The timeless Phyllis Diller....she was great n always will...n not forgettable like a lot of today so-called comedians..... Reincarnate soon please...we need you!!
She has had surgery back in the day like when plastic surgery was considered new, before she was super famous she has everythinggggg done, her nose, multiple facelifts, this comes from her mouth, or google before and afters.
Despite all her jokes about her looks, she was actually quite good-looking. I can only assume that with her wigs and eyebrows and exotic outfits that she was doing a kind of drag
Years ago, as we were watching Phyllis Diller, (the greatest comedienne I've ever seen) my mother remarked, "It must take a whole lot of courage to come out looking like that."
Between her laugh her hair you cannot help but laugh way down inside . The lines just roll from her. Her delivery is so fluid. And always with the cigarette holder!
I grew up watching her. She was a killer! In top form here. Some of her best work was on the Bob Hope tours in Vietnam. My favorite story about her, was told on (probably) Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. She said she could go anywhere incognito when she dressed in her camoflauge. Which was a Nun's habit. Sad to see her pass, but she lives on here on the 'tube!!
there will never be another phyllis the modern day comediens arent funny all they do is swear phyllis was in a league of here own good bless you its raining here in the uk the angels must be laughing
Excellent delivery and material, and I think it is hard to appreciate how disruptive a force she was at the time. Her various "looks" were way out for their time but the world has sort of caught up since and a lot of her outfits would not have looked out of place in couture shows of the 90s and 00s. In the UK it is common to hear the opinion that there were no female comedians until the alternative scene of the early 80s. Those comedians were important, of course, but they were not the first, either in the UK (Hylda Baker, Beryl Reid etc) or the US (Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Goldie Hawn, Joan Rivers etc). Phyllis Diller one of the greatest of the lot!
Someone NEEDS to redo Michael Jackson's Thriller, but make "It's Phyllis Dillerrrrrrrr..." Can you imagine that dance with a line of Phyllis Diller look-alikes, doing that laugh and those Thriller steps!!??
She was a gem.I thought she was funny when I was a child during the late 1960's.Her jokes are timeless. I always wondered what her husband Fang looked like.
Her humor was so intelligent AND timeless..... RIP Ms Diller!!
No cussing and crazy funny!
We miss you.
Love your hair!!😂
The timeless Phyllis Diller....she was great n always will...n not forgettable like a lot of today so-called comedians.....
Reincarnate soon please...we need you!!
Look up Ava Ryan. That little girl's humor is so eerily similar to Ms Diller
She was a ONE-OFF - there will never be anyone to equal her
She used to make fun of her plastic surgery but she never had any love you aunt Phyllis we still miss you you were the light of our lives
Not true, she spoke about the chemical peel being the most important part after her facelift and it wasn’t a comedy routine. She is beloved. 💜
She has talked about her facelift many times.
She has had surgery back in the day like when plastic surgery was considered new, before she was super famous she has everythinggggg done, her nose, multiple facelifts, this comes from her mouth, or google before and afters.
She's Amazing oh God we need someone like her now in 2020..….🍀🥂

Despite all her jokes about her looks, she was actually quite good-looking. I can only assume that with her wigs and eyebrows and exotic outfits that she was doing a kind of drag
So hard to believe she was already 60 during this performance! She looked amazing, so youthful and full of vigor.
Amazing woman
She was under appreciated. And today she's still funny!
How was she under appreciated?
Growing up, it seemed everyone appreciated her, I saw here live just about this time, I even thought this might have been the show.
Wasn’t she punk comedy of the early days?
I saw her 2 years after this in 1980 at a Palo Alto, CA theater. I was 18 years old.
Years ago, as we were watching Phyllis Diller, (the greatest comedienne I've ever seen) my mother remarked, "It must take a whole lot of courage to come out looking like that."

Those are actually really smart jokes.
Agree with you 100%. She was such a clever comedian.

She had some great one liners! Very funny!
PD is hilarious. 😆
@ANATOLIACHTZEIN This was the entirety of her performance on the show; she did not appear in any other segments.
Love her
Please read her autobiography if you haven’t
Wonderful Phyllis! Thanks for uploading her. Is there any more of the performance anywhere?
Brilliant
Sounds like it was aired before Feb. 1, 1978, given the 5 kHz telco audio.
Thin women are taking Ozempic these days to look like Phyllis. Love her humor. She was the best! ❤😂

I miss those old small town middle america accents.
@wmbrown6 Indeed - it aired in January of the year
Someone NEEDS to redo Michael Jackson's Thriller, but make "It's Phyllis Dillerrrrrrrr..."

As a kid I referred to her as the lady with wild hair
Was this the Chinese theatre Hollywood?
She was a gem.I thought she was funny when I was a child during the late 1960's.Her jokes are timeless. I always wondered what her husband Fang looked like.
I wore her albums out when I was a kid.

A female Rodney Dangerfield
The humour is so lame.
She was awesome but this canned laughter....Awful.
Hey, Queen of Ugly so funny. Too bad about the facelifts, etc. Not so funny.
Whaddya mean "not so funny"? Her humor was in what she said and how she said it.
All style......and no substance!
She sends herself up alot-her dress so sparkiling sensational dresses like a star material -not that funny though.
