I've had my fair share of vehicles over the years, yet somehow I have always managed to avoid getting something turbocharged or supercharged! Today I sit down and go over my car journey so far to maybe help provide some insight as to how in the heck something like that is even possible.

goodmorning
Good morning!
The last 3 cars we've purchased have been turbocharged. A fiesta ST, wife's Mazda CX-9, and my current Veloster N. They're fun! The boost kicking in is so damned addicting on the ST and Velo N.
I haven't decided yet if I'll be turbo or supercharging my LFX RX8 project or not. We'll see!
Ayy fellow VN owner. Let’s go!
How hard was the lfx swap?
A good starter turbo car is definitely a focus or fiesta ST. I finally drove a focus ST this past summer, full bolt on with Quaife. It was a blast on the short twisty road near me and it really made me wanna build a track oriented car.
Happy to see you making videos still man 🤘🏽
Happy to be here! Thanks for the support!
I do hate myself for not jumping on a turbo 2 rx7. But I do love my NA fc and even tho it was a gas guzzler at least it took regular non premium gas.
I think it would be cool to +t the 240sx or maybe SR swap it as a winter project after this next season. Filming it and posting some how-to videos along the way of course!
Also want to know what coilovers you end up going with for it!
a KA+t would be really fun I think!
🥨 Ive also owned 5 different cars that are all NA although I am slowly trying to boost my na miata but shit is expensive
You've never owned a turbocharged car?! Holy cow, we can't be internet friends anymore! /unsub Seriously though, there's nothing wrong with N/A cars... I've had good luck with my couple of turbo cars overall though, so I can't complain about 'em. I expect my S13 will eventually have a turbo in it of some sort... either the KA will get built or I'll swap to something that already has a turbo like a K24 or something... Probably the decision will mostly revolve around how I can get to my power goals vs. price and reliability. Edited to add a 🥨, but I think a 🐌 would be more appropriate...
I’ve never had a turbo car either but I just bought my first this year in January 2022. Cadillac ATS 2.0T I’ve been working on it making power in at 330 wheel on E right now.
🥨 love the vids man glad you and the other homies that left FI are doing good, you all seem happier looking forward to all the content 👌🏽
I drive a 4.0 jeep Cherokee so also a boostless boy you definitely not alone 😂 horrendously slow
🥨 I haven’t had a boosted car yet either buddy 🤷♂️ maybe someday soon for the both of us
I went with the 1988 NA Supra over the Turbo solely because 1. It's a lot cheaper 2. Easier to find a clean example 3. Reliability/amount of things to go wrong.
Yeah, basically no one talks about the NA engine and right at 200HP, but honestly not that concerned about it, the car is way too nice of shape to have not gotten it.
As long as you enjoy it! That's all that matters
My Dad had an '85 NA Supra and that car was great to drive! I don't even remember if a turbo was even available on that model year. He put 350,000 miles on that thing and eventually sold it -- the body was showing its age and the miles by then, but the motor was still reliable as hell. Was definitely a great car.
@@Papajin68 Toyota introduced the Turbo on the MKIII Supra in the 87' Model year. The Celica Supra never had one, but damn those old ones despite the HP decrease were MUCH lighter and a blast to drive from what I hear. The 7M-GE motor on my Supra is a much different story than the older ones. It has the head gasket issue fixed, but I've heard stories.
You generally see them with at LEAST 200K, but it takes a lot of work to get it there. Hoping to hold on me mine at 117K for as long as I possibly can. It's absolutely mental to drive and it looks literally like nothing else on the road. Incredibly proud to own the first Supra car and the last Celica. They don't make them like that anymore.
Just got my first turbo car (22 civic 1.5t non si) the beginning of this year and i just hit 34 years old lol
Also 🥨
In April of this year, I decided I needed turbo in my life. I searched and searched and scored a (mostly) unmolested Focus ST. Loving it. Noisy BOV and all.
Turbo the KA24 !
🥨
That NFS intro really was one of the best. Carbon still scares me.
Never owned a turbo car either NA > turbo 😅😅😅
Because all motor cars sounds amazing with a hog ass cam.
Warm salted pretzel with chz 👌🏾
You and Dakota gonna do some videos together now that you've left Fitment?

I've owned turbos, S13 CA18DETs, WRX EJ20ET, Nissan L20T, I've owned NA B18C Vtec, 13B RE, several 4AGEs. Mercedes M104s. But don't mess around with RX8s they are straight garbage

🥨 Literally eating some rn😂
I had a '13 Genesis Coupe as my first turbo car and now I have a '21 Camaro with a 2.0t. It's nice having the the low end torque at take off. The genesis drive smooth fir the most part but fell flat at the higher rpm range while the Camaro is pretty linear all around. But, this summer, I'm considering going back to a NA engine and trade my Camaro for a Charger RT.

🥨What's wrong with NA cars?
I've driven multiple Turbocharged cars and several NA cars. I tend to find the responsiveness of the NA cars to be quite nice. I get frustrated with the turbo lag, it feels like waiting for an auto to figure out what gear it wants to be in, even when the car is a manual. Yes that's a bad comparison, but you get the idea. I mean, in a strait line, sure the turbo can by fun to fool around with, but to me, I never wanted one after driving a turbo car for the first time. I thought they were cool when I was in middle school playing NFS, but once I got to drive real cars with turbos, they lost their allure.
I guess, for me anyways, turbochargers are not this amazing thing that is necessary for a car enthusiast to have. Turbos are just another option with their own pros and cons.
Here's a 🥨. Wondering if there will be a video turboing the 240, revealing a new boosted car or a Dakota beating the hell out of someone's senses. But hey, it is much rare to have owned a rotary than a turbo. A turbo rotary maybe? 🤣
L8 🥨 Loved my '18 86 but like my turbo B58 more
My family hauler v60 cross country is my turbo car. Lol I beat the snot out of my nb2 all day in the summer. Never over heats, no mechanical issues, just turn the key and go. There is something to be said for na reliability.
Your not alone I also have only owned N/A altho in my case it's by choice.
Glad to know I'm not the only one out there 😂
It sounds like a combination of impulse and lack of budget is always keeping you off the snail. I'm on my second daily MB with turbo AWD and I really enjoy them.
🥨
Pretty much what it boils down to 😂
🥨 pretzel time
You’ve owned some great cars and I love what you’ve done with them. But we NEED to get you into a booster car someday.. 🥨
Thank you ♥ and I agree!
