    If you'll attach the pulley reversed how you have it(the hook that you have going to the basket, going to the ceiling and how ever you have attached to the ceiling attached to the basket, you'll be able to pull down and not have to stand to lift the basket out.

    Did a batch with 22lbs of grain this weekend. Works no problem with a mini sparge and some fermcap. You can also do a double mash and get the grain bill up around 30lbs.

    Can confirm 20+ lbs works with the mini- sparge. My Christmas stout this year was about a 20 lb grain bill and it was a tight fit but it worked out great!

    Wow thats impressive. I have found on my 10 gallon kettle BIAB system I can do only 13lbs grains and 7 gallons of water and get 72% efficiency.

    I love doing Belgian strong ales, imperials, etc., so it's awesome to have more than enough capacity for grains in ~7.5 gallon batches!

    @clawhammersupply is it possible to do a 10 gallon batch of 4% beer with a heavy grain bill and then sparging to make up the extra volume? Have you tried this before with the 10.5 gallon system?

    • @resargent32
      @resargent32 6 місяців тому

      That's like 13 gal preboil volume. It would probably be easier to either add sugar/lme/dme or just double batch. They also make a 20 gal system

      I do this often on my 10 gal, 120v system.
      I start with about 6 gallons of water, I normally do 15# of grains. I pressure ferment with corny kegs/floating dip tubes, so I have 10 gallons, pre ferment.
      I overnight mash as it is easier on my schedule. This boosts my efficiency. I drain/cold sparge, boil, hop like normal, then dilute up to 10 gallons while the wort is hot.
      This keeps things pasteurized, and jump starts the cool down process. Often I use Lutra with no chill.

    So I have a kit that has a grain build of 20 lbs Malteurop American 2-row 0.75 lbs Briess Carapils 0.5 lbs Bairds Carastan.
    Do you think that is just a bit much for your 10.5 gal system? Or just pull enough water to make sure I can get it done?

    • @Soulflayerr
      @Soulflayerr 6 місяців тому +2

      It should be fine if you withhold a little mash water, i have the same 10 gal system and i regularly press 18-19lb through it w/o trouble. if you're concerned about overflowing the basket with grain, especially while stirring, id suggest a 20+ inch foodservice whisk for stirring the mash.

    • @BellofattoBrews
      @BellofattoBrews 6 місяців тому +1

      @@Soulflayerr thanks I’ll look for a whisk of that size.

    Is there a way to swap out the bazooka screen in the bottom for maybe a maximizer? I recently got this system but noticed I lost almost a gallon in my kettle when transferring (below the screen/water line and didn't want to burn out pump). Does anyone else have this? Seems like a bit of work to unhook everything and physically put kettle on it's side and poor out remainder or is this just a negative that you need to account for in your recipe creations?

    • @brezj215
      @brezj215 6 місяців тому

      I have the 10 gallon system and I replaced the bazooka screen with a diptube from BrewHardware. It draws wort from the bottom, against the kettle wall. Might need to get a whirlpool arm with it to avoid getting a bunch of junk in your chiller.

    • @ClawhammerSupply
      @ClawhammerSupply  6 місяців тому +1

      Just tilt the kettle. But also, we have a whirlpool arm and will be releasing a 90 degree fitting option for the output soon.

      @@ClawhammerSupply what’s the max wort you can get out of this system? I have a 14g fermenter that has a max chiller but they say it won’t work unless it’s 5.08 gallons? Can I finish with more liquid than that?
