Sura was truly a beautiful woman. Even though she died in his arms, she was always by his side coming to him through visions and dreams. In fact, even Varro died and helped him afterwards. Sura and Varro came to Spartacus in those dreams to reveal to him the truth and what Spartacus needed to check up on to see the deceit. "Tend the wound" Powerful revelation there. This was a supernatural aspect where Spartacus was aided from the afterlife.
Very well put. Spartacus had a lot of help. I once read that before the digital age, people use to dream more. Maybe that's why dreams used to influence people so much more.
Sura and Varro were the vehicles to tell him what he already knew in his subconscious. It was them because they were the people that he treasured the most.
Sura knew that Spartacus would be her last lover as well as his, but omitted her death from the prophecy because of her selflessness. She sacrificed herself for him…as all lovers do.
It was a brilliant move. Spartacus no longer had a purpose and was all in after that which was what Batiatus wanted. The mistake was not closing all holes and letting Spartacus figure it out. He should have know were that to happen Spartacus would want blood.
Batiatius was such a complex character. He became my fav after god of the arena. He was ambitious with many insecurities, cunning and ruthless, unwavering efforts to climbing social ladder and wealth, true love for his wife that he would give up everything for her too. His dialogues are the funniest!!
Batiatus was a fool I'm pretty certain Spartacus would have felt more comfortable in his situation and would have been more willing to fight in the arena for Batiatus knowing he kept his word and knowing that his wife was safe and was now with him. I think this was a terrible mistake on Batisatus part. This is the moment he sealed his fate.
Nah he would have hated seeing his wife enslaved and would have stopped at nothing to break her out. The only mistake Batiatus made was not finishing off the driver. One quick stab later whilst he is paying the guy and then he could claim that the guy died of his wounds when they were attacked on the road. A dead man tells no secrets. Spartacus would have never known he was duped as then the only ones who know are batiatus and his wife and they sure aren't going to tell anyone

And Batiatus knew Spartacus had no intention to stay as a gladiator with his wife a slave only allowed to be with him when given permission, that's why he ordered Aulus to stab her so that she would die in the ludus in front of Spartacus: to break his desire for freedom. By making sure he saw her body Batiatus insured that Spartacus knew she was dead instead of just saying she died on the road or before she was located since then Spartacus would only believe her death if he saw her die. Seriously did you even pay attention to the show and the dialogue?

It feels so weird that last battle, i mean, the slave army was easily crushed compared tô the constant high performance Spartacus was having, also romans couldnt find his body. I think he scaped in the last moment and let his army without leader comand, realizing that his first plan was always right (the plan to scape further lands out of Roman control)

The replacement was pretty sub par in the second season. He didn't put on weight/get in shape much for the role, really killed the suspension of disbelief that he's this badass fighter when he looks like he's never set foot in a gym. Also he just felt awkward. Last season however he REALLY stepped it up in my opinion. Night and day. Had to suffer through a mediocre second season to get what was in my opinion an amazing final season. Props to the actor for taking the criticism he got in his initial season and stepping it up big time. Glad they didn't cancel the show. Even so, nobody could replace Andy. But his replacement did a damn good job in that last season. Props where it's due.

I feel kinda bad for Batiatus lol. I always think Batiatus knew what Spartacus was planning to do (at least his intention). He could only either let Spartacus escape and see his fortune swept away right when he just got it, or kill Sura to erase the thought of freedom from Spartacus. When this show first aired, Batiatus was low-key painted as a villain, but I think he was a more complex character. The man saved Spartacus from being executed by purchasing him, trained and raised him to his glory, even spent little left of his fortune to search for his wife. Yes I know it's all an investment hoping Spartacus could repay him with victories in arena, but one should not deny that Spartacus and his wife both owed their lives to Batiatus, at least until the greed got better of him and he betrayed Spartacus. But it's not like Spartacus didn't intend to kill everyone (even Batiatus if must) in his attempt to escape right when his wife was found. This is like a moral dilemma between them and tbh I think the best possible course of action would be for Spartacus to just stay and fight until he earns his freedom, just like Gannicus, Theokles and Oenomaus (almost), not only freedom is possible but he and his wife would be cleared of the Roman wrath now that he has become the crowd's sensation. But, oh well.
