This makes so much sense. I kept hearing if you are plus and short avoid belts, but I love them. They always just felt right. I also heard if you are plus avoid trouser pleats, but I find them so flattering. I have a pregnant body type, but feel better about myself than when I was skinny. All thanks to my style journey. Finally, someone with my body type! I dont have a large bust or wide hips, but I do have a big belly and butt. So often I feel like an egg😅. Ill give it a try 😊
One of my favorite topics that I struggle with.
It’s funny to me that most people consider the waistline to be at the navel and it’s actually the smallest part above the navel. I sew and that’s where my point of reference comes from.
I love how you style belts and I keep working at it.
I just bought a few elastic metallic and part elastic leather belts as well as one for my jeans.
Please keep teaching us about belts.
One of my issues is the fabric that slides with wear. I don’t know what to do with it lol. (Worst pupil in the class)

I think it's a matter or preference. I sometimes blouse my top over the belt a little to give me room to move. 😉

I bought 2 Obi belts after seeing you style them. However, they never seem to stay in place, especially as I'm sitting/ standing. Do you have any advice on it?

I also have that issue. If it loosens up or moves I discreetly adjust it back to where it should be when I stand up. As long as it’s not incredibly loose it will naturally settle where it should. 😉💕

Hi Oralia, With regards to the black leatherette obi belt...Did you find the measurements on Amazon for the size XXL accurate? To fit waist 35 to 40 inches? Thanks Teresa
I think it’s longer than that, or so the one I received was. I compared it to the one I have in XL and there is a noticeable difference in length. The XXL should easily fit a 35 - 40 inch waist. 😉💕
Tried it and belts just make my hips look so much bigger. So this idea wont work for me...but thanks.
Whenever I wear a belt I feel so uncomfortable when I sit down. It rides up and makes me feel self conscious. I wish you could come to my home/closest and tell me how to dress! 😂
I do virtual styling, if you’re interested. 😉 As far as the belt riding up, sometimes that happens to me. I just loosen it a little bit and then adjust it if I need to stand. 🙂💕
I’m not in a place in my life right now. I’m 64, have rheumatoid arthritis, and recently lost 25#. I’ve thinned out my closet of everything that was too big, so there is hardly anything left! I’m working on building up my closet again, starting with foundation pieces. I don’t work anymore and it seems like I only have to dress up maybe once every couple months, but I still like to look nice. You seem so put together. I love your channel.
