During the first "Why did I just blink like that?" moment, there was a split-second appearance of a shadow person on the right side of the gate. I personally think the map creator should have made the shadow people last a little longer than they did. I don't know what happened during the second blink after turning the power back on. Also, the partially-decoded Morse code doesn't say UNDL, it's UNDE with the person apparently having been pulled away while writing the middle part of the E. The last character is an R. I only know this due to the power of the Internet, and I'm not sure many people know Morse code by heart any more.. At 21:01 when he said, "There's a note on the desk right there," it looks like there's something standing in the window of a nearby building to accompany the creepy sound. After reading the note, and just before there's a cut while he leaves the building, the same window seems to be empty. Maaaaan, now I gotta stop watching 'cus I want to play this for myself. This map is fantastic.
my favorite thing about these gmod map playthroughs is how you talk and act almost exactly like how a horror game protagonist is written, the alan wake player model really helps
I'm so glad I kept watching. The jpg jump scare nearly made me click away but I decided to keep watching, and oh my god that had to be an attempt at lowering your guard so that it could really get you with all the other, far greater scares. This was just amazing!
I'm so glad i found this channel. Admittedly, it was through the from the fog series, however my attention was truly captured by the gmod maps and the commentary that comes with it. I've always loved horror, but am a total scaredy-cat, like, badly - I'm still frightened of the dark lol. It's for this reason that I enjoy this content so much. A thoughtful, interesting breakdown of whats happening, the scares as practical effects, the art of subtlety, and so on. It makes the creepiness so much less unnerving, so much more palatable for my mind (which likes to borrow from media I consume to scare me). I'm on school holidays right now, and probably would be tearing my hair out over my final exams in October. But I find that instead, my every morning is punctuated with a Librarian video, and my every night, the same. Someone said that these videos make them sleepy, which I can attest to. I hate falling asleep with something I wanna watch in the background - not even ASMR for some bizarre reason. But the speech pattern, the cadence, even the content, just has a way of lulling me into calm (rather than focussing on some weird shadow demon lurking in the corner). Its the same reason why I'm not so stressed about school right now. So thank you, Librarian, you are greatly appreciated by many. Sorry for the yapping, I just have a lot of thoughts I suppose. If you read this far, thank you for indulging my rambling, and I hope you have a wonderful life.
As a dude working nights, I look forward toto every single upload. Your videos help me sleep like no other, then I go and watch them again to see what I heard. It's not even been a year since I've discovered you but I've watched almost every single one at least twice. Thank you
Going through some dark moments of my life at the moment, however you're videos calm me and brighten my mood considerably. Thank you so much for posting these videos!
25:58 Oh my god... Ohhh myyy gooodd... I jumped *way* too hard... I love this map so much, its terrifying, it has a story, and it leads you through a storyline while simultaneously letting you do whatever! Man this is a really good one!
I was the one who suggested this map and I feel like that guy from Pokemon X right now from how much I had to bump this post to get you to play it. And I am so happy I did. So to quote AZ, "It's been three thousand years..." Edit: Was kinda disappointed that you didn't complete the Gnome easter egg, but it is kinda obscure. You were halfway there already: You throw the gnome into the lake, then in the last part of the town you have to wait at the Bus Stop without leaving (You'll know you're doing it right if you hear coughing). Around 15 seconds later, a bus appears and takes you to... well... I'd rather not spoil it. It's quite an interesting take on a Dev Room :P
I thought this was an argentinian map since I saw the Rivadavia paper note on the beggining lol. The "white-collar criminal" is an ex-president called Mauricio Macri, who is actually from my hometown Tandil
Personally I think he was more scared during his video on gm_shambles but it’s haunted. I believe it was when he saw his first ghost he actually screamed
Ur vids are rly comforting, I first found ur channel when u played from the fog 31:38 is a jumpscare that got me of guard and I actually jumped a bit (most horror can get outta me is a jump no screams tho)
Playing GMOD and exploring creepy multiplayer maps is kinda scary and makes me uncomfortable. But watching you play GMOD helps me relax and forgets about the stress in real life.
I love how comfortable and relaxing every one of your videos feel, and how you seem to enjoy exploring these creepy environments with us. Thanks for sharing all of these experiences with us over the years, and for being a wonderful creator. Also, a question: I know you’ve probably already been asked this; but I’d like to know what audio software and microphone you use for these videos? Thanks in advance.
Hey there! I use a Zoom H6 (previously H4n) field recorder with Audacity to bring up the bass. I record the audio separately because it sounds weird/crackly on OBS for some reason, though I do still record a voice track on OBS for syncing purposes.
Finally getting around to watching this video, and I love it. I don't know what it is about this map, but it evokes that same vibe/feeling that gm_Russia evoked for me that made me fall in love with these explores in the first place! Very nostalgic :).
I really didn't know what to expect with this game as I'd never heard of it but I gotta say I really enjoyed this, its a very good watch, thanks for uploading it Mr Librarian. 😀
26:00 You shot a child!!! Nah, im playing, but i love these hour long videos. It's helping me get my attention span back up, especially from watching tiktok lmao. You're doing very good, keep it up!
7:34 LMAOOO I will give you some context behind that poster: His name is Mauricio Macri and is an Argentinian ex-president, he was usually called a cat by his opposition: calling him "Macri Gato". So due to his corruption accusations instead of being a white gloved thief he is a white-collar criminal. Pretty random lol, but their creators seem to be argentinian sooo yeah
I've been at schools late at night time when I was in drama club and we stayed late rehearsing. Some times me and a couole others would wander off when into the school. It felt similar to these type of games. Long empty hallways and even the tiniest sound will echo.
when you "blinked" in the alley @ 6:37 there was a shadow figure there just half behind the right wall and hes there for like 1/4 of a picosecond. i had to watch it on the highest settings available at 0.25 to see it.
You missed a LOT of things, every time you blinked there was a shadowy figure for a split second... and at 21:00 there was a figure in the window. 28:54, that door WAS NOT CLOSED, there was another figure standing in the door and it closed it.
this like a resident evil game but better my question is how did a dictatorship form in a presumably US town maybe after the creature broke out the military shut it down
The only thing I’m wondering is the same thing you did near the end. Why was it stalking you? Why not just outright kill you or drag you into the woods like it does if you try to leave? Clearly weapons don’t work on it so it’s not waiting for an opportunity and no notes suggest it toys with its prey, it just takes/kills people as and when.
watching the librarian makes me so sleepy no matter the situation so i kinda have to try to stay awake to watch it
fr his commentary is like a lullaby
i felt sleepy as hell cuz the pacing of the map was so damn boring tbh
but the librarian does also have a very calming demeanor
Ngl i put map explorations when i go to sleep then i rewatch the video 😅
You're so real for that
just hold up your phone with oddly satisfying videos playing on it
i love how he SHOT the ghost child😭
Safety glock has no safety features for children
HE WAS A GHOST? 👀
i forgot to add the

Child got domed 😭
He was locked in for that, pinpoint accuracy and instant reaction speed 😭
26:03 The Librarian: "AH A CHILD!!"
"There's only one thing scarier than a ghost"
"A CHILD"
"No-"
Reminds me of when WoolieVs encountered a ghost child in Silent Hill 1 and immediately fired his shotgun, lol

10:31 That Morse code spells "U N D E R".
"Severed Limbs in the Hall" is my band name now.
Heheheh. The "White Collar Criminal" is the former president of Argentina 2015-2019. That was a funny reference.
I love seeing how creative people can be with GMOD. Watching these while I'm bored at work makes the nights go by much faster.
no way the librarian found president macri (7:31)
Te juro !!! 💀

Agreed. The buildup to the JPEG was supremely done, honestly of great example how you can do JPEG scares without it seeming cheap.
@tazamane9705 This is probably part of the few times where I've actually jumped to a JPEG of all things, I agree, the atmosphere was wild.
Librarian took "you made your last delivery kid" to literally when he saw that child
Every time I see a jpeg jumpscare now, I just hear in my head:
"Ataaackk of the jpeg jumpscare"
To the tune of "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" theme.
Someone needs to make a liminal library map for The Librarian
Best idea ever
It is in his name "Librarian" so of course he needs a library

"I don't regret A SECOND OF IT" - Sisyphus Prime
Might want to not recommend antisemitic content next time.

doesnt get more classic than a good old gmod horror map
This reminds me a bit of A Better Tomorrow from Thief 2 - same kind of otherworldly horror seemingly impervious to normal means.
