    Dave, thank you so much for this video...I moved recently & had to disassemble my mill. A month later, I found that I had not properly marked all the parts & your video was tremendously helpful. I have it all back together!

    Just got the same mill from CooksOnGold. I have not tried it yet, have not even opened the package, but the plan is to do it tomorrow. So thank you very much for this video. It was simple, very well explained.

    Some people found the origional printed instructions for the economy rolling mill a little complex. So I hope these several videos help you understand how to use it and some of the many possibilities.
    If you found this useful then please subscribe to Cooksons channel above and dont forget to give me a "like".
    Thanks for watching.

    I thank you so much for this! It was nicely done and very easy to understand. Quick and to the point! I do want to ask because I have never used a mill before but can you use designed plates and texturize your wire with this as well?

      3:43, my carton only had three straps when it arrived, two intact and one was cut, the shrink wrap was tattered, but the cartons were still intact. The styro-foam packing was rather shredded but did its job. The roller was not damaged in any way, considering the lack of shrink wrap and all the shipping straps.

      I got one recently and used it for first time today after tackling the red grease. Only used it for flattening a .925 half crown but seems OK.
      Mine came with two extra rollers and a spanner

  • @williamcontrerasfernandez1435

    I bought it recently, it is very good, but I have 2 points.
    1: it does not come with the lower roller that is needed to make thread.
    2: the maximum opening between the rollers to work them in a safe way is between 1.5mm~2mm if you open it more the side gears separate too much.
    But in general it is a good laminator in relation to its price.

    Great overview. I just got mine and I am debating drilling holes through my bench, you really have to secure it. Mine came with seven dies total, the two extra are for making round wire. And there was no mention of the extra dies, surprise bonus.

    • @damok9999
      @damok9999 8 років тому

      After using the round wire dies (they are more square with rounded corners) I have found it is essential to use a specific mold to make the sterling cylinders for rolling. Since the rolling mill can't roll very thick (limit like 4mm, a little more for round because the bottom die has space) You have to cast 2-4mm cylinders with a reversable mold (it splits into two pieces and is held together with a C-clamp) I have successfully starting making all kinds of band wire, now I would like to master making the more difficult things like flat wire for bezel walls and wide sheets (more than 2 inches is quite difficult) Thanks again CelticDreams, I couldn't have even changed the dies without your video because no instructions came with my unit! Cheers!

    Great info! :) In another video you mentioned that the rolling mill makes metal pieces longer, vs wider. Is there a tool that would flatten copper wire, so I can stamp some words on it (for a bangle), and not have it just turn into thinner wire? Thank you for sharing!

    Hi David! Thanks for your teachings! Tell me something, please: If I buy another extra roll in "v" (&"D", obviously...) and mount it superimposed on the original of the comb-set, in the two parts in "v" togheter I will have a perfect square wire or would they not close at a 90º angle?

    Well, i have used it many times now. It does it´s job and of course it is a " budget-mill " so you can not expect it to be professional. Does any one have problem with the nut from the handle. For me it gets loose all the time. I think the thread on the bolt is wrong way. One very big let down for me was not able to make round- and square wire. You can make only halfround and triangle and you can´t even change the lower roll so you could by a roll for round and square. I bet round and square wire is the most used wires in jewelry. But all in all, it´s good that i can my own sheet.

    I have had 2 of these and both broke the second one after two months. I would warn anyone buying one of these budget Chinese roller mills on Ebay. I am looking a one with non-interchangeable rollers. However these are pretty salty in price. Anyone have any recommendations on them I would be most thankful.

    • @cooksongold
      @cooksongold  11 днів тому

      Just taking a quick look at the product, you should have received 5 rollers in total, the wire roller needs a flat roller for the bottom in order to make D section and V section as one side needs to be flat.

    GBP 131 or USD $150 without shipping price. This is cheaper than the $167 Vevor Mill on Amazon with shipping included.
    Compare this to Durston Mini Mill at $870 sans shipping! Regular size Durston is over $1350 - ridiculous!
