Memory is a wonderful thing, In an interview for BBC's Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, David Cameron the then PM of Britain praised Tony Blair and said he still believes going to war with Iraq was the right thing to do, ( the war, was voted against by over 25% of Labour MP's ) he said the war had been "very unpopular" and some bad decisions had been made since it began but stood by the decision, that was voted in favour by over 86% of his Party's for the invasion said "those of us who supported" the military action should "see it through".

He's business friendly that is not socialist. He was working class with a mum a nurse and a toolmaker dad, but not as poor as Rayner and crucially went to a top university and has done well. Based on his very moderate pledges, more moderate than Blair axing Corbyn and Diana, he's a centrist he's moved the party to the centre, and gone back on nationalised policies which he promised during the leadership election. Centrist liberal isn't what most people call socialist.

My daughter worked in a private school for work experience. the cars the parents were driving were not posh.
@@tonydalton6756 I agree with you. Many (very) working class people I know scraped and saved to get their kids away to Public School, so they could get the best possible education. Which is not something you can be assured of in state schools these days, with all the overcrowding - especially in the inner cities. This really won't have any effect on the wealthier people who send their kids to Public Schools, it's those from the working classes it'll make the most difference to. Labour really don't think things out.

I didn't have a problem with McTernan stating his opinion and being so dismissive. However, when he said he thought "decolonising" education was a good idea and we need to "decolonise" the whole country, I realised what damage he could cause to British society if he had any political influence. When you listen to these political commentators who were once Labour advisors it makes you realise who Labour truly are behind the facade.
Truely scary stuff. What bubbles beneath the surface is treasonous.

Depends on the school. Both my children went to an outstanding, at the time, state school. My daughter went to a Russell Group university and my son to a great one too. Both got excellent degrees and now got great careers. Very proud of them. I know people that went to a local private school and got a few O level’s between them.
I agree but people need money for anything else.The quality of life depends on class & money.

I'm confused. VAT was introduced as a tax on luxury goods - white goods (Kitchen stuff), stereo's, TV's, cars etc. How is education considered a luxury?
Jim says…. As the parents of private school educated pupils still have to pay the full tax for a state service that they choose not to avail themselves of, why should they have to pay VAT in addition?

That's easy they will add it to their expenses if they can purchase kitchen furniture, laptops and earbuds claimed as an expense then why not VAT on school fees, there will be some workaround created for them there always is. But this is only the start of the stealth taxes, we have a lot of government debt to pay off for decades to come have we not learnt anything from the past 14 years what they say and do are two different things promises and pledges mean nothing as once in they cannot be removed for 5 years. Remember when things get rough they get going.
