To think that Tinker Owens or any WR could have made two-time All-American on a wishbone team is amazing......this was my favorite of all the OU teams I watched growing up in Oklahoma.....

THIS WAS A TRULY GREAT OU TEAM. A CREDIT TO THE TEAM MICHIGAN HAD TO KEEP THE GAME CLOSE. THEY MUST HAVE BEEN PRETTY GOOD. I BELIEVE THIS OU DEFENSE MAY HAVE BEEN THE BEST OF ALL TIME AT OU OR FOR THAT MATTER COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

I really want to mention what a fantastic receiver Tinker Owens was and how he was the difference maker in so many games when only a big catch would pull us out of a hole. Where can we go to see a few of these catches?

@@jeremybriscoe7130 Well, duh, you back my point.
The wishbone, Veer T , triple option are all the same by any other name. A well disciplined defense can defeat it. But it requires the defenders to maintain their assignments. The reason it works for Air Farce Army and Navy is they are now very undersized in modern sports, but it is an offense teams rarely see, thus lack of some discipline defending it. This keeps them in games.

The OU teams of '74 and '75 weren't involved in any wrongdoing, so why penalize the guys on those great teams? The school itself received some sanctions. The most serious violation was that the high school transcript of Kerry Jackson (a backup QB who played very little) had been altered. As for '85, I don't even know what you're talking about. On top of that, OU wasn't the first school to win a title while on probation. Auburn did too.

The ‘73 team should’ve been National Champs as well. They were on probation for the lawsuit against the NCAA. NCAA denied that was the reason but we all know they don’t like to be called out for their greed.
