I would not go that far. I don't think he would be offended. But he definitelly wouldn't be proud of this version. It is a lightweighter. Just about the only thing special about this version are the beautiful singers. They can sing. but not more than one would expect from artists.
The “When I get Low “ was such a great sounding trio and perfect video it’s hard to beat. This new group with only one original singer ( it’s her band) is also pretty good. Excellent production on sound and visuals. It was smart to try to recapture a taste of the original “ when I get low “ and it looks like it might work better than other variations I’ve seen Nastaja try . It’s hard though, as the original trio had that extra ‘something’ which I do think was the utterly watchable original blonde who was compelling to watch and had that quality in her voice ... she just was ‘magic’. I want to love this song and trio version too but maybe a bit spoilt by the other. Which is a bit unfair as Nastaja is the backbone that makes this all work so well .. she just had a magic formula with the original blonde. So it was a pity it couldn’t prevail!! Maybe keep giving us some more songs of this calibre and I’m sure we’ll adapt !!
@@annanutherthing My sentiments are the same; the first video was near perfect . . . .tough act to follow, I guess. This is good, but I thought the chemistry/voices of the other line-up was something beyond exceptional. And, again, the video was about as good as it gets.
What a “coincidence” that discover you three ladies. Near top of my recommendations. Thank you 🙏 for your support The Speakeasy Three Love love love ❤️ your 20s inspired swing jazz
I love these girls, so elegant and classy with amazing voices... also curvy! Don't look like little kids like the media demands us ladies should look like, they are an inspiration! X
Love this . I could never sing or play but my feet were a different story when it came to dancing the dances of this era. One of the worse thing about getting old is memories that can not be repeated or is that really true as you watch these artists.
THIS...sexy-slinky-sleazy jazz sound, and Big Band Swing, Outlaw Country, Motown-era R&B, Funk in the style of Parliament/Funkadelic, early 90s-style Grunge, Punk in the style of Iggy Pop & the Stooges/Television/Ramones/X-ray Spex, dark 80s-style music in the vein of The Cure/Romeo Void/The Smiths, blues in the style of Stevie Ray Vaughan/Buddy Guy/BB King, transgressive folk a la Bob Dylan, and the Madchester sound...these are the types of music that should be dominating the airwaves in the 2020s decade. Who's with me?
@Kevin McCullough You're right...plus Run-DMC, Outkast, The Fugees, The Roots, The Pharcyde, Missy Elliott, MF Doom, Grandmaster Flash, Bootsy, Toots and the Maytals, Kool Keith/Dr. Octagon, The Melodians, and probably several dozen others...but radio stations are either owned by Clear Channel or Viacom, and neither have the cojones to play real music, just recycled garbage...okay, rant over.
I am addicted to all your music. I am surprised I haven't heard of you until I accidently met yall online. Yall are AWESOME!!! KEEP IT UP!! HOPE to see yall LIVE in ATLANTA some time soon!!!???!!!
A fabulous postmodern take on a classic track performed by talented souls who adore vintage style while upholding modern values . Really can't see where any negativity is coming from...
It's nice seeing old jazzy swing and vintage songs getting a revival. The genre deserves it and though this song in particular isn't quite my thing the artists are very talented.

I absolutely love these three ladies they are so so talented I wish I could see more of them and hear more of them and I'd love to even go to this club
That was a wonderful cover! I always wondered what that last line of scat was; now I know. Skit tit tiddily pit tit tidilly skit tit tidilly pit tit toy. I can't count the number of times I watched Cab sing that on The Blues Brothers but I never could make it out.
When I was in 8th grade, I sang this for my friends and got them to repeat after me on the "hi-di-hi, hi-di-ho," part, mainly because I wanted to draw attention to myself. Only now when I understand what the lyrics mean do I regret ever singing it. It's because Minnie's on drugs that she's having that dream about the King of Sweden giving her all that stuff.
Cab Calloway's version is untouchable. It's impossible to improve upon. Any cover of Minnie the Moocher is therefore an homage only. I'd like for someone to cover a different Cab Calloway song, though. From basically 1929 until 1938, he kicked out great tune after great tune, and aside from Minnie the Moocher and St James Infirmary, they're all forgotten.
Fair point... one Calloway fav of ours is SAN FRANCISCO FAN which was brilliantly covered by JOE JACKSON - check it out if that one escaped you. I think his version is a revelation.

Правда , что Вы убили своего любовника негра и его съели?????
Most generous hard working man in the world he was. He smiles upon us all.
I could only imagine this is what the sailors would have called "Sirens". Nice to hear that unique voices still live and no auto-tune is required.
This song always reminds me of "The Blues Brothers", one of my all-time favorite movies. Great job!
The immortal Cab! Even at that age he was great
It was an awesome movie.
Best movie for music!! Seen it many many times:)
The Blues Brothers introduced a new generation to some great music!
Reminds me of the original Betty Boop cartoons.
The girl with dark hair I think just took my whole heart 🥺🥺🥺🥺 what a voice ! What a smile ! What style! I'm . In. Love !!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Just STUNNING Singers..... The Song is just Amazing....

Love these ladies! When I get low is another great song they've performed!
Wish thay sing another song.

And some of the scenes look a lil bit awkward which makes them cute.
"Minnie" was the cutest imho
Cab Calloway created this style an this group payed awesome homage with their talent and soul.
Am sure Cab Calloway would be looking down and smiling at this rendition.

He gave her his townhouse and his racing horses
Each meal she ate was a dozen courses
She had a million dollars worth of nickels and dimes
She sat around and counted them all a million times
