5 years ago I ordered a 8 GB SD micro card from deal extreme, when it arrived and started to use it. It appeared to be a 512MB Micro SD card. and when I realized that, the card became corrupted, absolutely premium quality right there.
People were doing this with hard drives 20 years ago. People were legitimately unlocking spaced determined to be unreliable on HD 20 years ago too. "Fake Space" and "Found Storage" with storage medium has a long history.
Also manufactures advertise a GB as 1000000000 bytes (1000x1000x1000) However there are 1073741824 bytes in gigabyte (1024x1024x1024) these days they call that a gibibyte. So in short. Computers phones and your switch read storage as a gibibyte (the correct way to interpret storage space) manufacturers will advertise as gigabyte. This means if you get a 512gb SD card (when they really come out) your switch will say it has 476.837gb of storage, not 499gb.
There are programs you can use to reflash the SD card to be able to use the amount of memory it does have(i.e 4GB). However these cards are not worth it because they are often very low quality and extra slow as well.
I don't usually laugh on Spawn Wave, but this one was funny. I love how informative your videos are but it's nice to have one of these humorous ones every once in a while.
