she will! If she reaches you, she'll literally lift hat kid up BY THE NECK, AND FREEZE HER SOLID!!! An INSTANT KILL!!! You even see Hat Kid struggling for their life, just before they're frozen solid! Your only option? Hide. When she's searching for you, she even speaks, sounding like a caring mother looking for her lost child... But, what's even worse is her significance to the backstory of The Snatcher and Subcon Forest. Long ago, Subcon Forest used to be a beautiful, luscious forest, filled with life and beauty, ruled by Queen Vanessa herself. Queen Vanessa had fallen deeply in love with a prince in Subcon Forest. Who is that prince? You guessed it: The Snatcher. However, one day, Queen Vanessa saw the prince with another lady, and she flipped... She went full YANDERE. Chaining the prince in the cellar, leaving him there until he died... Her horrible power corrupted the entire forest, and all of its inhabitants... Yeah, those spirits in the forest? They're ALL FORMER RESIDENTS OF THE FOREST THAT SHE CORRUPTED! And might I add, this game is rated E10+, and it has NEVER, EVER gone this scary ever again in the entire game, before AND after this act. And then, at the very end, in the final chapter, where Mustache Girl has basically become god? Pretty much every character in the game has gotten in line, awaiting their judgement... except for one. Queen Vanessa. Queen Vanessa was so terrifyingly powerful, that not even the now godlike Mustache Girl wanted to deal with her... GODDAMN GEARS FOR BREAKFAST! I WANTED MARIO 64, NOT FUCKING AMNESIA THE DARK DESCENT!!!
Personally, I think the scariest enemy from games that isn't human, even if we include humans, is SA-X, from Metroid Fusion. She turned a non-horror game into one of the best horror games, just by being Nintendo's version of Nemesis. lol
#10: A classic to be sure, and strangely effective. #9: Unique music can really help to amp up fear. #8: To quote Blue from Overly Sarcastic Productions, "The deeper you go the more nightmares there are! Also, FUCK that piano track! #1: God, the implications surrounding that thing are completely terrifying.
When I was a kid, the number one video game enemy that thoroughly scarred and scared me was akin to one of your picks, the flood. The way they walked, the way the infected body’s head just kinda dangled, and the process of infection.
It's pretty creepy, but the lore is kinda sad in a way. But the parasite in every way is the deadliest thing ever in the halo universe (possibly even the ENTIRE multiverse)
Don't forget the different sounds they made in the games they appeared in from the gargling scream from Halo CE and 2 the other worldly roars from 3 and the high pitched screeches from 4 and 5's multiplayer versions yikes
The scariest part is how much they evolved since their defeat in Halo 3. In Halo Wars 2, it took only an hour before they started plaguing the Ark with their mere presence. And the Abominations are like icing on a cake. Walking command forms the size of Scarabs. Yep. No thanks. I'd prefer angry Brutes any day. (Just think there was concept art of Decimus returning as a Flood form.)

I'm a FNAF fan, and the way he described Nightmare and the reason he's scary sent chills down my spine. Nightmare is our fear of death in the form of a monsterist animatronic bear. And his voice lines in UCN back this up. Thanks to this video, I'll never look at him the same way again.
Metal Antlions from Spyro are a big one for me. The creepy design of shiny metal bodies, long dark coloured legs and jagged mandibles are one reason. Also, they move in a really unsettling fashion in dark cave areas and will suddenly chase you really quickly and hunt you down if you pass into their awareness range which is quite large. If you get out of their reach then they'll sit and wait for you and if they do hit you they make this high pitched squealing noise that just freaks me out. Also there's the fact you can't kill them through conventional methods and you need either the supercharge (better not miss them...) or even worse, you need to go into the upper caves right through their territory, go out of your way to kill a Green Druid who'll block off the exit and get the superflame breath... ugh... And then Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood had to introduce Trench Antlions in The Fringes... they gave me a heart attack when you hear them rumbling underground and then all of a sudden two massive mandibles spring up and clamp you and a giant freakish insect emerges from the ground. It's strange how despite this, I really like Trapinch and Durant... O.o

Fawful's Minion You know, when I was a kid, there are 2 kinds of enemies that I found scary in the Sonic Franchises. The Egg Beetle Sentries fro Egg Quarters And the Giant Alligator from Sonic Heroes But nowadays, I overcame those fears and have been able to beat their respective levels.
I know I'm late, but you just dug wayyyy deeper into the pikmin rabbit hole than I've never seen anyone do. I've heard the umibozu stuff before, but you went way farther.
You know, I've noticed a similarity between Parasite X and Sanitized Octolings from Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion DLC. Both of them are an amalgamation of innocent creatures, all with a single mindset: destroy, evolve, and kill. But I find the Sanitized Octolings even creepier, because while Parasite X is 'alive', the Sanitized..... aren't. They're literally zombies of the most extreme, no heartbeat, no life signs, just cold-hearted creatures that want you dead. There is also Sanitized Octarians, they're the same case, but I just find the Sanitized Octolings to be much scarier. The cold blue and green color scheme is quite unsettling, the ink they spew looks inorganic, alien, and my god, those voices! *Echoing Laughing and pained cries* JESUS CHRIST! And the fact that they're hunting down an Octoling, who previously had lost ALL their memories (about 18, according to the game), the scarring of their mind is just chilling to me, and they make me cringe whenever I hear them. And that's saying something, because I am not usually easily disturbed when it comes to videogames. AND THIS IS IN A CHILDREN'S GAME! God damn, Nintendo, you just love to make seemingly child-friendly games, and just TWIST them into nightmare fuel, don't you? I really hope that this gets a mention in another video in the future, because this needs to be addressed.
Glad im not the only one that when played Octoexpansion i found the same similarity... Agent 3 better had Hug Agent 8 when the story had finished because damn it!, poor girl really needs a hug.
The thing about the Plasm Wraith, during the MLF section, if you look on your map, and search beyond the level itself, you'll find a dot in a black sea of nothingness. It has a similar, if not same, look as a boss location. It's just out there, sheltered away from the player. Which begs the question: what is it? Is it another foe entirely? Is it the TRUE Boss of this area, and what you're fighting is an avatar of that? Why does it want Olimar? Even though the stuff it shows you is scary, what's most scary about it is the mystery. That or it could just be unused content that wasn't supposed to make it into the final game, but who knows.
I want you to know, I completely forgot the ending for Pikmin 3. But you’re to tell me that the Plasm Wraith has some means of sending out signals that can disrupt a ship’s coordinates and send it hurdling into the planet, where it would eventually devour and smother its prey?!?! ...I want to get the developers of Pikmin some therapy. I think they need to get out more, talk to someone, cuz this is that next level school-shooter stuf

In turns of the creepiest video game enemy my pick would probably be the Biolizard. Seriously ever since I played Sonic Adventure 2 he has always creeped me out his desing is just so grotesque and odd, but I also feel bad for him. Biolizard grew too quickly wich made him gargantuan but also destroyed his organs so he needed a life support system to keep him alive. After a while Biolizard grew way too hostile and after multiple accidents he was locked away for over 50 years. That's horrible! Seriously he has probably the most tragic backstory for a Sonic character. At least the boss fight against him is super fun.

The Plasma Wraith in Pikmin 3 is similar to the X-parasite. It is a golden, shapeshifting creature that assimilates other species and mimics their traits.
I agree with you hugely on that Lagiacrus one. Whenever I played MH, any one, really, I could never bring myself to fight any monster in the water. The Lagiacrus, the Ludroths, Mizutsune, and don’t even get me started on the Elder Dragon Ceadeus.
This was such an awesome video and incredibly intellectual, going more in-depth of the concept of fear rather than just the way they look, sound, or do in the game. So awesome. Golden commentary as always of course, which I’ve already mentioned.
Here are some of the scariest for me that weren't on this list: Sanitized Octarians/Octolings (Splatoon 2) At first, they seem like simple recolors; that is until you find out where they came from. It's revealed near the end of Octo Expansion that these guys are the ground-up remains of the 10 007 innocent Octolings that came before you given life. Nymphs (Terraria) At first, they appear as a lost girl, and being the dumbass I was 2 or so years ago, I wanted to help them. But the second I got too close, she turned around and attacked, carrying with her a stupidly high HP count for the stage in the game she's in. I'm convinced that before she started dropping stuff like the Tally Counter and whatnot, her only purpose was to scare the shit out of you and kill you. Also, is it just me, or are pieces of her falling off as you do more damage? Croccomire (Super Metroid) Croccomire himself isn't super scary. A mildly intimidating roar and a blank stare. The reason I find him scary is for his infamously morbid death scene. He gets pushed into lava (or acid?) and we have to watch as his skin melts off, with the poor guy trying to crawl back out the entire time. And even on the edge of death, when he's nothing but a skeleton, he still comes after you. That's a bit messed up.
I'm sure the Sanitized Octairians are made from the DNA of not just octairians but any other creature as I can't believe that many octairians fell down there

My favorite Stalker type enemy is the Anima, from Evil Within 2. One of the few enemies you can't harm in any way. Sings and hums a twisted version of the tune that plays in your safehouse. Pulls you into a labyrinth designed after the Beacon Mental Hospital, setting of the first game, as a way to mess with the main character Sebastian. Can use telekinesis to rearrange furniture and rubble to complicate your escape attempts. And oh yeah, can walk through walls.
Surtr was also terrifying because of the idea of him- ruthless, relentless, and unfeeling. He murdered innocents, including Gunnthra in front of her own siblings, and tried to kill off the other three Nifl royal family members. Hel might also be a good example of relentless and terrifying, though I honestly prefer Lif since he's both intimidating and incredibly sympathetic once you learn his story.
Not to mention the nightmare animatronics, especially in the first game, boots you back to the desktop of your computer. What scares me most? The destruction of what was, what is, and what will be.
You were talking about invincible stalker monster enemies and my mind immediately jumped to Mimi from Super Paper Mario. That thing and it's music terrified me as a kid.
The creepy doll girl in Genma Onimusha who's nearly immortal, follows you around an entire temple and hacks you up with arm blades whenever she appears.

I think the fear we feel from Stalker type enemies is sort of a Primal Fear. Humans used to be not so different from them. We were persistence predators. Chaseing animals at a brisk pace until they got too tired to resist. Stalker enemies put us in the place of those animals. Imagine running and running until your legs give out, only for the last thing you see to be the hungry look of a creature who's only goal is to end you, not as a want, but as a need.

Alright, Logan... I would like to bring your attention to a specific enemy from a little game known as "A Hat in Time".
By the way, MASSIVE SPOILERS!!!
So, one of the acts in the 3rd Chapter of the game(aka Subcon Forest), is known simply as: "Queen Vanessa's Manor".
Upon getting inside of the mansion, you're immediately stripped of your powers, aka, YOUR FUCKING HATS! Meaning you won't be able to run, throw bombs, shit like that.
Being basically left naked and afraid is bad enough, but once you actually get inside, you'll know why I mentioned this foe. She roars a single phrase.
"WHO DARES ENTER MY HOME?!"
And if you pay attention, you'll see your character, an adorable little cinnamon bun that rivals the cuteness of KIRBY, you'll see them do a special action.
You'll see them fall on their butts, and scurry backwards, in pure fear and terror.
And, if you dare stick around, you'll find out just why Hat Kid is so scared.
Enter, Queen Vanessa.
A figure of pitch blackness, the only thing that isn't black are her glowing red eyes. The moment, she spots you, a horrifying tune plays, as she goes full sprint, with every single intent to KILL HAT KID! And she will! If she reaches you, she'll literally lift hat kid up BY THE NECK, AND FREEZE HER SOLID!!! An INSTANT KILL!!! You even see Hat Kid struggling for their life, just before they're frozen solid!
Your only option? Hide.
When she's searching for you, she even speaks, sounding like a caring mother looking for her lost child...
But, what's even worse is her significance to the backstory of The Snatcher and Subcon Forest.
Long ago, Subcon Forest used to be a beautiful, luscious forest, filled with life and beauty, ruled by Queen Vanessa herself.
Queen Vanessa had fallen deeply in love with a prince in Subcon Forest. Who is that prince? You guessed it: The Snatcher.
However, one day, Queen Vanessa saw the prince with another lady, and she flipped...
She went full YANDERE. Chaining the prince in the cellar, leaving him there until he died...
Her horrible power corrupted the entire forest, and all of its inhabitants...
Yeah, those spirits in the forest?
They're ALL FORMER RESIDENTS OF THE FOREST THAT SHE CORRUPTED!
And might I add, this game is rated E10+, and it has NEVER, EVER gone this scary ever again in the entire game, before AND after this act.
And then, at the very end, in the final chapter, where Mustache Girl has basically become god?
Pretty much every character in the game has gotten in line, awaiting their judgement... except for one.
Queen Vanessa.
Queen Vanessa was so terrifyingly powerful, that not even the now godlike Mustache Girl wanted to deal with her...

When I was a kid, the number one video game enemy that thoroughly scarred and scared me was akin to one of your picks, the flood. The way they walked, the way the infected body’s head just kinda dangled, and the process of infection.
It's pretty creepy, but the lore is kinda sad in a way. But the parasite in every way is the deadliest thing ever in the halo universe (possibly even the ENTIRE multiverse)
Don't forget the different sounds they made in the games they appeared in from the gargling scream from Halo CE and 2 the other worldly roars from 3 and the high pitched screeches from 4 and 5's multiplayer versions yikes
The scariest part is how much they evolved since their defeat in Halo 3. In Halo Wars 2, it took only an hour before they started plaguing the Ark with their mere presence. And the Abominations are like icing on a cake. Walking command forms the size of Scarabs. Yep. No thanks. I'd prefer angry Brutes any day. (Just think there was concept art of Decimus returning as a Flood form.)

I'm a FNAF fan, and the way he described Nightmare and the reason he's scary sent chills down my spine.
Nightmare is our fear of death in the form of a monsterist animatronic bear. And his voice lines in UCN back this up. Thanks to this video, I'll never look at him the same way again.

Metal Antlions from Spyro are a big one for me. The creepy design of shiny metal bodies, long dark coloured legs and jagged mandibles are one reason. Also, they move in a really unsettling fashion in dark cave areas and will suddenly chase you really quickly and hunt you down if you pass into their awareness range which is quite large. If you get out of their reach then they'll sit and wait for you and if they do hit you they make this high pitched squealing noise that just freaks me out. Also there's the fact you can't kill them through conventional methods and you need either the supercharge (better not miss them...) or even worse, you need to go into the upper caves right through their territory, go out of your way to kill a Green Druid who'll block off the exit and get the superflame breath... ugh...
And then Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood had to introduce Trench Antlions in The Fringes... they gave me a heart attack when you hear them rumbling underground and then all of a sudden two massive mandibles spring up and clamp you and a giant freakish insect emerges from the ground. It's strange how despite this, I really like Trapinch and Durant... O.o

I know I'm late, but you just dug wayyyy deeper into the pikmin rabbit hole than I've never seen anyone do. I've heard the umibozu stuff before, but you went way farther.
You know, I've noticed a similarity between Parasite X and Sanitized Octolings from Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion DLC.
Both of them are an amalgamation of innocent creatures, all with a single mindset: destroy, evolve, and kill.
But I find the Sanitized Octolings even creepier, because while Parasite X is 'alive', the Sanitized..... aren't.
They're literally zombies of the most extreme, no heartbeat, no life signs, just cold-hearted creatures that want you dead.
There is also Sanitized Octarians, they're the same case, but I just find the Sanitized Octolings to be much scarier.
The cold blue and green color scheme is quite unsettling, the ink they spew looks inorganic, alien, and my god, those voices!

And the fact that they're hunting down an Octoling, who previously had lost ALL their memories (about 18, according to the game), the scarring of their mind is just chilling to me, and they make me cringe whenever I hear them.

God damn, Nintendo, you just love to make seemingly child-friendly games, and just TWIST them into nightmare fuel, don't you?

The thing about the Plasm Wraith,
during the MLF section, if you look on your map, and search beyond the level itself, you'll find a dot in a black sea of nothingness. It has a similar, if not same, look as a boss location. It's just out there, sheltered away from the player. Which begs the question: what is it?
Is it another foe entirely? Is it the TRUE Boss of this area, and what you're fighting is an avatar of that?
Why does it want Olimar?
Even though the stuff it shows you is scary, what's most scary about it is the mystery.
That or it could just be unused content that wasn't supposed to make it into the final game, but who knows.

In turns of the creepiest video game enemy my pick would probably be the Biolizard. Seriously ever since I played Sonic Adventure 2 he has always creeped me out his desing is just so grotesque and odd, but I also feel bad for him.
Biolizard grew too quickly wich made him gargantuan but also destroyed his organs so he needed a life support system to keep him alive. After a while Biolizard grew way too hostile and after multiple accidents he was locked away for over 50 years. That's horrible! Seriously he has probably the most tragic backstory for a Sonic character.
At least the boss fight against him is super fun.
I don't know why, but the way Fawful gasps/wheezes scythes when describing the Necromorph had me laughing to tears.

I agree with you hugely on that Lagiacrus one. Whenever I played MH, any one, really, I could never bring myself to fight any monster in the water. The Lagiacrus, the Ludroths, Mizutsune, and don’t even get me started on the Elder Dragon Ceadeus.

This was such an awesome video and incredibly intellectual, going more in-depth of the concept of fear rather than just the way they look, sound, or do in the game. So awesome. Golden commentary as always of course, which I’ve already mentioned.
Here are some of the scariest for me that weren't on this list:
Sanitized Octarians/Octolings (Splatoon 2)
At first, they seem like simple recolors; that is until you find out where they came from. It's revealed near the end of Octo Expansion that these guys are the ground-up remains of the 10 007 innocent Octolings that came before you given life.
Nymphs (Terraria)
At first, they appear as a lost girl, and being the dumbass I was 2 or so years ago, I wanted to help them. But the second I got too close, she turned around and attacked, carrying with her a stupidly high HP count for the stage in the game she's in. I'm convinced that before she started dropping stuff like the Tally Counter and whatnot, her only purpose was to scare the shit out of you and kill you. Also, is it just me, or are pieces of her falling off as you do more damage?
Croccomire (Super Metroid)
Croccomire himself isn't super scary. A mildly intimidating roar and a blank stare. The reason I find him scary is for his infamously morbid death scene. He gets pushed into lava (or acid?) and we have to watch as his skin melts off, with the poor guy trying to crawl back out the entire time. And even on the edge of death, when he's nothing but a skeleton, he still comes after you. That's a bit messed up.
I'm sure the Sanitized Octairians are made from the DNA of not just octairians but any other creature as I can't believe that many octairians fell down there
What about Troodons , the reapwrs and the nameless from Ark survival?

My favorite Stalker type enemy is the Anima, from Evil Within 2. One of the few enemies you can't harm in any way. Sings and hums a twisted version of the tune that plays in your safehouse. Pulls you into a labyrinth designed after the Beacon Mental Hospital, setting of the first game, as a way to mess with the main character Sebastian. Can use telekinesis to rearrange furniture and rubble to complicate your escape attempts. And oh yeah, can walk through walls.
"Gota love how colorful your sences are. Sights a noble leader smells the impulsive nut Taste has a thing for art and Touch *scoff* Drama queen!"

Other “Stalker” Enemies Logan missed:
Fire Emblem Heroes Book 2’s Surtr,
Persona Q: Shadows of the Labyrinth’s Old Doll F.O.E.
Surtr was also terrifying because of the idea of him- ruthless, relentless, and unfeeling. He murdered innocents, including Gunnthra in front of her own siblings, and tried to kill off the other three Nifl royal family members. Hel might also be a good example of relentless and terrifying, though I honestly prefer Lif since he's both intimidating and incredibly sympathetic once you learn his story.
Not to mention the nightmare animatronics, especially in the first game, boots you back to the desktop of your computer. What scares me most? The destruction of what was, what is, and what will be.
