So you finally played The Lost One. A story that is connected to Fennek Corporation, connected to other maps such as "Below the Wind" and the "Icarus Project". Both action horror maps made by the same creator. To know the full story, you must play all of them.
I'd advise he doesn't. I just played Below The Wind and got needlessly lost trying to find keycards. I've also played the Icarus Project and those maps are just pure, unfun, enemy spam. The horror isn't bad in all of them but the actual gameplay is not great in the slightest. Hell, even the sequel to this map ends with enemy spam while trying to open up and destroy stuff. The Librarian isn't missing out on anything worthwhile.
@@vixplox Just seen the comment just today. And thinking of it, I was very stressed on my work back then, so much I had to resign. In short, it was stress induced insomnia.
Just so you know this story along with Below the Wind and Icarus Project apparently all take place in the Half Life universe an is meant to be set a few months after the Black Mesa incident. Either the mapmaker doesn't know his Half Life lore or in this timeline we got paranormal shit instead of alien shit an the world didn't end.
The bunker itself reminds me of amnesia: the dark descent, the cellar area basement, the wooden rooms, the creepy atmosphere, I half expected a creature to be roaming past the view of the locked cellar-like door.
''I'm using VR for immersivness''. Totally misses the new keycard being dished in front of you after collecting the other four. Smooth Librarian, smooth. But we go along cause you have a soothing voice. You goofy man.
I know I'm kinda late for this one but I really enjoyed this video. I watched it before bed and that was really comfy. The night was cold, calm and I was under my blankets getting all cozy. I don't know why but your videos are the best for watching before going to bed. They are relaxing, even if they are a horror video. Your channel is a literal god send.
Honestly, the creator's later maps aren't much better in the terms of gameplay. Below the Wind is backtrack heavy and confusing as a result. Meanwhile the Icarus Project is more linear but features a lot of enemy spam for its battles.
I'm guessing Fennec operates as a sort of large holding corporation, with smaller subsidiaries in more profitable businesses being the money-makers. They state that they research biological weapons, it's safe to assume they likely do the same for other kinds of weapons (possibly even manufacturing weapons themselves too) as a profitable business. They likely also do other kinds of manufacturing, probably precision machining too. Chemical research and chemical engineering also don't sound far-fetched. Oh, and maybe even for-profit prisons? If they have less-than-voluntary volunteers, they've got to be coming from _somewhere_ .
I would love to watch you play Painscreek Killings if you havent already, its a pretty spooky atmosperic detective/exploration game where you try to uncover the truth about a murder that happened many years ago.
I've been wondering. Have you heard of The Interloper ARG? And if you haven't seen anything about it, maybe you could make a video covering it or watching through the series? I feel like it would be right up your alley, going in on Source Engine weirdness and taking it in a whole new direction, though not as Liminal as most of the stuff you cover.
Safety glock is classic but would love to see other VR pistols and survival horror weapons being used. For example a USP? a M9? Maybe even a SIG or a deagle? I also seen a MAC-10 which funny enough is cannon to Resident Evil. Mp5 such as a VR CSS one is technically canon too as Resident Evil and other survival horror games have had certain smgs. From a horror aspect the MAC-10 being inaccurate and heavy in recoil in theory and more likely to jam or malfunction then a MP5 and less practical overall so in a survival horror situation it's a hap hazard weapon to use. Would love to see VR pump action or semi auto shotgun as well.
Thinking about getting a vr just to experience things like this to be honest, just wondering if it actually feels immersive to the point where you feel like you're physically there, or does it just feel like youre in your room with a vr on your head.
It's pretty immersive to the point where it does feel like you're being "pulled out" when taking the headset off. My memories of these maps are of being there. The biggest limiter to immersion is space IMO. I'm in a small room, so I don't have a lot of room to move and I'm always bumping things.
VR works by showing two slightly different images to each eye. This means you have "real" depth perception in VR. So when you're in VR, you definitely perceive yourself to really be in that space. You have depth perception in VR and so you instantly have a real sense of space, distance, scale, etc. As for how strong that immersion is, it can depend on the game. Games that look really bad don't engross you as much. Something like Half-Life Alyx is so realistic that you feel like you're in a real place, to the point that in some areas (like the fungus-covered hotel) I was smelling phantom smells. Old 2005-looking games, like Half-Life 2/Garry's Mod, their surfaces are typically flat and so while you feel like you're there, you're also aware of the flatness of the walls and such. If you think about it, you can start to feel like you're in a world where everything is painted on sheets of cardboard. I recommend an Index for a few reasons, one of which is the big FOV. Less of a "wearing goggles" effect. And with the controllers, you can fully open your hands, so you don't feel like you're gripping controllers the whole time.
depends. A good quality headset that fits right, it can be pretty immersive I have a Quest 2 which is alright, but the quality isn't the best and I need to wear my glasses which makes wearing it awkward. Those 2 things I think hurt the immersion, but I know someone with an index and no need for glasses who claims it feels like you're there
Please try out a game called “Endless Surburbia” it’s on Steam but sadly it’s not free I was hoping it was. If you don’t want to play it that’s fine. ❤
You should check out hell let loose or squad you'd probably have fun it's they are both pretty phycology heavy especially hell let loose it's a pvp first person shooter
I just tried to play this map. I want to point out the game has dialogue at the bottom of the screen you probably can't read in VR. You shouldn't have spawned a gun, the game tells you it's broken and useless.
I don't if it exist but if it out there but you should do a map that envolves with the left 4 dead game both first and second games that would be interesting to watch one of these days
Theres something relaxing about the intro "Hello everyoneeee.. and Welcome back.. toooo Garrys Mod"
Yeah that’s gonna be really nostalgic one day I already know it

I love when I hear "hello everyone!" It means that a new horror adventure is coming.
As a Wisconsinite I can confirm this is an accurate depiction of our daily activities.

I'm so happy your channel was recommended to me. I needed these videos. Thank you, Librarian.
As always, for myself, The Librarian is the best way to experience a GMOD horror map, or any for that matter...well done sir!!
