5 Minute Locker Install in a Toyota

- Installing a Spartan lunchbox style locker in a 2nd Gen Toyota 4Runner. Installation is fairly easy and can be done by the average garage mechanic. We test it out the following morning at 7Mile ORV park and what a difference. We made it through the same obstacle in 2WD that we have struggled with in 4WD. More to come on Kevin’s 4Runner.

Never seen a 2 door 2nd gen till now and wow I like it ! I have a 5 inch lifted 3rd gen 4Runner on 33 inch tires and 17 inch rims
The 2 door 2nd gen 4Runner is rare, pretty cool to see one. Wish I could work that fast...
Didn't even know they made a 2 door 2nd gen!
Man i miss my 2 door from Canada. So bitchin to see one in action again!
If it's all the same to you Einstein, for convenience/bang for buck $ Lincoln Locking a diff
is the fastest way there is with instant results I was sick of being stuck on wet grass it was embarrassing
I 100% recommend a Lincoln Lock on any vehicle if fast results is needed.
When I did mine we spent some time measuring the backlash. It barely makes a pop when I'm cornering on pavement. But man, what an incredible difference offroad. I barely use 4 wheel drive anymore. Man is it fun in 3 feet of powder...
This locker is full time locked?
@@Djkommode when you apply any torque it locks up. When you go around corners it disengages.
Very cool! well over five minutes though :)
Well, thanks guys...now I'm gonna look into lockers. I'll look for you out at 7 mile.
Yo Nate I will Lincoln Lock your Diff for free at my shop I've never had one fail.
Where can I buy this? Have a 2wd 3rd gen 4runner
That's a long five minutes.
So what actuates the locker are they manually locking hubs or did you just install limited slip diff I don't understand because I didn't see you guys run any lines to the diff No airlines no electric lines Nor did I say you lock the hubs manually So is it just a limited slip dif you guys installed?
They replaced the spider gears in the rear diff with an auto locker (lunchbox). They are a bit more crude than selectable lockers but better than a welded axle. generally work pretty well for a fraction the cost of a selectable.
Yeah the “lunchbox” style lockers are rudimentary but for a non-daily it’s great. Just got to mind it on the pavement when cornering or it will bind up. It’s really fun on ice 😂
@@boostrodeooffroad192 What about finding a junkyard elocker I'm putting that in?
@@davidaix5771 my buddy is doing the same thing. He’s made more money parting out the truck than he paid for it. All he wanted was the axles. 👍
5mins lol yeah nothing on these trucks takes 5 mins
However long you think it's going to take, multiply it by 4! That's how long it's really going to take.
