    Finally someone with side burns, I hate how a lot of woman are shamed for having side burns, mine are thick and full like yours. I love how your locs turned out they are beautiful. I don’t have traditional locs but I enjoyed watching your journey.

    the comparison of the evolution of your first set to your second set is wild! its proof that the way we start things and the intention behind the, really do matter!

    • @becomingkleo
      @becomingkleo  Рік тому

      I couldn't agree more! Putting that intention really does makes a difference. It's just proof that starting things with intention will take you far.

    Instead of complaining about your hair density she should’ve just told the truth and said she was behind and needed to take you another day. I haven’t gone to a stylist in 12+ years. They just don’t do as good of a job that I do. I established my own locs and I love them. I had to combine some (like 3 sets) but so do ppl who get their locs done and established by “professionals”. I still have starter locs as I am only 10 months in but I can kind of tell my mature locs will come out exactly the way I wanted them. Stylists just cause too much hassle and issues. They don’t listen to what we want and do their own thing. And they can be so unprofessional. Also the pricing is SO high. I always advocate for black women to take initiative with their hair. I understand not having the time and you have to weigh the pros and cons but not having to deal with stylists has been very very nice the past decade and change.

      I definitely feel you. Going to the salon isn’t for everyone. Unfortunately I’ve had negative experiences with salons 90% of the time that I’ve been. Congratulations on starting your loc Journey and for doing it yourself! I hope it continues to be a beautiful journey for you.

    Oh my goodness I've been binging loc content for like forever, I'm only 2 months into my locs and I loveee watching these types of videos. Your loc journey is so satisfying and inspiring 💖💖
    Edit: I had a similar experience with my starter locs! My loctician basically went ahead and did MICROLOCS on my head, when I just asked for small locs (and I even gave the woman a dang reference, idk how she got it so wrong!). I tried coping with my disappointment by gaslighting myself that this is what I wanted... but got rid of it in a month, and just got my mum and a friend of mine to do some twists on my head.

      Thank you so much!!! And congratulations on starting your loc journey! Omg that's wild because micro locs and small locs are completely different. Sigh. i'm not happy to hear that we had a similar experience but im glad it all worked out. 💖

    But the taper cut was supreme! I started a set of locs last year, and after 4 months I chopped them. I have been bald since August because, similar to you, I'm fed up with the work required to maintain loose, long natural hair, especially as a 4c woman myself. I had been getting box braids for 2 years prior to locking my hair because I was over it. The whole concept of a wash DAY is beyond me now. I'm in my 30s and I don't have that kind of time to dedicate to some lil bitty hairs that ain't gon do right half the time. I learned a lot about my hair in those 4 months: It was damaged from the braids. I have thin, fine low-density 4c hair so the aesthetic I was after isn't in the cards for me. I hope to try again in the future, but right now I'm enjoying being bald. I get the same relief of not having to labor for hair that locs would've given me, and I don't have to find a loctitian or learn how to install and retwist. I'm free.

    • @becomingkleo
      @becomingkleo  11 місяців тому

      Thank you! What made you want to cut your locs off? I love that you're feeling free in being bald. I'm sure it's such a liberating feeling. And yes!! All that maintenance to be a loose natural just ain't it. It's hard to keep up with and very taxing.

      @@becomingkleo Several things: I found myself regretting the middle part I had chosen. Because I damaged my hair with braids, my locs were not uniform in size or length when comparing both sides of my head. And lastly, disappointment from having thin hair. My hair in the top center of my head is the thickest, but the sides and the back are low density which was further exacerbated by the braid damage. I had thick juicy locs around the middle part, and thin unraveling noodles around the sides and back. I would often compare the size of different locs, and ponder as to how both those locs were even on the same head. When I asked a loctitian to comb them out and restart, she said it would cost $350...A haircut cost $30. That was the final straw. Now I'm bald.

      I am curious as to if she took some money off, if you ever reached back out about concerns of your hair not locking? Hmm what else, I guess where do I find patience like you?! I am on my 3rd stylist. The one that started my Locs initially I loved her and her work is amazing. BUT she worked from home and was often late for our appointments and the last time she was very late and unprofessional that I left bc she still had not arrived. To this day the last communications as sent by me! I want to begin doing my own, my 2 years is in March. I love your channel btw and your Locs
