Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and more importantly your methods. Lots of youtubers just post work but not techniques. Very straight forward use of tools and direct communication.
The green bit is probably a cratex abrasive impregnated silicon bit. I use them on any frame I do (personal or paid). Also great for polishing feed ramps.
Those thumb ledges are nice, ive always heard them called gas pedal cuts. Some of the best tools for frame work ive come across are just random pieces from different kits I've come across
You can get a kit of all sizes bits of those polishing rubber grit bits off amazon cheap. I used to buy them off mc master Carr and they were wayyyyyy more expensive. I use them for port and polish on engine heads

Why sand off the old stippling if it all melts and moves around when you do the new stippling? Seems like a step that could be eliminated, and also could weaken the gun frame
It looks like a mess if you don’t sand off the original texture and anywhere else that will be stippled. It don’t doesn’t weaken anything as very little is being sanded away
What burning tool do you recommend? Do you like ones with temperature controls? Total newbie here trying to learn from the master. Thanks you for sharing your knowledge!
I recommend the cheap Walmart wood burners without temperature controls. They’re like $12 and you’ll be able to do dozens of frames before it dies. I think the brand is Walnut Hollow or something like that.
@@tristarcustoms77 I have been looking at OTdefense. Seems cool that they offer such an amazing variety of tips but I just can’t spend that much on a kit. Thank you, I’ll go pick one up this afternoon!
how much material do you think you remove by sanding to prep for stippling. a glock 19 or 17 used to fit my right hand perfect 15 years ago, lately ive been feeling like i cant quite get my hands around as good or tight as i used to, my offhand still feels perfect and tight grip, but my hands have taken a beating over the last 20 years wrenching and feel like i cant hold tight enough onto my 19 as i once did, and have yet to try one of the slim frames yet. curious if sanding enough material down without weakening it and stippling will help me with this new found problem.
You really just remove enough material to get rid of the factory texture. If you remove too much and then stipple it you’ll end up melting holes in the frame and it can make it more prone for warping. However I do a grip reduction modification that reshapes that Glock hump on the back strap area and that helps a lot along with removing the finger grooves.
Man, I wanna do my gen3 22 so bad & I'm considering cutting the grip down to 23 length but every time I approach it, my sphincter puckers & I freeze up w tool in hand... I hear it's a common occurrence for most married men. 😅
I want to say these videos are awesome. I have state board five different Glocks. And I learned a lot. But I’ve learned more from watching your videos than I have from any others. I would be interested in getting you to do one of mine. Do you have a website.
Hey man I really appreciate the comment! I don’t not have an actual website but I can be found on Instagram and Facebook at Tristar Customs. Or you can contact me at (606) 499-771one I also can be reached by email at Tristarcustoms.tn@gmail.com
Depends on what firearm you do it for. Sig sauer, where the fire control unit is removable and the frame is not serialized, does not require an FFL. For glocks, the frame is also serialized, so it technically would require an FFL.
You do great work! I love watching you guys do stippling jobs but all of you guys do the same thing. You move the guns around too fast when you're showing the stippling! The camera just starts to focus in and you move the gun around. You can never get a good look at the stippling because it never focuses in. Put the guns up close to the camera let it focus in and then "SLOWLY" turn in so we can see it!!! 😉
What?!?!? OK I muted. Seriously, nice job. I myself prefer to cover up most logos. They sure as Hell aren't paying me to advertise them. Great job though.
Mike Bob the air tool I use is a harbor freight brand micro air die grinder. The sanding drums are bought in a bulk pack from Amazon but can be bought in a kit from almost any craft store and usually even Walmart.
Safety first please make sure you wear a mask because overtime tgat build up of plastics getting in your lungs is not a good idea. I am a 10 year bone and ivory carver and also stipple my iwn grips and although it may not effect you now it sure will later. Maybe consider integrated voice overs with demonstration? Otherwise great job
I generally use a non adjustable temp iron, but in my experience it’s the same temp as the adjustable temp irons on high. I have no idea what the actual temperature of the tip though
Thanks for the info man. I’m a cop, and we love our stippling. And I’ve been working on trying to do it on my own. Your info is definitely helpful
Glad to help out!
Great video, if only I could see what you are doing.
OR hear what you are doing...

Look up Craytex. That's what the green polishing attachment is.
You should invest in a JOBY flexible tripod, they're not much and you'd be able to get some better angles.
Really nice info and what I like is that you share your knowledge. May god bless you
Thanks man! God bless you too brother!
The mag release is perfect over the small button it has.
Its always good when you here "I can fix that later" lol That made me laugh. Thanks for the video

What tip did you use for the sides?
I’m trying to do mine now lol
Beautiful work my man!!
Well it was nice of you to try and show us xD
Don't you proof watch before sending? Great work but can't see nothing
What dremel tool u use? Ur work is fire 🔥 🔥🔥
It’s a micro air grinder. They’re made by several different companies.
What did you use for the border?
Can you please do a video on the process of the flame bath?

Would you recommend a basket weave stipple for an EDC?
Yes I would
What size Flexcut carving tool do you use? Is it the MT12 Micro Chisel?
It’s 1.5mm U-gouge
Incredible work!
What is the potency of the soldering iron that you are using? 20 Watts?
This wood burner is 20 or 25Watt I think
They look good. Any way to preserve (or return) the original grain of the polymer? (The factory grain/texture).
Not that I know of.

I’ve done a couple grip chops. It’s not too bad. It’s nice have a factory version of the smaller size with you when you do it though

My question is do i have to sand the factory texture my glock has or can i just stipple over the existing texture
You definitely can stipple over factory texture but it will look like 💩. Way better off to sand it down
@@tristarcustoms77 haha 😂 thanks for letting me know before hand.

It’s a Walnut Hollow wood burning tool.
Do I have to have an FFL in order to stipple?
Yes you do unless it’s your own firearm.
Do you need an ffl to do this? If not, I may start this as a side business.

@15:30 you said “ive got the “flame bath” on it”. Could you elaborate what the “flame bath” is?
Great work!
Tactical Ant it’s where I take a small
Butane torch and go over the stippled parts lightly to remove any of the little “hairs” and gloss the texture
