I sold the 18-105 for the 17-70. But - I have to say - the one lens I really felt in love with is the Tamron 18-300. I own both (17-70 and 18-300). Clearly the 17-70 is a little bit sharper and has better bokeh, but the 18-300 has a nearly perfect overall quality. I'm shooting "impossibile" things with this lens.
Great comparison. Remembering that the Sony 18 -105mm maintains the same size when changing the millimeter and this makes it easier to use the gymball. Which one would you recommend for using videos on a Sony ZVE10?
Both of them are good lenses. In terms of handheld shooting 18-105 OSS is much better with any words. Tamron much brighter and has better image quality sharpness bokeh etc. If used on gimbal or tripod clearly tamron 17-70. Both good but i already sold 18-105 :D
@MobileCanal Sorry I have to disagree. Put the Tamron in a camera body with ibis and the combined stabilization will help wonders handheld. In sharpness and land speed trumps the F4 in the old 18 and 105 quality. But whatever works for you. And we all know if we're dealing with a lens that's a bit heavier than we get a heavy duty gimbal. Problem solved. But to each it's own, The Tamron 17-70mm is great for video. Just need to learn how to use it.
2.8 is better for the darker environment, but the Sony is a native lens with fantastic oss and works perfectly with my a6400, it's smaller, it's not extending when zooming which makes it perfect for gimbal but above all, has a longer reach of 35mm. If the Tamron was 17-104 i maybe would swap but as most of my usage is for daytime on very sunny days like Sharm, Gibraltar Spain and summer location holidays, i don't see the need of a zoom lens for indoor shooting and night time shooting where i use my Sigma trio F 1.4. If i should start shooting hand held at night, i will defineyly consider this lens. But as i am thinking of upgrading my camera and maybe to a full frame.... If I decide to stay with my a6400 as my Sigma lenses they don't have stabilisationi I may go for this Tamron or a Sony mm 1.8 for hand-held indoor shooting or night time shooting. .
Thx you appreciate :) at least i add that had 17-70 last week on a weeding day. I had it 90% of time on a body and it turned great so im really happy with that one :) tell me which one you prefer cause both of them are good :)
@@FreeLensImage I ended up buying the 17-70 Tamron. It should be here tomorrow. I need extra low light abilities too, so that 2.8 is what did it for me!
There’s an issue with the Tamron image stabilization and cameras with ibis. Besides, the power zoom is great for video on the fx30, compared with manual zoom on the Tamron. The fx30 is more of a great video camera that shoots great photos, so the smooth power zoom clearly wins in this camera. Another thing, if you use a gimbal, the Sony won’t have issues since the zoom is internal, the Tamron with mess up the gimbal since it changes the length of the lens (weight distribution) when zooming. It is not about numbers, it’s about the actual use. Clearly the Sony is better for the fx30 at least

Tamron hands down. Sharper and has OSS. 18-105 pales doesn't stack up F4 vs 2.8 lol
Both have image stabilization. But tamron clearly sharper with more bokeh. Tamron seems to be the ideal gun shot for weedings ;)
Sony is a video lens with OSS and constant size for gimbal. It is a best buy for this kind of use. TAMRON is for photography

But the 18 - 105 mm isn't tropicalised, it's the most important problem of the 18 - 105mm.
Tropi ... What? I dont understand what you mean. 🤷😂🤪
