A lot of people can be savants or have potential but struggle with reading or coping with todays education system (Sol definitely is a special type of person.) I mean, has there ever been a researcher that decided to switch gears and become a bounty hunter, lol? In real life?
A really cool thing about I-Nos death is that in Xrds finale when Axl gives up on returning to the past, he talks about how sweet and lovely Megumis smile is and in Strive he recognizes I-No immediately when he sees her smile.
Requiem might be the most underrated songs in all of Guilty Gear. No other song has made me suddenly cry with the lyrics. The final verse caught me off-guard while I was scanning my answers for an exam and then, it hit me. We were both accepting faith at that moment, although in highly different contexts, and we did our best. Masterpiece. I ended up approving the course.
I-No’s a pretty great character. She has a great design, a fun personality, and a pretty cool story behind her. I just have 1 problem. She feels like, imo, a major victim of Giant Death Robot syndrome when it comes to character writing. I-No’s motivation and her goals most of the time are completely Morally right and justifiable (from what I’m hearing here) and yet is portrayed as an antagonist. Modern Day writers often like to write sympathetic villains but sometimes they write a Villain who makes too good of a point and actually has goals and motivation that are completely right, to the point where the audience is like “Wait, why are they bad again?” So to make up for this, and most likely make themselves feel better about the person they chose to portray as the villain, they turn around and go like “Yeah they have a good goal BUT NOW THEY’RE PILOTING A DEATH ROBOT TO GET THERE! See they really are evil!” Which then almost completely makes everything about what they’re trying to do mean absolutely nothing so the writers don’t have to worry about the moral implications about killing them off in their story and make the consumers not feel as bad about rooting for them to get up ended. I-No probably suffers from this a little bit. I say probably cause I haven’t played through strive’s story, but I have played through the other story modes she has a major role in and most of the time I didn’t even realize she was supposed to be. Often most of the things I-No does (if remember correctly) that are considered bad seemed a little off for her to me, but I’m also willing to accept that hell I might just not know the character very well. But it’s weird to me how much of a push there was for her to be an antagonist when there are people in Guilty Gear who do equally bad, if not worse, things then I-no who do not get the same development and have far… FAR less morally right motivations for what they want to do and yet for some reason she’s the one to be Axed off and made an Arcade mode final boss. That’s like having Yukon Terumi in your blazblue story and yet having Hakumen be the main villain (someone who is completely justifiable on why he does what he does). Yeah that’s not a perfect analogy but you get my point. I don’t think I-no necessarily deserved to be shoved in the role of an antagonist in Guilty Gear’s story and I think that’s the only problem I personally have with her character. Bad writers made an awesome character and then put them in a place that they didn’t fit in within their story.
I personally don't agree. Every single villain in guilty gear has a sympathetic or tragic motivation (justice is aria losing control and going mad with the realisation of what she did, the conclave tried to control the world to eradicate evil, the universal will was a robot coming to the conclusion that humanity will end up causing themselves suffering of unimaginable scale and being bound by its programming and madness to destroy in order to rebuild again) and it is a very strong recurring theme. It is not a coincidence that both sol and ky, 2 of the most wise and important characters, talk in their songs about about freedom, justice, perspective, and worldviews in general. Something this video didn't talk about in details is ino's inhumanity. Her not being able to feel things, to remember her happy moments, and seeing the future in gray, sounds alot like depression, taken to the anime extreme. Her journey to gain her power back isn't just about fixing the world, but also about fixing herself. And when she finally gets her powers and becomes a god, the world around her literally turns gray. She has achieved ultimate power, yet she still feels nothing, and there is no more thing to achieve, no more power to gain. She got everything she wanted, but she still feels nothing. This is why she needed to be stopped, she simply could not exist in the state she was in. I don't feel it's "oh no god! Kill it!", I think its more of a tragedy, a truly good person that must be stopped.
@@maorivirs8752 Fair. Maybe she doesn’t quite fall into Giant Death Syndrome, but I still think it’s dumb that I-No, who not only had morally sound goals and was well justified in her actions (and being a victim of depression on top of that,) was put into the role of a sub boss Antagonist who has to be stopped at all costs when she deserved a lot more then that. It kinda leaves a sour aftertaste for me personally and it’s kinda unsatisfactory to hear. Like, Testament is a character who was an antagonist and then grew out of that role and their character growth is great. Seeing Testament overcome Trauma and move past his previous actions; Now striving to help benefit the world and growing to trust humanity despite their history is really nice and a really satisfying way to take her character. I guess I just think I-No could (and should’ve I’d argue) get something like that would have been a better direction. So yeah, fair, but still doesn’t really make it any better a pill to swallow. But I also haven’t played Strive’s story yet cause I’m too broke to buy the game so take all of this with a grain of salt ig
@@Nothingtotheleft i agree that they could have done more with her character. I would also like to mention that during strive, she did not interact with almost any character, even that man, despite being the antagonist. In general strive's story is very weak, it feels like they had a solid plan but ran out of time and budget so they had to change and cut things, leading to some bad power scaling, characters being shoved to very minor roles, characters acting strangely, and the most bullshit deus ex machina I've ever seen. There were some good things tho, like happy chaos and... Daryl, somehow (I have no clue how they made him this interesting). I would also like to mention that strive story mode doesn't contain any type of gameplay, it is a literal movie (like xrd) so you can easily find it on UA-cam with good quality and you won't miss out on anything that you get from buying the game and viewing story mode. Great video really helped me better understand In-o's story since alot of wit was lost on me in the details. One thing I would say is about the soundtrack In-o's theme is not the only one that breaks that general rule of the character's perfect world. Potemkin's theme, Armor Clad Faith, is more about the lack of ability for him to create the world he desires and his feeling of inadequacy in his place in life. It's less about what his perfect world is and more about the fact he can NEVER reach his goals of a better, safer world for all. I really wish in the story modes of some of the games they explored his personality and gave him more character depth because Strive's theme is basically the first piece of official game media (to my knowledge) to flesh out his character more than "proud stoic protector". There's a lot left open and unexplored with his character that I wish we could see more of. Yes I wrote this entire comment based off one short part of this video because I wanted an excuse to talk about Potemkin GIVE ME A BREAK I LOVE MY GIANT MUSCLY BOY. Great video again love your content.

Good vid. It annoys me when people disregard GG characters' lore as 'convoluted anime bullshit' when there's so much depth and interesting concepts there.

@@seokkyunhong8812 I think thats a pretty valid way to look at it. It is extremely complex and convoluted, with a bunch of crazy and sometimes confusing terminology, but what matters in the end is that Guilty Gear manages to use this convoluted world and tell a good story with it.
I-no isn't dead btw. It seems like she's dead at the end of the story mode but she replaces herself with a past version of herself. Happy Chaos' arcade mode shows where they both ended up and its revealed that they got stuck in a paradox. I-no decides to stay seeing how it's a timeline she's happy with.
Great video! This really sums up I-no's character well. If possible, could you do similar videos for Zato and Milia? I love their songs in Strive but still can't wrap my head around their history together.
2:11 Unrealated but if you read Mary Shelly's Frankenstien the moral isn't actually not to mess with nature but to take responsibility for doing so. Frankenstein created the monster just to prove he could and then immediately abandons what is essentially a giant super baby. The monster itself specifically calls out parrallels between himself and adam being created by God as well as Lucifer in paradise lost rebelling against a cruel and horrible creator even if it means doing terrible things yourself. Pretty much the reason what Frakenstien creates is a monster rather than a wonder is that he treated it as one, even as it's ego and intelligence grew to reflect himself.
I got interested in strive because of I-no ,i love a witch girlboss ,stayed for happy chaos but oh well ,i believe that chaos and her are now chilling in the backyards having a beach episode like the villains in the beginning of jjk😂

May I ask for your interpretation of how Hellfire is Leo's ideal perfect world? I understand where you're coming from with the other songs, but I just don't see how it applies to Hellfire.
Sure i Talked about it in my Leo Video i Did, but i interpret like this. While the Song Does Talk About Leo's PTSD And Grief over the Events of the Crusades, its also his Condemnation of War. he Wants for the Violence and War to End and focus on Protecting Those he Still Has, Therefore his perfect world is a world without war and violence

We can't only look at plus frames otherwise the people making tier list every week would be right.
@@justafanboy3968 u cant use them if u dont have them. Yes. They are essential for pressure. Cos more plus moves u have - more stronger your pressure is. And Ino is a RUSHDOWN character as devs tells us. And it means - its a character who has troubles to get in but it should have strong pressure tools. But she has no strong pressure tools. Her pressure itself is bad and interruptable. She has no true mix-ups and has only false mix-ups in her possesion. (if u dont know the difference between true and false mix-ups is - true mix-up is when u need to guess what will it be low or overhead and false mix-up is when there is a difference in moves so u can read or react for what it will be). And even more - she has 10+ frames of start-up for her overhead which is laughable. Ino is a trash tier character rn in strive. She has no hp no easy damage no easy buttons no pluses no range she still has half of her moves basically unusable in high-up matches cos they are all punishable. And they keep nerfing her and buffing characters like Nago. So there is no reason to play Ino when u can play Baiken or Bridget with the same gameplay and more powerful tools. Ino just not fun to play cos its always - to suck. U still can win on her if your opponent let u win. But if not - u will lose for 100%. And its all on the character side. Even Daru and Diaphone has hell of a struggle rn on this characters. And they spent a lot of their time in the game. So... nhah

A really good interpretation, pots cool wish they did a side story for him like they did Delilah

Really well done video this has made me appreciate ino a lot as a newer gg fan!
Good vid. It annoys me when people disregard GG characters' lore as 'convoluted anime bullshit' when there's so much depth and interesting concepts there.
i completely agree, The Amount of Care Put into gears Story is Impressive, its sad that people see something like the backyard and disregard it entirely
I mean, por que no los dos? Let's not pretend that GG lore isn't a terminology dump
@@seokkyunhong8812 I think thats a pretty valid way to look at it. It is extremely complex and convoluted, with a bunch of crazy and sometimes confusing terminology, but what matters in the end is that Guilty Gear manages to use this convoluted world and tell a good story with it.
This one does time travel right. Like seriously many story that uses time messed up so bad it causes the story to not make sense.
This is the last time I ever drink something while watching anything you make.
Came here from the blazblue vid and like please keep on doing these sincere and fun vids about things you love it feels good
I-no isn't dead btw. It seems like she's dead at the end of the story mode but she replaces herself with a past version of herself. Happy Chaos' arcade mode shows where they both ended up and its revealed that they got stuck in a paradox. I-no decides to stay seeing how it's a timeline she's happy with.
Highly quality upload, it drips of the passion you put into it. Congrats on the 5k!

i just recently found your videos and love them
I already know why I care about I-no, because I'm horn- Just kidding. I've been needing to read up on her lore for a while so thanks for the vid.
Great video! This really sums up I-no's character well. If possible, could you do similar videos for Zato and Milia? I love their songs in Strive but still can't wrap my head around their history together.
I-No is truly one of the Guilty Gear characters of all time!
The guiltiest gear

Really great, solid, vid and I really enjoyed this I-no content. These are really good reasons to enjoy a character, better than my reasons of: lol funny former crackhead is the president and one of Jam's Midnight Carnival endings has her take Ky on a picnic and its really cute so I like Ky now.
Tbh those are good reasons, sometimes a character is funny and that's all you need
Sweet video, I didn't really know all that much about her before, but she's super interesting.

Did the God I-No died, or did she got reverted back to Megumi, lost chunks of her memories, and then found Axl on the bench, or was the supposed Megumi/I-No on that Axl bench scene actually the Megumi from Axl's timeline??? It makes me wonder all the time, kinda sad that I-No died like that 🤔🤔🤔

great video
I’mma confess that I haven’t played Strive yet cause I’m broke, but also because I could never understand what was going on. Like sure, I got down how the characters acted and their basic roles in the plot, though I never knew what that plot actually was. But this video, besides being a solid 9/10 character study, puts the lore in a nice summary that personally helps me understand a little more what the hell’s going on. Great Video man, keep it up.
I prefer yelan because she's the upgrade version of I-No

Shame Ino is such garbage character in strive thou. Pick Nago - press buttons - have fun. Or pick bridget - press buttons - have fun. Bridget is Ino but works. And have a DP. And have good hitboxes.
I think devs get it too literally "make Ino suck" uknow.
No I don't, Ino isn't garbage, she's a cut above the other low tiers and sits comfortable around a or b tier. And no Bridget is not ino with a DP utter delusions
@@BeatriceRenhart Ino is a character which has no plus moves. No garbage at all. A tier. Sure.
@@ЙирюВонаирда it's not about the plus frames... it's about how you use them.
but in seriousness there's a ton of stuff you "can" do in any fg which you'll have to excuse me if I haven't played in a bit but plus moves are used on pressure right, well when you have no plus frames you need to out space the opponent and consider other aspects of your moves.
So... nhah
@@ЙирюВонаирда Your right, she does have no "easy" damage but I think your being overly negative, I guess it's my fault for really gettin involved in this cause I remember now that you don't try and change someone's opinion on the internet and I suppose this is simply your opinion and that's fine but I would try and be a little more hopeful or positive. I won't try and say that I play In-o and understand the struggle and understand how you can play her but she has options and it comes down to how you use them and your rps, I don't feel like goin on with this comment string from here on out cause I don't think much will come from this, I think we just have to accept we have our own views that's all.
No I’m not gonna care about I-no. After what she’s done to me, I’m good, she can not come back for all I care
What she's done to you ? 💀
Got fucked up by the mix, huh?

I-No has always been one of my least favorite characters more because of lore than gameplay. I mean that I hate her in the same vein that people hate Terumi from Blazblue, he's a great villain but a terrible person, I-No is very much in that same vein of being a great character but a terrible person.
i think she is a pretty good hearted person who just happens to be misguided, but i do get your point
@@BeatriceRenhart I don't think she's a misunderstood good guy at all because she causes too much harm and has a lot of fun of with it for that kinda thing.
@@badconnection4383 I Dont think shes a good guy, but from how i see it, shes trying to be a hero making a brighter future, but approaching it without Humanity, leading to Her take Inhuman actions. Her end goal is good but the path she takes is evil.
