- How Long After Making an Offer on a House Do You Hear Back?
Today we are discussing how long is will take to hear back about your offer once it's submitted.
I’m a Real Estate Agent in Eugene, OR with CTD Realty. When I’m not helping clients, you can find me spending time with my husband and son. I enjoy watching our son play baseball, leading and choreographing my own dance fitness class, and am an avid fan of The Real Housewives.

Sorry for getting a little choked up at the beginning of this video. These fires have been difficult. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! Much love to you :)
You are so welcome
It depends. The end.
Thanks for the video! I have been waiting 5 days so far and no word. Is this a bad sign? Should I chase the estate agent to find out what's going on or will this make me look too needy? The offer was just below asking price but prepared to negotiate!
Did your real estate agent give you any type of timeframe for when the sellers would be deciding on your offer? Did you give them a time for when your offer would expire? I think if it's passed the offer expiration that you set, then you definitely need to check in. I wouldn't worry about looking needy. You need to know if you should keep looking for another property or increase your offer on this one if needed. Best of luck!
@@EugeneLivingwithBrynCook no time frame offered from either party I didn't know until I watched this. Is there a standard expiration? Thanks for replying
I'm sorry, I just saw this. No, there isn't a standard expiration. It just depends on the situation. I'm not sure where you are located. Expirations are standard in Oregon (where I am). I certainly hope that you've heard back by now.
@@EugeneLivingwithBrynCook hi Bryn just an update: they didn't get back to me so after day 6 so I rang them like you said. They told me the vendor was mulling it over but seemed more interested in my situation regards selling my own property and asked to speak to my own estate agents. 30 mins after this was done they got back saying the vendor thought my offer was too light 😕
This indicates to me that they held off with my offer until I could verify were I was with my own sale. Quite disheartened they would leave me in the dark for 6 days doing so. I've left my original offer on the table
We made offer at full list price and were told today their agent is “on vacation” til Wednesday. We figure this is a delay tactic to see if they get higher offers….is this a tactic used within the industry? It wasn’t accepted or rejected. It just sounds unusual.
Thanks for your message. Wow, that is nuts. I've actually never heard of that happening. If a listing agent goes on vacation, they can typically still help their clients remotely OR have another agent back them up. Unfortunately, you may be right and this could be a stall tactic. You could have your agent reach out to the listing agent's office to see if another agent would be able to step in and help. If that's not an option, unfortunately you may be stuck. I wish you the best of luck and hope it works out for you.
I made and offer yesterday 15k over asking price..patiently waiting
Just made an offer 2days ago on a place for full asking 7k closing costs VA loan. I do think the property is over priced. I was told the sellers are on vacation.
Eugene, OR is the valley of sickness.
