A few years back, on a totally different subject, I had to teach university students... During a class, a student asked me what was my #1 recommendation when learning. I replied the following: "Understand things, don't just learn them by heart. This way, it will last for a lifetime, even if you forget a few details here and there". I find the way you teach guitar is very similar. Helping students understand where the chords and notes come from and even why they are used. I am very compatible with your teaching. Great class once again, cheers.
Hi Desi, are already knew this song but was never explained all the notes and direction of the song. This was one of Jim's easier and slower songs so it was easier to learn. Hendrix was the master, no doubt. Thanks, your the third Desi I know from the other two famous ones. Peace 🕊️
Yes - I echo many of the comments before mine: A great, clearly delivered demo - with the correct theory/knowledge and a perfect speed of delivery! Excellent - thank you! 🙂
Looks to me that not only do you instruct very clearly, you teach at a very good speed for anyone trying to learn this song. And as a good guitar instructor, your posture while holding the guitar shows new students that posture is very important when learning any instrument. Thanks for your time and your perfect teaching attitude.....
Thanks! Regarding posture, I try to keep my guitar horizontal for the video, but holding the guitar on your opposite leg and/or using a strap so the headstock is raised is often better positioning.
Great walkthrough. Enjoy your other work - fretboard theory books and podcast. You mention a Guitar Pro file but I didn't see it on the site. Didn't know if that is still available. Thanks again for a great lesson.
Memory muscle 101 i even do pressure point on my hands hurt at first takes time now a touch a press and it get all my fingers thumbs to work properly i found a youtube therepest my hand hurts playing guitar and directed my serch to the vedio i figured a million Chinese people cant be wrong that where this areginated even the pentatonic scales i might be wrong on the pentatonic...RocknRollFlat5

Jimi Hendrix had big ass hands made it alot eaiser lol then guys with small hands unfortunately I happen to be one of them guys with small hands lol but never the less a great lesson as always thanks appreciate it.
Desi Serna Guitar, no no I wasn't trying to say that it did I just meant that it makes doing some techniques harder than with people with big. But right there's always more than one way to do something.

That kinda the whole point of many of the lessons I post. I want guitarists to think and go beyond just memorizing things. Thanks for your comment. 👍
The great thing is that combined with the Fretboard Theory course, it all starts to make sense, which makes it easier to play.
Yes, these videos are great supplements to my Fretboard Theory books and video course. www.GuitarMusicTheory.com

Thanks! Sorry, I don't have the Guitar Pro file anymore.
Thank you for the most straight ahead simple, but still comprehensive "WCM". I picked it up so quick I felt like I was cheating!
Very nice! Man, Jimi was SOOO inventive....
I like that you throw in some chord theory in there. Not just finger-string-fret 101
Fantastic tutor, that was time well spent, thank you Desi
Glad it was helpful!
