  • As cancer care continues to evolve rapidly, treatments often require unique solutions and, increasingly, sub-specialized expertise. The recent push in managed care toward narrow networks and insurance products that disincentivize access to NCI-designated cancer centers is contributing to significant disparities in cancer care outcomes.​ When cancer treatments were less effective and less complex, limiting access to expertise had less impact. But as advancements in cancer care continue to evolve, the knowledge gap between the sub-specialists at academic institutions and community providers is rapidly widening, leaving many patients behind.
