My daughter's birthday is 8/27 too. I put a topper on my old Dodge Dakota for fishing hunting, and camping too. I actually carpeted the bed with a thin foam under layment under the carpet, with extra padding in the pillow area. No mattress needed with a decent sleeping bag. My beagle 🙏loved our Akaska fishing trips in it. Have fun!
Super excited for ya! This changes camping on so many levels and in all the right ways, you still get the outdoors exp but you can also do it in pretty much any weather now year round.
I really understand your excitement! I just purchased a new Leer Camper Shell! Mine is black. Went with a simple build as I have to use my truck for hauling horse feed. Following your adventures!
Sup Noelle. Ft. Dad. Freaking awsome buy. That great window sliding is great when camping and have to cook inside, just open back and front windows to ventilate. Don't spend thousands on steel bed with drawers, do like beccas but seal the wood and put matting under carpet. Get solar panel for top and feed a power box. Just some ideas. Happy birthday boyfriend, glad had time with him. Ssry don't check Instagram much, still figuring it out lol.cant wait to see what come up with. Tyvm tc
Thank you for all of your ideas and advice!! Still trying to figure out exactly what I’m going to do. It’s all so exciting and new. Thank you for watching!
On the inside of the bed half way up the side you will see 4 maybe 6 indentations made to lay a 2 x 6 piece of lumber that you can plywood to make a raised floor with storage underneath ( just a thought ) your truck looks awesome !!!
I love all the tattooooos. I’ve always wanted a sleeve but have no idea what I’d get so yeah😂 Hopefully we get to see some videos soon with the camper🤞
Thank you! Just find a design you like online, and build off of it. That’s what I did! There wasn’t much honey comb ideas out there, but now they are everywhere!
I ordered a leer same has yours for my 2024 F-150, anyways best bang for the buck. I did not get the Thule Racks but can install them however another handy thing to do is install a cargo net hooked up to the bolts from the Thule rack from the inside of the carpeted ceiling. More space for storage when camping. Have a good one🇺🇸😊from🇨🇦!
I just ordered a new 100R for my 2016 Tundra. I bought a new 100R for this truck a few years ago and sold it and went to a Leer folding tonneau cover. However, for camping, the Leer 100R is handy so I ordered another one. I ordered the new RXF Texture Jet Black Matte Finish for this one rather than painted to match my truck. Cannot wait to get it.
A have a ceiling rack made with 20/80 t tracks and stainless loops and bungy cord crisscrossed. It holds a ladder and other flat stuff I need out of the way.
Try laying in the bed to see if you’re too tall for it. Mine is also a short bed. I’m 5’9 and I’m very comfortable in it. I also sleep curled up in fetal position 😂
That’s a really nice cap sliding windows roof rack I think I go with pvc for the rods thinking having rods hanging in cab take space up where you get that snack from Salem is my shopping place
Hi Noelle Happy belated Birthday to you young lady. Very nice cap you got there cant go wrong with a Leer. Fyi for some ideas for the overhead Rod holders type in Fishing rod holders for truck caps theres tons of ideas on you tube. Time to pimp out the designs of the cap now in time 🤣. Enjoy your new home away from home. 👍
That camper will pay for itself really quick. I like how you got so excited you slept in it in the driveway just to try it out. My friend did the pvc pipe thing for his rods. He put a lock on it too.
Lookin good. Having done the pvc pipe rod holders, go 8”, 6” ends up being a bit small for spinning rods without having to strip the reels off. Or check out the “yakima top water” box
Since you're building your bed camper setup from scratch, here are a couple thoughts I always have when I'm watching Becca's videos. First, the slide-out drawer with the camp stove in it should be set up so that you just pull it out and cook with the stove where it is, instead of picking up the stove and putting it in a different spot. You could have an adjustable leg that folds down from under the drawer to support it while it's pulled out. I also think Becca is losing a lot of space on the sides, between the wheel wells and the tailgate. You should have accessible storage built into those spots. Maybe your battery pack could go there. Also suggest you not have anything hacked into the starting battery. That's just asking for problems you don't need when you're out in the woods miles from civilization. Love the idea of a PVC pipe rod box on the roof rails. If you want to be fancy and you know someone with a 3D printer you could make a round-nosed cap for the front of the pipe. Just my $0.02 -- I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
All great advice! My goal is to not use the 12v attachment I put in unless for emergencies like a phone dies in the middle of no where or something. I would like to get some power system, and just like you said, have a safe place stowed away somewhere build just for it. I have a few ideas, but I’m open to change them to make it better/easier for me!
My 7 ft one piece rods are always a travel nightmare. 4” internally cushioned pvc tubes on the roof rack are one option, otherwise they are diagonal in my 6 ft box.
Nice top. Have you considered a Bedrug liner? Also, you can install a passthrough window on the truck. That way you never have to open the doors. Nice and stealthy.
_Nice!! Definitely a fine way to go with the cap. I had always had an open pickup bed. When I picked up my new to me truck last year though. It came with a caravan camper. And I'm so glad that I kept it. I built a platform for it, and it's been absolutely awesome._ 💯💯 _Ecoflow also makes solid power stations._
@@NoelleRoth Cool. Yeah for sure. One thing I'd recommend when you build your platform. If you build drawers, have plywood underneath and skip using drawer slides. Pick up some finishing wax. It really helps the drawers slide and protects the wood.
Hello. PVC pipe is ok if you only want to carry rod without reels, though unless you always use rod sleeves they will soon suffer from the vibrations and shocks from hitting each other. I would suggest making a long slim box from marine plywood. You can slant the front and also make rod holders inside to seperate the rods and stop them getting damaged (velcro stapled to the interior surface). In the long run this gives more room for the rods and you can always stuff extra gear in there that you can't with a PVC pipe. Easy to build, built for your own needs and easy to fit locks to. It would not take up much room and you could still fit a kayak or top box up there. All the best. ( if you use any type of heating a MUST have is a carbon monoxide detector/alarme).
I totally recommend the jackery, you can get some pretty dope solar panels to keep it up while you're on the road in case you don't stop at a rechargeable place, take a look at the UA-cam channel "mav" he spent years living out of the bed of his truck. Has wonderful ideas to customize a truck bed for camping, fishing, and cooking at ease. Looking forward to see what you do! God bless!
Thanks! I’ve seen a few of Mav’s videos. I think they are awesome, but I definitely want my truck to be original and built for me. Something fresh and new to UA-cam!
already very similar style to fishingwithbecca and her build, I hope you stay original. it would be a bummer to see more content like her and mav. look forward to see what you do, cheers!
Not quite sure how it already looks like hers considering I haven’t done a thing to it besides throw a pad in it to sleep on haha but the goal is to do something original, and new(ish) to UA-cam! Bought this truck two and a half years ago, and finally got enough money and time to invest in it. I’m so excited! Stay tuned to see what I create. Thanks for watching!
Can someone who has ordered one of these recently please tell roughly what you paid? I'm in Oklahoma so obviously pricing from state to state, but just trying to get a baseline for what to expect. I was quoted $,2850 for a 100R with carpet and roof rails. Thank you in advance!
