Z1 Ported VQ37VHR Intake Manifod Dyno Results

- I did a real back to back comparison of the Z1 ported Intake manifold for the vq37vhr. My baseline when I came in was 322whp and my final and highest run was 340whp. First runs were with out the manifold. 2nd runs were with the manifold and no tuning. 3rd runs were with timing adjustments. 4th runs were with the bay doors open. Opening the doors dropped the temps in the shop by about 15 degrees which I believe caused the jump in power.

Great numbers for no forced induction breh, cant wait too to put some Z1 shii in my g37 ☺
BIG DIFFERENCE, I THOUGHT THOSE 329 NUMBERS WERE STUCK FOR A MINUTE, BUT WHEN THE 340 MARK HIT, OH YEA, I'LL TAKE IT.
when i saw the numbers after the tune i was like wtf is point getting the ported intakes but after the cool air came now i can comfortably say i will be buying the upper and lower z1 intakes when i get my car
Not convinced the intake made the power. Open the barn doors and increase timing and you probably end up with the same result.
Fernando Hood bro i have a question ehat is a barn doors??
Bro, it has been factually proven time and time again that long tube intakes on a 370z can have anything from a 16+ whp gain
@@jamesyboy5913 Show me proof.
@@jamesyboy5913stock intake boxes with drop in filters gain about as much as longtube cold air intakes for not even a fraction of the price and don't risk your engine getting hydrolocked.
i got the same feeling. Those intake mods will only make a difference with a tune, which by itself, the tune will make more power regardless. Id port my intakes only if I was boosted
Would you recommend the nst pulleys?
The hp being the same (320ish) with the stock manifold vs the Z1, I wonder if you could've achieved the same final result with a tune on the stock. Or was that first run with a tune on the stock manifold?
What's the benefit on the manifold power wise
These dyno numbers are all over the place as if it were being manipulated. First stock run was 287. Then the other stock runs were about 322. After the plenum and timing it was about 325. Then just by opening the garage doors it jumped to 340. ??????
Great numbers bro. What are your supporting mods? Are those stillen gen 3?
Quite a few runs...was that to establish a reliable average or there was a minor tune between each run?
Stop Telling Me What To Write there were minor tunes between each run.
How is your hash flare now?
At first it looked like crap but at the end you got a impressive number
What are all the mods on the car ?
Great numbers but remember always get tuned on a dyno jet for accurate number
it would have been better if you did the tune on the stock to see if the manifold helped the tune. I think the tunes helped get to that mark however what the car with same tune on the stock manifold would have been nice to see
the car was tuned on the stock manifold already.
ok cool thanks
so it made about 5hp on the previous tune and a new tune with it got the car up past the 40s
What other mods have you done? Great numbers by the way.
Thanks. I have AAM intakes, art pipes, Ark grip exhaust, nst pulleys and uprev tune
Nice! Congrats again on those numbers!
Also, where did you get this tuned?
+Rusty Murphy Hills Garage in Baltimore
Ajcool2 you stay in maryland
Nice!
+Majestechs thanks
I got hosed for one of those manifolds intake plenum, for $750. Plus I had to give them mine. And it was no difference...nothing...nada...don't do it. Its a waste of money and effort. Period.
did you already have high flow cats and exhaust? i wouldnt do the manifold until after those mods. the exhaust is a bigger choke. if you let more air in, you gotta let more out
@@Cheeseypoofs85 or better yet a straight pipe set up would help more, like the Amuse R1000 3"inch single exit Titanium exhaust with tomei test pipe and amuse headers of course with some Z1 CAI. A friend of mine is going to get that set up. Plus the kinetix manifold will keep you be future proof when you start camming the car E85 and especially turboing it.
I live in Nevada, Las Vegas so we dont have that CARB law Cali. Has so getting away with full straight pipe exhaust is easy over here. This car needs all the air it can get even with the high flow cats its still restrictive.
Those intake are nothing. Just remove your cat, replace it with test pipe and you'll see more power
@@bobbyma901 I Did get test pipes on my cats location . I notices LESS Power cause how noticeably bad my acceleration was .
3 inch intakes, ported manifold, test pipes and single exit ?
Y pipe?
Was this the top half ported or bottom or both?
Just the top
@@ajcool2 you should do both soon
Just wanted to drop this knowledge on the HR / VQ35HR guys like myself… We have (3) options!!! Check below:
(1) Yes, you can install the Z1 Motorsports HR Upper & Lower manifolds & get great results as well, we’re not left out.
(2) You can install VHR / VQ37VHR Upper & Lower Manifolds onto your HR / VQ35HR engine, it fits and works (Needs VHR Fuel Rail & Dummy Plug / Old MAP Sensor to keep the MAP Sensor hole plugged).
(3) Install a Z1 Motorsports Ported VQ37VHR Upper & Lower Manifold. Get the best of all worlds.
*** Whats the difference? On my 2007 V36 G35S 6MT Sedan with VQ35HR engine:
Before - shifting at roughly 7,800 RPM’s / 8,000 RPM’s, next gear the RPM’s drop to roughly around 4,500 RPM’s.
After - shifting at roughly 7,800 RPM’s / 8,000 RPM’s, next gear the RPM’s drop to roughly 6,100 RPM’s, maybe a just a little bit more (could be tire spin).
So basically the intake manifold alone did nothing? Not worth the buy?
If you can buy it for a low price I'd say its worth it.
are you going to do the lower...I'm doing both myself
larry t smooth so, did you did it? I’m thinking do both too
OK so if bhp is 300 you can say the bhp increase is 15-20hp+? Ima have to consider dropping 500 on this soon.. Lol sounds worth it
ayedylan it's really 290 or so after you send in your stock core
@@kylestewart8317 well with out the intake he made 322whp which is very impressive in cold air and a tune made 349 whp even more crazy so +27whp increase very much worth the money in my opinion
Bruh good numbers
thanks man
was this upper and lower plenum
larry t smooth just the upper
@@ajcool2 nice num bro , if I get the upper plenum do I really need the lower plenum as well for max gains
Thank you for this video!
But after seeing this, I wouldn’t pay the $500+ asked by Z1.
I see the stock timing with the new plenum only averaged a gain of 3HP
Even after a timing adjustment, the average gain was only 8hp
(The last run doesn’t count because you’re not working with the same environment variables as your first 3 runs)
You're correct. If you are doing the porting yourself it may be worth it. It really depends on how bad you want every single HP out of your car.
340whp wow, means ur pretty close to 400hp crank, that's mustang 5.0 territory without the extra wight
400hp assuming 15% drivetrain loss
Stock S197 5.0 seem to put down 365-385whp. Base models are 3350-3450 (‘11-12) and 3450-3550 (‘13-‘14). The S550s make a bit more power stock, but also weigh more. Z is in the mix with these numbers. The issue is 5.0s also have great gearing and make power up top. Shoot, anything ‘18+ with the DI motor and the 10 speed auto is in another league.
@@rachelleb.2392 Indeed still not bad for a car that really hasn't been updated since 2012.
They did just show off a 370z with a vr30 motor at Sema though and those make nearly 370whp stock and around 430 with a tune and exhaust.
Soo we shall see if Nissan decides to build it next year. Mustang could use the competition.
Matthew Molens well the engine is in the car with ac and everything so is whp
@Matthew Molens to measure crank HP you need to remove the transmission and measure the power right in there, at the crank.
If you measure in the wheels like this video, that, is wheel HP because it was measured at the wheels and therefore you have those known power losses
was this being tuned of STD. or SAE ?
+meng her can't remember
Do eps throttle bodies yet?
+Renata Celis Yeah but I didn't like the results so I took them off and sold them
Ajcool2 whats the results?
My z 2015
3 bolt.on 93 pump 347;) of course AdminTuning
Those are inflated numbers. My g made 312whp and I e beaten ‘’337’’ admin cars
@Rob K. no issue
what bolt ons?
damn
is this an automatic?
Yes it is
Very unstructured and confusing runs. I am not clear on what the manifold is doing.
i have a 03 maxima. i wanted to ask you some questions on mods and tuning
+03Vq Danny sure wassup
+ajcool2 i have intake and catback exhaust. i wanted to know what other mods are good for power gains
+03Vq Danny let's see a 4 inch intake, underdrive pulley, 3 inch exhaust, headers, test pipe, nwp spacers, SSIM, NWP block off plate, nwp throttle body kit, tune and a small shot of nitrous. That will have you running against most street cars
+ajcool2 where go place to get an underdrive pulley and tune?
Ajcool2 I think a 4" intake would likely lose power on the low-mid range on an n/a app. most people would rather have streetable power than peak numbers
ok so i install the new plenum do i have to tune my car or dyno it or can i just install the me plenum
If you want the full potential out of the car you'll want to tune it. It's not absolutely needed though.
ok thanks because i’ll eventually tune it but i just bought isr test pipes and y pipe kinetix plenum and stylin gen3 intake so the tune is out of budget for a while now
luis gonzalez With the test pipes + manifold etc. you need to tune sooner than later. Pretty sure it said on Z1 website to tune for safe operation of that mod. Z1 assumes you did supporting mods such as cat, exhaust, intake if your installing this.
@@luisgonzalez-bz6zh where can I buy the kinetix plenum????
Is this car supercharged? If no, its not possible to have almost stock 322whp...its more bhp i guess
I wish it was supercharged lol. It's all motor with bolt ons. These are common numbers for 370z's. I'm now making 338 hp and will soon be getting retuned and making more.
What year is the car?
So it did nothing.
