- Paul Edmonds, otherwise known as the 'City of Hope Patient' is the 5th person cured of HIV. He received a bone marrow transplant to treat his leukemia and the donor also had the CCR5 Delta 32 mutation that would render Paul immune to HIV-1. I had the pleasure of sitting down with him to learn about his life, his long-time relationship, and his experience going from living with HIV for decades to suddenly HIV negative.

Beautiful things happen, and when Paul Edmond’s life was at extreme risk he was gifted with another chance in life. I understand that many people see him and think of a cure, he signifies hope for many of us, just like all the others that have been cured. With that said, there is no definitive solution and we have to be very grateful that our condition doesn’t kill us anymore when properly medicated.

Amazing as usual! One question I always wonder for these cured people is if their long term GI issues go away as well.
Over 75% of people under treatment still have somewhat loose stools, and so far they don’t have much for it because the virus still replicates in the gut despite treatment..

What I noticed with undetectable HIV patients undergoing newest modern HIV treatment is that they exceedingly look physically healthy.
but also i know who never took meds 15+ yrs and are still healthy..
I messed around not taking meds as prescribed in the 90ties and mutated from an entire class. Fortunately another group of HIV drugs came and have kept me with no viral load for 18 years. Now at 66 my body visceral fat is changing an enlarged liver and damage. My doc wants to put me on other meds later on that have less metabolic effects. Egrifta growth hormone lasts 2 years and helps some with fat with dieting. Also just testosterone as it reduces belly fat. Sometimes I get so depressed about this virus. It want die until I die.

Stem cell transplant is very expensive and quite risky. It's used as a salvage therapy for certain forms of cancer after other treatment has failed. In some cases it's also helped cure the person not only of cancer but of HIV. But this therapy is not for general use. Lots of research being done to develop potential cure strategies for those of us who do not have cancer.
There will also be a cure in the herbs, but the question is, who will discover the herb 🌿?
