As far as Vegapunk goes, I always goes to back to Franky when I look at whether Vegapunk is good or evil. As Tom taught Franky, a creator should never hate his creations, and whether your creations are used for good or evil you must love them regardless. I honestly do believe this theme will be relevant going forward with the Seraphim as well as the Mother Flame.

Imu said Lulu's was chosen based on its proximity. I believe this was because it was the closest of the 3 islands notably in an uprising and it was the most likely of places Sabo was likely to go. Law learned it from Corazon and he more then likely learned it from Doffy or from his time as a celestial dragon. What if Imu put out false information so others wouldn't seek imortality. I think that Imu's ability will involve turning themself into either an animal or creature. I also think that the awakening on the fruit allows them to turn others into animals/creatures (it could reveal the person nature in the form of an animal). This would mean the elder stars would have fruits and would probably just be haki gods. This could then be linked to the whole Nefertari D Lili is zunesha theory. May be a bit of a stretch but whoever zunesha is probably had the immortality surgery and therefore couldn't be killed so had to be "punished" by being forced to walk the world, even more of a stretch the big strawhat could of been zunesha when they were human as based on its size it was probably a giant.
With Vegapunk even if he is netting negative now, it's hard to say whether he will be a net positive or net negative in the future, for instance there are a lot of inventions in the real world that were invented by militaries with the intention to be used for military purposes, but those same technologies years later have pervaded the entire world in unexpected ways. A lot of Vegapunks 'good' inventions that are currently trapped on Egghead, might later be used throughout the entire world after the fall of the Celestial Dragons. I think we can actually look back on what Tom told Frankie about his inventions and about what matters is the way things are used. Put into the right hands Vegapunks inventions can make the world an amazingly better place. Even Madds cloning technology would be amazing for the medical field

Ah but why is he going after the One Piece now? I think Shanks was forced to be a God's Knight. Roger told him that Garling would eventually track him down and forcibly recruit him. Now I'm sure its hard to see Shanks being manipulated by Celestials, but we already have a parallel for this in the story. In the same way Judge was able to control Sanji with his powerful organization, so too does Garling control Shanks with his. Sanji is strong, but there were still things in this world he can't protect. And I think the same goes for Shanks. Shanks doesn't feel he can't be Pirate King because he's a celestial. Shanks doesn't think bloodlines are important. Shanks didn’t want to claim the One Piece because he was under the thumb of the Celestials. He isn't free. The title of Pirate King would be hollow if he claimed it as a subordinate of God's Knights. Take a look at the chapter where Shanks says its time to go after the One Piece. It's the same chapter where the newspaper announcing the events of the Reverie was shown. And Shanks is holding that very same newspaper earlier in the chapter. I think he plans to betray God's Knights and side with the Revolution, and when the deed is done, and the dawn has come, he wants to have the poneglyphs in hand so he can immediately go claim the One Piece as a truly free man.

And as a kid he had the strongest pirate crew and the pirate king protecting him. I think he might “understand” what the celestials are and respects his family and their strength but that mans free. Luffys idol being manipulated and controlled would ruin the story for me as one of luffys main goals is the most freedom possible. Shanks is his own dude and I believe he’s stronger than the gods knights. Similar to how oden got stronger after he left Wano, the way to get stronger is to fight people around the world and shanks has clashed and fought with the top tiers of the show.

Sanji is way stronger than Judge, but Judge has a huge organization which can threaten people half way around the world. If Judge's organization can do that, imagine what the God's Knights and the WG are capable of. Did WCI ruin Sanji's character? No, it made it better. It gave his character context. Right now Shanks doesn't have much of a character at all, and I think this revelation would humanize him.

Implying he's genuinely going after it. Which I much prefer as it shows Shanks still has his own dreams, and he's not just a bench warmer for Luffy.
I think Sabo surpassed Ace in terms of the flame flame fruit user but not as character. I don’t feel anything for Sabo YET. Probably because of his limited itneractions with Luffy and the crew but I want to see more of them together

I think ace's reaction "a name is just a name who cares" had to do with his consistency as a character... He hated his father and his father's legacy. For Vegapunk. I think his Visual inspiration says it all. Specially given the Nationality of the Creator. Vegapunk is modeled off Einstein. Duh. But What most do not realize is while Einstein Gave us knowledge and physics that have allowed some of the greatest scientific breakthroughs of man kind. The gorosei are realllly interesting. They seem to me like extremely wise men, who without imu would be doing a splendid job at ruling the world. By that logic is luffy’s entire crew and grand fleet “D” as well? I don’t think so. You can be a D too uss D sopp “.. but that wouldn’t make usopp a D, because lineage does matter.
@@deniyii think you’re missing it a bit. You just showed that lineage doesn’t matter. There are some Ds who don’t carry the trait of what the prophesied Ds do. The entire point is. Sabo and his checkered fate is reminiscent of the storm the Ds normally bring. But he isn’t a D, but he in a way represents them. Law is a D. No conquerors, no VOAT, always runs away. You aren’t just defined by that initial. Luffy’s grand fleet is a poor example because no one said Sabo is a D, he was just adopted by it. In a way the Grand Fleet is carrying out the Will of a D due to Luffy.

I think a lot of this disconnect comes from a lack of clarity as to the purpose of the “D”s (I guess imu was right). Who were the “D”s to the world during the void century? We’ve seen different tribes that also oppose the celestials (wano, and the minks for example). They are old tribes as well that existed during the void century as allies to the “D” clan. They aren’t “D”s but they exhibit a lot of the same traits (Oden and his scabbards, ryumma, etc). I tend to think of the “D”s more as a tribe/bloodline out of which some extremely special people are born. Not all of them have great destines, but they are all capable of it. Whereas you think of it as a “label” given to people who live like “D”s. No idea which outlook is right tbh, they both make a lot of sense. I guess I just want the “D” name to feel a bit more weighty/special, afterall we’ve been hyped about the identity of the “D” clan for a looong time

But what is St. Saturn (or some other, more cooperative scientist) who took the Mother Flame, which could have been the source of his climate control device, and expanded on it to focus the energy into a weaponized beam? With Vegapunk even if he is netting negative now, it's hard to say whether he will be a net positive or net negative in the future, for instance there are a lot of inventions in the real world that were invented by militaries with the intention to be used for military purposes, but those same technologies years later have pervaded the entire world in unexpected ways. A lot of Vegapunks 'good' inventions that are currently trapped on Egghead, might later be used throughout the entire world after the fall of the Celestial Dragons. I think we can actually look back on what Tom told Frankie about his inventions and about what matters is the way things are used. Put into the right hands Vegapunks inventions can make the world an amazingly better place. Even Madds cloning technology would be amazing for the medical field

Maybe Shanks didn't follow in Roger's footsteps because he knew as a (former) Celestial Dragon that taking the throne wouldn't be right. which is why he was searching for Roger's successor in the first place!
Ah but why is he going after the One Piece now? I think Shanks was forced to be a God's Knight. Roger told him that Garling would eventually track him down and forcibly recruit him.
Now I'm sure its hard to see Shanks being manipulated by Celestials, but we already have a parallel for this in the story. In the same way Judge was able to control Sanji with his powerful organization, so too does Garling control Shanks with his. Sanji is strong, but there were still things in this world he can't protect. And I think the same goes for Shanks. Shanks doesn't feel he can't be Pirate King because he's a celestial. Shanks doesn't think bloodlines are important. Shanks didn’t want to claim the One Piece because he was under the thumb of the Celestials. He isn't free. The title of Pirate King would be hollow if he claimed it as a subordinate of God's Knights.
Take a look at the chapter where Shanks says its time to go after the One Piece. It's the same chapter where the newspaper announcing the events of the Reverie was shown. And Shanks is holding that very same newspaper earlier in the chapter. I think he plans to betray God's Knights and side with the Revolution, and when the deed is done, and the dawn has come, he wants to have the poneglyphs in hand so he can immediately go claim the One Piece as a truly free man.

And as a kid he had the strongest pirate crew and the pirate king protecting him. I think he might “understand” what the celestials are and respects his family and their strength but that mans free. Luffys idol being manipulated and controlled would ruin the story for me as one of luffys main goals is the most freedom possible. Shanks is his own dude and I believe he’s stronger than the gods knights. Similar to how oden got stronger after he left Wano, the way to get stronger is to fight people around the world and shanks has clashed and fought with the top tiers of the show.

Sanji is way stronger than Judge, but Judge has a huge organization which can threaten people half way around the world. If Judge's organization can do that, imagine what the God's Knights and the WG are capable of. Did WCI ruin Sanji's character? No, it made it better. It gave his character context. Right now Shanks doesn't have much of a character at all, and I think this revelation would humanize him.

Remember, the One Piece was his dream, and he told Buggy he was putting his dream on hold for a while after Roger told him something that made him cry. So all the way back then, he was planning for this moment. In the Japanese translation he doesn't say he'll claim the One Piece. It says something more akin to let's win the One Piece. Implying he's genuinely going after it. Which I much prefer as it shows Shanks still has his own dreams, and he's not just a bench warmer for Luffy.

For Vegapunk. I think his Visual inspiration says it all. Specially given the Nationality of the Creator. Vegapunk is modeled off Einstein. Duh. But What most do not realize is while Einstein Gave us knowledge and physics that have allowed some of the greatest scientific breakthroughs of man kind. The gorosei are realllly interesting. They seem to me like extremely wise men, who without imu would be doing a splendid job at ruling the world. I suspect they eventually bend the knee to luffy or some other king from the good side after imu gets defeated (maybe even before then). Are they even celestial dragons? Makes me really curious for luffy and Saturn’s meeting, I think the conversation they have will answer some of these doubts.
Also i disagree with brago about the “D” being separate from your lineage. I think the world of one piece is too mythical (with some people able to hear the voice of all things, and some people being conquerors) for something as secretive and feared as the “D” clan to be “just any good guy who’s undergone hardships”. By that logic is luffy’s entire crew and grand fleet “D” as well? I don’t think so. Also remember that Imu said that the current “D”s don’t understand the true meaning of their names, I think that makes it even more meaningful.
But yeah this is most definitely imo the chapter of the year.. until oda goes crazy again 😅

@@bdalaw no I don’t, but I think the significance of the flashback to his childhood with luffy and ace is that the “D”s are different from the celestial dragons in that they don’t stand over others because of their lineage or royalty. They don’t care about their name, even though they are definitely special because of it. I imagine usopp asking luffy why he has a “D” in his name, and luffy just going “who cares! You can be a D too uss D sopp “.. but that wouldn’t make usopp a D, because lineage does matter.
@@deniyii think you’re missing it a bit. You just showed that lineage doesn’t matter. There are some Ds who don’t carry the trait of what the prophesied Ds do. The entire point is. Sabo and his checkered fate is reminiscent of the storm the Ds normally bring. But he isn’t a D, but he in a way represents them. Law is a D. No conquerors, no VOAT, always runs away. You aren’t just defined by that initial. Luffy’s grand fleet is a poor example because no one said Sabo is a D, he was just adopted by it. In a way the Grand Fleet is carrying out the Will of a D due to Luffy.
@@BragoDAce I definitely agree with your phrasing about sabo “carrying out the will of a D”. I think it’s a good mental model for reasoning about people who aren’t “D”s but exhibit the traits of one. I think a lot of this disconnect comes from a lack of clarity as to the purpose of the “D”s (I guess imu was right). Who were the “D”s to the world during the void century? We’ve seen different tribes that also oppose the celestials (wano, and the minks for example). They are old tribes as well that existed during the void century as allies to the “D” clan. They aren’t “D”s but they exhibit a lot of the same traits (Oden and his scabbards, ryumma, etc). I tend to think of the “D”s more as a tribe/bloodline out of which some extremely special people are born. Not all of them have great destines, but they are all capable of it.
Whereas you think of it as a “label” given to people who live like “D”s.
No idea which outlook is right tbh, they both make a lot of sense. I guess I just want the “D” name to feel a bit more weighty/special, afterall we’ve been hyped about the identity of the “D” clan for a looong time

And, if I remember correctly, it's already been established that scientists have tried to copy his inventions. But what is St. Saturn (or some other, more cooperative scientist) who took the Mother Flame, which could have been the source of his climate control device, and expanded on it to focus the energy into a weaponized beam?
Long story short, we only got confirmation the Vega Punk made the Mother Flame, not the weapon.
