Just this whole performance mesmerizes me. The sax player is great, the drummer plays like 4 different styles, all in one song, the piano player is banging that left hand, the bass player is thumping, the singer is fantastic and her eyes contain so much expression. How could this get any better?
What I love about this version - and it seems nobody else comments on this - are the style quotations. At 2:04 they move into a 12/8 shuffle. From 2:15 to 2:20 they play in 5/4, basically Paul Desmond's "Take Five", and then from 2:27 to 2:34 this is the Police's "Message in a Bottle". And after 7 seconds, straight back into the original. What a genius arrangement!!
Thank you so much for yr comment. I love people like you. Specially linking it back and fort from previous amazing artist of different generations. And putting time to put the time stamps a bit of descriptions. THANK YOU. They should pin your amazing comment..

I realize, watching these videos, that the piano is a lot more of a percussive instrument than I thought. It looks less like he's pressing individual keys to make notes, and more like his hands just have an idea of how they want to strike the area the keys lay in...and they just happen to hit all the tuned actuators. You guyz made totally made a new sound with that song .. especially that part where rhythm tempo everything was changing was amazing ... felt like different pieces of music but still somehow connected .. awesome!! Great great job .. applause👏👏👏
Well with Dave Coz being a multi-platinum selling jazz saxophonist guesting on this you would have to dedicate your life to playing. There's a ton of Dave's videos out there so please give them a watch 👍
Can we all just give it up to the saxophonist? The dude went through like 5 difficult solos in different styles and incorporates the original riff. He's spectacular.
I feel like not many people had actually noticed that... :( I'm also feeling like, there's a piece of Sting's song from 2:26 - is it only me? I'm sending you an S.O.S - this particular part :D
Probably because they didn't pile a bunch of processing (effects) on her voice in post. It sounds to me like she's singing on a dry mic, well maybe a touch of reverb but that's all. That's a good thing.
Who are these people in a state of flow? Why are they not legends? The seamless transition through 4 styles in 30 seconds, is from another level that escaped from reality.

I love this cover especially the sampling from "Take Five". I always enjoy Robyyn's beautiful voice but this time the band especially the sax player really stood out.
Their professionalism shines and they make it look effortless. I enjoyed the music and laughed at the same time. That is true entertainment. Thank you.
Woww .. Excellent vintage jazz fusion of this song ¨Careless Whisper¨, they even included chords from ¨Take Five¨, quality choreography and video production. 100 Points.
Perfect cover - vocals are perfect, Dave is his usual perfect self, song tone/arrangement/composition perfect, band is perfect. This is officially my favorite version of this iconic song.
Congratulations on your award Scott, well deserved! You have taken top selling covers from the past and presented them with Epic interpretations to resonate every sense of our being! Thank You!

Dave Koz on sax. Saw him in concert and not only is he good on the sax but a real funny and entertaining guy. His musical change at 2:00 in was to one of his songs.

Yes! Saxman Dave Koz is skilled and funny... kinda like Basketballman Michael Jordan jumps high and dribbles pretty good.

OMG .. apart from all the jokes .. this cover is sooo much creative amazing!!! You guyz made totally made a new sound with that song .. especially that part where rhythm tempo everything was changing was amazing ... felt like different pieces of music but still somehow connected .. awesome!! Great great job .. applause👏👏👏
It actually was introducing a different song, if you're not aware. Take 5, by Dave Brubeck. Look it up, it's an absolute banger
@@skinnysnorlax1876 and "Message in a bottle"
it’s really cool that people are finding out about this cover and the band from the next Savoy Ballroom Google Doodle! :D
This REALLY makes me wish I could play the Saxophone.
Well with Dave Coz being a multi-platinum selling jazz saxophonist guesting on this you would have to dedicate your life to playing. There's a ton of Dave's videos out there so please give them a watch 👍
Ha, me too, just considering my spending £1300 on a Yamaha
yo its never too late
so cool...*watches each instrument at a time for the next hour*
Plazmatic Aphelion
Hah. Same.
Out F-ing standing. Dripping with talent- all of them. I loved it!!!
I love the way the bassist (Adam Kubota) reacts to Dave coming into the picture at 0:49.
Omg when your voice goes deep, chills!!!! Your group is amazing and I can’t get enough of your voice.
Wow.. So much talent going on here. Thank you for sharing
Прекрасно! Очень деликатное отношение к звуку. Очень хорошо. Вокал потрясающий.
A little Dave Brubeck makes everything better.
I know, right? "Take Five" is just an amzing piece of music, and the sax parts are more than brilliant.
and the bit thats after "take 5".. for a bonus point ?!?! I knew the band and it took me a few songs to figure out the song.
Police - Message in a Bottle
Anon Nymous
I was like, "meh, good musicians, nice groovin', but regular cover". When they played Take Five the video got my thumbs up.
Video flagged for saxual content
But it is straight sax so at least most of religious and/or conservative people shouldn't have problem with it?
@@zabnat Dave Koz is gay, so we might have a problem...(grin)
well it gives eargasm
@@orcofnbu
That feeling, eargasm, is the definition of PMJ.
Dude, that is some religious sax right there boyo
Funny how no one seems to know who the sax player is. Dave Koz is amazing!
Steven Weiss I didn't recognize him, but when I saw his name at the end I was like whaaaaaat!! No way !!
Dave Koz should be easy to recognize; he hasn't aged a day since 1993.
Pop up Koz
I did I probably wouldn't even listen to it if it wasn't.
The first time he appeared in the back I thought he was LegalEagle
Can we all just give it up to the saxophonist?
The dude went through like 5 difficult solos in different styles and incorporates the original riff.
He's spectacular.
this cover at first was great. but that part where you added "Take 5" was just outta this world.
2:39 His excitement made me sooo excited LOVE JAZZ!
I'm giddy over this saxophone feature. Yes, please.
I don't know how many times i've came to listen this Robin version. But I always ended up satisfied.
Thanks Robin, you're great
Careless Whisper with a Take Five interlude? Excellent!
i know right? the sudden take five really caught me off guard, in a good way though haha
I feel like not many people had actually noticed that... :(
I'm also feeling like, there's a piece of Sting's song from 2:26 - is it only me? I'm sending you an S.O.S - this particular part :D
@@TheAdrianWeber yes! i heard that part but i couldn't place what song it was
After Take 5, it was also a part of Message In A Bottle by the Police. :)
Ellenai yep Sending out an SOS is in there
“I’m never gonna dance again”
*robyn dances along*
@duality I want her to step on me
I also want her to step on me.
Masochists
Love all the musical references in this one. I almost lost it when I heard Take five. Love it!
Dopeness
take five! i was thinking whats the name of that song for days lol
same here once i heard take five i flipped out!
Also a lick from the Police's "Message in a Bottle"?
Good catch. I picked up Take Five right away, but missed Message in a Bottle!
I love her voice. It's just sounds so much fuller than singers today.
Probably because they didn't pile a bunch of processing (effects) on her voice in post. It sounds to me like she's singing on a dry mic, well maybe a touch of reverb but that's all. That's a good thing.
Not sure if I’m right but did y’all throw in a price from “take five”?
Does sound like it!
yes, it threw the dancing out with the 5/4
Yes, and then "Message in a bottle"
Yeah, Take Five, or The Russians Are Coming as it's also known.
Just heard it, nice add :)
Oh a wild saxo guy appears !
He uses "crazy saxo lines" ! It's super effective !
Sax player stole the show on this one!
Really loved the jazz vibe. Good job guys!
Who are these people in a state of flow? Why are they not legends? The seamless transition through 4 styles in 30 seconds, is from another level that escaped from reality.
Это что-то невероятное! Давно не получал такого эстетического удовольствия! Браво!
Oh Gott, sie ist wunderschön, das Saxophon ist unglaublich, das Lied ist brillant, die Aufführung ist unbeschreiblich!
Fabulous, and I love how those small segments from "Take Five" and "Message In A Bottle" blend in there so perfectly.
I love how they really enjoy themselves in this song.
Time can never mend
The careless whisper of a good friend
To the heart and mind
If your answer's kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find
I should have known better, yeah
I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies
Something in your eyes
Calls to mind a silver screen
And all its sad goodbyes
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool
I should have known better than to cheat a friend
And waste a chance that I'd been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Time can never mend
The careless whisper of a good friend
To the heart and mind
If your answer's kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool
I should have known better than to cheat a friend
And waste a chance that I'd been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Never without your love What am I without your love?
Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it's better this way
We'd hurt each other with the things we want to say
We could have been so good together,
We could have lived this dance forever
But now, who's gonna dance with me?
Please stay
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool
I should have known better than to cheat a friend
And waste a chance that I'd been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Now that you're gone
Now that you're gone
Now that you're gone
What I did that was so wrong?
So wrong that you had to leave me alone?
This quarantine is made more bearable by listening to this beautiful girl with a pleasant voice that cheers my spirit and fills my heart with light.
i have finally unlocked the drummer!
Thats Racist
peter smedley how?
Lol banta
Cause your dumb
Banter/10
I love this cover especially the sampling from "Take Five". I always enjoy Robyyn's beautiful voice but this time the band especially the sax player really stood out.
6 years, 28,000,000 views, and still, UA-cam hasn't recommended this to me.
And the sax Take(s) Five.
Dave Koz- give him a hand, people!
I really love the main singer. I love her eyes and demeanor. Such a classy dame.
Fabulous voice and performance! I also love Ms. Anderson’s look!
That saxophone was too good! Dave is a god! This is amazing!
I can't believe what i'm seeing!
he got grey so fast
Their professionalism shines and they make it look effortless. I enjoyed the music and laughed at the same time. That is true entertainment. Thank you.
Is it Message in a bottle at 2:26 ? Damn this is so good ! Hope George can always listening that good music from the sky. RIP...
Even I'm pretty sure it is
I think so
Woww .. Excellent vintage jazz fusion of this song ¨Careless Whisper¨, they even included chords from ¨Take Five¨, quality choreography and video production. 100 Points.
Gotta admit. I was bopping along to this.
They are pretty good. Saw something going around at Christmas and got hooked.
Perfect cover - vocals are perfect, Dave is his usual perfect self, song tone/arrangement/composition perfect, band is perfect. This is officially my favorite version of this iconic song.
Maravilhoso.... é sempre um grande prazer ouvir e assistir as postagens do PostmodernJukebox !!!
Sergio Pinheiro : Adoro ! Estou a ver todos vídeos PMJ nos últimos dois dias
Wow! This is one heck of a talented band! (never heard of them before). Great music, will have to look up all their performances. Cheers.
2:13 "Take five" , Dave Brubeck's melody :)
Carla P. Malo Lol. At least somebody else realized that.
Carla P. Malo Thanks, dude...I was searching the name of that song xD
Carla P. Malo Sorry for my pedanticism (not a word I think) It's by Paul Desmond
Sean Thrasher that's true :) pardon me, it was performed by the The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Carla P. Malo And at 2:25 they use Message in a Bottle. These guys are awesome!
2:13 anyone noticed Take Five -Dave Brubeck?
+Philippe Duong I thought I was the only one...
+Philippe Duong Nope. Nobody noticed the extremely obvious change in tone, rhythm, melody, and time signature. Nobody at all...
You must feel like such a smart cookie. Have some internet points :D
I don't need internet points. What I need is to put my laptop down and get a life beyond watching Cringe Compilations on UA-cam.
+Philippe Duong Surprised no one mentioned the switch to Caravan in there.
2;17 Take Five whatttt
I jizzed when i heard this
insaneintherainmusic - Carlos Eiene
Hahahahahaha I kinda figured I’d you here Carlos XD
I love it!
SAME IN 2018
