    Hit the nail on the head. What angers & saddens me is that plus size people are judged as lower class or not worthy by some. I sometimes used to tell my husband (RIP) who was a successful business owner be careful what you wear when meeting a client, you will be judged (sadly) by first impressions & not the smart & good person you are. It has happened to me.

      It's a subconscious reaction in a lot of cases but sometimes, it's intentional. Always look your best because you never know who you're going to meet. 😉

    A great list of things that we all need to know. Being a plus-size woman is not an excuse to look sloppy. Being neat and presentable is something we should strive for every day.

    I worked with a beautiful plus size woman and she was the most stylish and most coordinated woman I have ever known. I used to compliment her all of the time. It doesn't matter the size is how you carry yourself as well.

    I have learned alot this year about clothing especially for plus size; one of the most important thing I learned is tailoring: I have big hips but a smaller waist; to get the pants to fit well the waist always is big; if I got something from a more upscale store then I will get it tailored: though I have found some great pants from Walmart that I had tailored that are really very nice.

    I hear your disclaimer and know you mean this with kindness. I’m not sure about the term “cheap”. Do you mean “unwilling to spend money” or “trashy” or “inferior” or “lacking taste”? (I checked out some dictionary definitions) I am wary of labelling people because of personal taste. There’s real risk of offending, especially people who can’t afford anything but low cost clothing, and it suggests that people should follow one specific set of rules. Posture is a risky area to mention as some people have medical conditions that impact their posture. I’d hate to think we’d judge them as “cheap” fit something they can’t help.
    As for too much perfume, that’s inconsiderate of others and chipped nail polish looks unkempt. Totally with you on them.

    • @SunnyDays00
      @SunnyDays00 4 місяці тому +4

      Either definition of ' cheap' is to be avoided. You can have less expensive clothes..but wear them well..ironed..not ripped.. not revealing too much skin..not too tight etc etc etc. Lets not get triggered on purpose

    • @abcstyles
      @abcstyles 21 день тому

      I agree because “cheap” means “worth more than it costs” and is not a negative term because it can be applied to a company like Quince.

    People who wear too much perfume often do so by mistake. They keep adding more and more frgrance on until THEY can smell it, (because they had worn so much of it before, their nose no longer picks up that scent,)

    Every point you have addressed are true. As a child my mother always said is in the constitution of the garment not the label that makes it a quality piece. She was in the textile industry she knew what to look for in garments. She also said to learn to coordinate clothing to look your best. I always struggle with that so I go to Pinterest to see how to coordinate clothing. And regarding fragrance I never saw it that way. You have opened my eyes. I am guilty in using a bit more. I thought I had to be in a cloud of scent… mi ignorancia.

    This is such good video!! I watch you a lot. I’d agree with all you say and I appreciate the reminders. I’m bad about posture. We naturally straighten up or fix our expressions in front of the mirror naturally but if we are leaning on things or all slouchy, we are literally a pushover. We can’t stand our ground. We know how to stand. I’m so bad about this but working on it. Anyway, always looking to improve. Thanks so much.

    Although I agree with some of the points in this video, this video is for those people who are not sure what to wear or how to wear it. But, if a person feels comfortable and confident in what they’re wearing, then they should wear it, regardless of another people’s opinion because another person’s opinion is more about that person than it is about the person wearing the item.

    I have watched you long enough to know that you would never purposely hurt someone's feelings. I agree with you about looking cheap when showing too much skin; just wish the younger generation watched your channel too! I'm right there with you when it comes to the distressed jeans! Never understood the trend; all the young people wear them! 🙄 Too much perfume and cheap fragrances are terrible! For older women, I think nail polish colors should be either natural looking and not wild colors that a younger person wears. Keeping your hair color and cut appropriate for your age will also make one look better. Long and flowing gray hair is not attractive neither is the skunk stripe down your part. Also, pastel colors in your hair looks ridiculous and cheap. Great video! 💙

    On the fragrance issue? Because some people see nothing wrong with skanking up the area they are shopping in ( public spaces) with their use of weed. They smell like they went out driving hit a poor innocent skunk , stopped the car and proceeded to go roll in the skunk carcass like a dog in poo. I Need my scent bubble . Not to the use a bottle a week ( oof ! That will trigger eye watering and migraines even in D&G Lt. Blue! ) but some trail . An enticing amount not a tsunami .

    To the looking cheap by wearing too much jewelry - I read in a fashion book that the author had a client that did that . She wore a ton of real gold chains and it was so much that though she was wearing a fortune in gold all the time she never got mugged for it on her walks home in the city. It was so much that it looked like it couldn’t be real . She looked like she was wearing cheap Claire’s junk because of the lack of edit .

    I absolutely hate distressed jeans and will not buy them. I also can’t stand stretch jeans. I don’t know why it is impossible to find jeans without spandex. I wish I knew where I could find some actual good denim jeans. Also, I have a few pieces of clothing from Cato‘s, but I stopped shopping there because they are entirely fast fashion. They want people to impulse buy clothes that are so trendy that they’re going to be out of style in a year or two. I can’t stand fast fashion because it is bad for the planet.

    I haven't watched the video and probably won't because I'm dismayed by the use of the word 'cheap.'
