Well, true story...as a very casual karaoke-style singer myself, I always thought this song was more fun as a bluesy slow ballad with a lot of fun pauses and extra emphases on various words and phrases. Then I discovered that Elton himself had the same idea (decades before), and I was totally humbled to find this incredible live performance. Such a priceless vid. Don't let the sun ever go down on YOU. Elton, we loved you then and we love you now. Thank you!!!!!!!
It's actually a sad song when you think about it, it's about a guy reminiscing about going through the downside of a relationship and after it ended, music, rock n roll, was his only companion. This version is a bit of a satire, but still awesome
This version is great! Elton is always full of surprises. I love it when he sings ballads and this song is done very good as a ballad. I really like it!
Elton's still GOT it and knows how to use it:-)I remember the first song i hard of him on the radio......"Levon"I think i was 10 or 11 years old and from then on i always waited for something new!!!He is the best piano player and singer of our time........Jam ON Elton!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"I'm gonna do a song right now that, uhm, I haven't played for a long time. In fact, I vowed that I would never play it again, and then Sting and I did an aids benefit in Milan a couple of years ago, and he said 'I wanna do this song of yours', and I said 'no way, and then he said 'well I wanna do it as a ballad', so I'm gonna do it as a ballad now." Thanks for the upload.
@ROBLOXIANgordonrox24 He just stopped for a while. As of now, and for the last 15 years it has still been an integral part of his concert setlist. When he plays with Billy Joel, it's even the finale of his solo set.
@@Bruh1986. because he says, sting wanted to do it, so he started doing it as a ballad from 93-94, saw how much people loved it and put it back in the set
I was at this concert... My first Elton concert. I will NEVER forget it!!

I love how most of his live performances are accompanied by piano only! Now THAT is a great singer who relies on his voice and talent!!

Ouaww !
No problem, glad to have helped! :-)
Different but still good!
Does anyone have "The One" from this show. It's the only one I can not find.
Well not Dianas but he still does Marilyns
Why did he stop playing it?
cuz he couldn't hit the high notes anymore .
@@Bruh1986. nah, he just really hated the song
@@blueflame1856 then why did he start doing it again , in 1984 Elton could care less if he liked a song he was too coked up anyway 😂
@@Bruh1986. because he says, sting wanted to do it, so he started doing it as a ballad from 93-94, saw how much people loved it and put it back in the set
*probably my least favorite EJ song
