Good video and helped me on my 2012 MDX. I didn't even remove the tire or put on stands, I just turned the wheel all the way to the right and crawled under there. Very easy access, took a few minutes removing the clip you have to pinch it on the top. I didn't have the correct size wrench but was able to use a adjustable wrench jut fine. Very easy repair, $45 and no more intermittent oil pressure light coming on and off all the time.

I just checked the parts listing on the parts department of an Acura dealership. The oil pressure sensor/switch on the left with the green color is called "Valve Timing Oil Pressure Switch Assembly". So it has nothing to do with the engine compartment oil pressure. The one on the right with single connector the RB The Mechanic did is the only Oil Pressure sensor responsible for the dashboard warning lights. Just my two cents

The gray one pin sensor is called oil level sensor. The green sensor at the left side is the oil pressure sensor.

I believe igot a leak coming from the oil filter housing itself….Random leaking…Is it necessary to change oil the o ring on the switches or just filter housing?

Had mine replaced two years ago, now it’s doing this again. Are these switches that bad they wear out after only a couple of years. I paid around $200 the last time to change it out.

They're not faulty. A friend of mine who's an Acura tech told me it's due to the fact that these pressure switches aren't able to read the pressure as the vehicle ages since oil pressure decreases over time. Acura has fixed this issue, but you will need to use a new OEM switch. If you don't use an OEM switch it will continue to have this issue.

    • @brianmcg321

@@itspapaj4732 I got the switch replaced at the Acura dealership. So they would have used an OEM switch. It just drives me crazy I would have to have this done again. I wish I could just unplug the sensor and be done with it. I never had a more annoying car with all these sensors going off telling me to check something when nothing is ever wrong.

It's the valve timing oil pressure switch. Since the vtec solenoid also lives on the oil filter housing, I assume the valve timing pressure switch is working alongside vtec where the other oil pressure switch shown in this vid is for startup & "normal" driving/stuff under 5k rpm.
      Just a guess.
