Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is a role-playing video game developed by AlphaDream and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance in 2003.
The game follows Mario and Luigi and Bowser as they travel through Beanbean Kingdom in order to restore Princess Peach's voice from the clutches of Cackletta.

I'm just 30 minutes in but I just wanted to say big thanks for this glitchless run.

For reference I am referring to his 2:59 glitchless TAS that was done on USA version and didn't have some of the timesaves, for example the one in Joke's End (if you've watched you know), making it more normal than this TAS
Finally, a TAS that doesn't kill Luigi over and over!
It's funny because the original (not public) Glitchless TAS, the 2:59, killed Luigi a lot. But after some investigation it turned out to be about 15 seconds slower, all the levels skipped simply aren't worth killing Luigi. So it almost became the one TAS with the most Luigi-killing, but it ended up being slower
Note: The reason why the encode has Spanish text is because the European version using Spanish text is the fastest version of the game. It is not just for show.

Such a shame that the Spanish localization is as uncreative as possible. Cackletta and Fawful really do be the Heehee Witch and Heehee Minion.
It's not a grammatically broken localization or anything is just unfathomably boring for being in such a whimsical game
@@nicocchiI just think they didn't want to mess too much with the weird names cause Cackletta and Fawful are very strange-sounding names for a Spanish speaker. But some places should have definitely retained some sort of pun. Instead Academia Jajá, could be something like Jajacademia (like Hoohooniversity).
A game that did this splendidly was Donkey Kong Country Returns where most levels remain alliterations or puns in Spanish. Very interesting translation.
Well, that's one video game where PAL is faster!
Finally! I enjoy all MLSS TASes but it's good to see a run that doesn't do the glitchy barrel bullshit for once
The glitchy mess that happens on screen is painfully unwatchable
This is the alternate universe where most characters are generally as silent as the Protagonists.

Many textboxes in Spanish take 1 frame less to clear over US, and since there are thousands of them in this run it adds up to almost 30 seconds of timesave just from textboxes alone.

@@NesuProps Only slightly faster than japanese text but japanese loses a minute and a half in the first 45 minutes over European version (it's explained in the submission notes why exactly)
Regardless of the Reason why is in Spanish here, I'd like to Point out that Whoever named Cackletta for the Latin Spanish Localization was a Total Bean-Brain.

curious question: why go for the stache points later on? especially the lower numbers
Stache lowers the buy price of items and raises the selling price.
After Trunkle, my main source of damage are the Mush Badges, which require a lot of mushrooms to do a lot of damage.

@@sweetypussI think exploits don't really count as a glitch, cause you are not altering anything in the way the game behaves

This is not a glitch because they didn't patch it entirely in the Japanese version either, which came after the PAL version. All they did was to nerf its damage but even in that version it's still by far the best badge in the game. If it were a glitch, then it wouldn't have worked in the JP version at all.

2:57:31 wow. Breaking the forth wall. Literally. Similar forth wall break happens after the final boss of trip’s story gets defeated in sonic superstars and when trip gets hit by the instant death ball in the second phase.

The European version is the quickest. Of the languages it has, Spanish is the fastest
2:53:42 oh you know what? Prince peasley actually sucks. Not only has he not done any of the work with some battles, but he also gets himself hurt in the process of helping Mario and Luigi. I hate this guy.
Prince Peasley stabbed Fawful with zero remorse, that has to account for something.
And unlike a certain star ball, Peasley doesn’t try berating Luigi and actually tries catching him after getting the beanstar.
Not to mention the fact that he at least TRIES helping at all!
