I love all your tips and advice, but I was wondering where did u sort the extra cotton pads? This is the one thing that annoys me about other organising shows/videos, they decant everything so it looks pretty but I always wonder how it works in “real life” away from the camera, where is the surplus stored? Thanks 😊
Use a large piece of butcher paper and draw the size of your drawer on it. Take the piece of paper to the store. Place the bins on the paper to see what configuration of bins will fit best.
Thank you for not editing out the parts where things don't fit and showing the real story. I can so relate. Your channel is a pleasure to watch and I've found many helpful tips.
Thank you for allowing my 900 sq ft house feel like a mansion 🎉 I don’t need more space, I need less stuff! That saying is what made it all make sense 🎉
Courtney, we are downsizing from a 1700 sq ft house in Alaska, to a converted garage/mother-in-law place at our kids in Utah. Do NOT know what I would have done without watching Dawn for the last few years!
@@gwenj5419 I understand what you’re saying. Small living rooms don’t need gigantic couch with a coffee table and end tables or small kitchen with a huge hutch making the space even smaller. I’ve realized the size of furniture and what’s on the walls make a huge difference.
Thank you for not editing out the frustrating parts when a container doesn’t fit or something just doesn’t work like you hope. That’s real life organizing. I sometimes feel like I fall before I even finish so it’s nice to know it is not just me. 😊
Funnily enough, I have this video on in the background while I tackle the spice & seasonings cupboard and I could hear stuff falling over in her decluttering video behind me 😂. It just felt really relatable in a natural way 😊
I so appreciate the authenticity with which you and Tom speak with each other. The fact that he is confident to say he feels annoyed and you assured him you would endeavour to minimise the change to layout is exemplary. 🙂
Love the practicality of this video and how Tom is not afraid to express the “annoyed impatient” husband 😂😂. I practically have to nail my husband down to get him to sort through his stuff (like Tom he’s in a rush to get to his other projects) so this made me feel sooooo much better. Thanks to both of you for these videos. Most practical relatable ones I have found!!
Be patient with him and encourage him. I NEVER thought my husband would be on board but now he declutters with me. He helped me do our clothes one day (without asking...he just jumped in) and we purged OVER 70 items...this was all thanks to Dawn. His buildings and space around them have been a MESS and I was always getting on to him....a few weeks ago he went out there and just started doing them himself. It rubs off on them at some point. I told him, you will love your buildings more if we can just declutter & organize them. He said "then I won't be able to find anything"....I said "You will....let me organize and label and you will be surprised how easy it will work.
Oh my goodness! I am inspired! What I loved even more than seeing the reality of the process, is the reality of an annoyed husband who is not nearly as excited as we are about NEW BINS! 😂
Great idea. I love the minimal moms videos but was highly disappointed by this one. It’s just throwing away stuff and buying new containers and contributing to the landfills. Be conscious
Kudos to Corbin for being your little handyman/helper, and volunteering to look for spackle to make it look better. Kudos to you and your husband for teaching your children to be considerate and helpful
Instead of acrylic bins, I just use leftover strawberry and salad containers. They're not sturdy, but they get the job done and I don't move them around that often anyways. Zero cost organizing.
Hi Dawn. I am a 76-year-old who has learned SO MUCH from you! We will be downsizing at some point when we are too sick or too old to manage our big home - likely sooner than later. Using your advice, I have happily been preparing for this eventual move by decluttering so, so much! Through your inspiration, I ask myself a few simple questions about each item - “ Do I want my kids to be faced with all this ‘stuff’ to decide about? Do I really want to pack and move this to our small condo? Will there even be room in the condo to put it?”. Those simple questions have made decluttering decisions so very clear. As a result, I have thrown away, and given away many trunk-loads of ‘stuff’. It feels great! Using your ‘onion method’ helps me get rid of more and more all the time. I am always on the lookout for more items to get rid of….It is so rewarding, and gets easier and easier! My closet shelves and drawers are getting emptier and emptier. I love it! 🤗 Lately, I have been focusing on organizing what’s left into ‘containers’, much like you did in this video - My bathroom items, medicines, stationary cleaning products, greeting cards, jewelry, important documents, etc, etc, are all in clearly labelled containers. I love knowing that our belongings will be organized and ready to be easily transported to our condo. I think this will help us - and our kids - enormously when we have to move. I LOVE your videos! Maybe sometime you might consider doing some videos where you focus on what people of my age need to do to prepare for downsizing .. With your expertise, I know you’d have some great ideas to share…and I know people my age would be very interested! ( You might open up a whole new ‘senior demographic of viewers’ LOL) Keep up the good work! I’ll be watching both you and Dianna
Senior here…I agree! I love watching Dawn’s videos, they are “retraining my brain” from all the lessons of saving SO much stuff my depression era grandparents and parents drilled into our heads. It is such a mental relief when a drawer, a closet or a room finally gets done..later, I find even more stuff to get rid of!
I love your genuine reaction to how much it cost to do the organizing. I spent my time off of work over Christmas Break organizing with new containers and I didn’t realize how much I was spending. BUT, I am a person who *needs* organization for my mental health so it really felt like a necessity!
Dawn, Great video. I think so many other channels don't show the frustration of bins not fitting, having to reorder things that are bigger than the description said. Thank you for keeping it real. Thank you, Corbin, for helping Dad last wk in his video & helping Mom in this wks video. You are awesome!
Hi Dawn! We are a family of 6 in a 1300 square ft house (1 bathroom). Your channel and your lifestyle has proved that we CAN fit comfortably in our home and be content. Thank you so much for the work you are doing. I’ve just started my own channel with a focus on homeschooling & homemaking. I hope I can make even a fraction of the impact you’ve made.
At one point, we lived in a house that was 1050 square feet & there were 8 of us. We did have 1 1/2 bathrooms, but 5 of us were adults or teens. I’ve always been an organizer & clean freak. OCD. Lol. It can be done.
I’m not one to usually watch this type of video because of the cost and how unrealistic they are but you NAILED this!!! I loved it and feel like it’s affordable and doable. Thanks for making an organization bin video
I use shoe boxes, or any small box, or even the plastic food containers that lunch meat comes in. I am over 70 and dont feel the need to buy containers. But I understand for a family it is nice to have the clear containers for all to see where things are. Good luck😊
I'm the weirdo that LOVES organizing. I love bins and baskets and all of the organizing things! I just like seeing it all come together and making things look so tidy.
Your husband is the best. Tell him we loved him in this video. I literally laughed the whole time because this is exactly how it would go between my husband and I. 😂
Museum wax is great to put on the bottom of any organizers that slide around. It’s inexpensive, lasts, doesn’t get “goopy”, and is a sanity saver for those like me who have zero bandwidth for that nonsense!
Honestly Dawn, Minimal Mom - you have changed my life (allowed me to change my life) - do I want to manage all this inventory? It doesn't matter I spent money on it's ok to let it go? etc, etc. I have been struggling to de-clutter for more than 20 years. I watched the initial video "Radical mindset shifts to declutter your whole house' on 6 Jan 2023. I have been watching your videos and de-cluttering my house every weekend and every evening after work since. Wow - you do a very previous thing to release these videos to help us (me). Thank you so much
Dawn 😂😂 I love when you ask us questions in your videos - like “aren’t you normally suppose to let it sit for a little bit…” and we want to answer youuuu!!! Hahaa I totally need these “hang out” videos throughout my week where you’re talking like we’re right there with ya. Feels like hanging out with a friend ❤
Can I just say "I love you!" We've been on a minimalist journey for nearly 8 yrs (it was spurred on by my hubby's cancer diagnoses in 2015, he was just 41 at the time). Praise God he is still with us today! It's been such a journey! I enjoy watching your videos! You always encourage and inspire me! I've always loved having less! I'm not very sentimental so maybe minimalism is easier for me. We have 3 kids (22, 18 and 13). I LOVE cleaning and organizing. When I need inspiration I watch you! I've always loved creating a cozy home. When cancer hit my hubby became disabled through it. He hasn't been able to return to work yet. Our budget has become very slim but through it all I have learned to use my creative side! It's been a fun learning journey...making due with less and being creative while using what you have on hand! You and Tom are great!
Organisation is my strong suit since childhood. I guess one can say it is a personality trait or an innate skill. But it wasn’t always easy. When my house was cluttered to the brim, organising was frustrating. Now that I’ve been on the decluttering/ minimising journey for 5 years, organisation has rekindled my joy. So in conclusion: start with decluttering and minimising your inventory, and organisation will follow with more ease. ~mandy
The dollar store has incredible little snap containers that fit a deck of cards perfectly. They are usually by the food storage, and come in a 3 pack. They even fit a phase 10 deck. We love them! I just throw away the boxes and they are much easier to travel and use.
Yay Corbin! I'm still not able to quite use the drill, but you did a great job assisting your mom! And how terrific is it that you can look over and say your daughter is putting on the dishwasher! Great kids, Dawn and Tom!
I'm someone who loves to organize so this video was right up my alley. I enjoyed it so much that I watched it in it's entirely twice. The banter between you and Tom is so genuine and relatable. We know that our interests and those of our husbands don't always mesh but they are so patient with us and that is such a blessing. I also wanted to tell you how much I love your laugh. It's so contagious. When you laugh it just makes me smile. Your authenticity is the best part of all of your videos.
The spiraly hair ties are great to keep on outdoor faucets! When you turn on the spigot put it on your wrist and if you get distracted you won't geo far away before you are reminded that you have water running! We use the keychain type - they work the same.
The fun thing about these videos is how inspiring they are. I went through kitchen drawers, bathroom drawers and cupboards and was able to clean up a lot, reorganize my things all while watching this. Thanks, Dawn!
Two things: 1. Your advice about all things being inventory to be managed has stuck with me for years now and has changed the way I shop. 2. When I take the time to make my organization look pretty, I am more motivated to keep it organized. I have not had to spend much since I already had lots of bins from my overwhelm days! Thank you, Dawn!
It brings me joy to see you have true trials when trying to organize or hang things. The cutting board holder situation is something that I have found myself in more times than I can count and its refreshing that not only it happened to someone else, but that you were gracious enough to put it in the video and not sugarcoat life. Life is messy and things don't always go as planned. Thank you for being real.
Pro tip: put playing cards in ziplock baggies. Slider zipper ones, if possible. Kids have trouble getting cards in the paper boxes & end up ripping them, but will use baggies. Retired teacher tip. 😁
Dawn, you're one of my few youtubers I don't have to put on higher speed (1,5 or sth.), bc. you're fast enough already!! 😁 The peach colour of this sweater suits you amazingly! Looks so beautiful and fresh on you! ☆ I'm always happy when Tom is in a video! 😃 Your bathrooms look great! ☆ The money is well spent in the long run, I'm sure. Maybe Tom can use the cutting board rack in his garage/workshop for tools if you can't return it. I mean, they're comparable to a blowerdryer and stuff, right? 😅 The wooden lid of the bin in the living room you could maybe stain darker if you like. Loved this video very much! ♡ Thank you.
I love how you walk through every step in whatever task you are tackling! It's so helpful for those like me who have no idea what I'm doing. And mostly showing how decluttering is such a blessing to our lives and families.
Thank you Dawn. I have been at this for 2 years. I have followed you and done all your steps. I would say I was a tidy person before with “a regular amount of stuff”. I have really been able to minimize it. Especially clothing, stuff for someday and useless stuff. My house is done. And for the first time today I was actually able to make a pass through cupboards /drawers to maintain rather than declutter. It was awesome.
Instead of buying containers, I start by using boxes. Shoe boxes are easy, but think about the little box that Legg's pantyhose come in, or a box of Equal (cut down the sides so it is the depth you want.) Any food box that has a sack inside such as crackers, cereal, graham crackers. Again, cut them down to the depth you want. Then if you need to change anything around in the future you can just toss the box. It's a great way to start.
I LOVE organizing. Everything in my house has a home, I like labels. Through the years I have redone things, inspired by you and other videos. My budget is limited and I’ve used mostly $ store bins. My challenge is that I have cubes, you are right they are deep and need creativity in keeping things orderly. The second challenge is, in my small living/dining room. I like the table to be clear and neat. Next to the table, where I sit, eat, use my planner, etc., I have a basket to contain everything including pill caddy, pens, tablets, etc. I cover it with a linen napkin. The basket sits on a little Rubbermaid stool. It is functional, a deal-able, jumbled mess inside, but I wish for organization. Ideas welcome. I love this video, it is giving me hope.
THANK YOU for showing the WHOLE PROCESS!! I LOVE videos at length and where all the work was shown in between!! This is why you are one of my most favorite channels, persons, minimalist of all time!!! You are one of the biggest influences in my life to become a minimalist and I have decluttered over 90% of my stuff!!! Anyway, I really loved this long video and all your process!! Man, I FEEL YOU on the parts where organizers don't work! Been there so many times! ugh lol!!! But glad most everything worked out and your spaces look SO GOOD!!! Oh yeah, we love Rumicube too, we took your recommendation and its such a fun game as well as Taco cat!! LOL Always love and look forward to your videos!! God bless!!
I just came across this video and I love how you present yourself in the video. You show that you don't always know it all, that sometimes you just have to experiment until you find the right fit, and things don't have to look picture perfect. Thanks!
Thank you for showing us the things that don’t work, too big, etc. and the way you deal with it. it helps because I run into a lot of things that don’t do what I thought. Your reaction helps my reaction. (see, she’s dealing! It’s not the end of the world!)
I have very little money to spend on containers. I have bought some things from the dollar stores, but mostly I use old plastic food containers, shoeboxes, the plastic holders from cookie packages, and old Oxyclean containers to stash stuff in. Sometimes we just have to make do to start getting organized!
Yes boxes. As I wrote below, any food box that comes with a sack inside (i.e. cereal, graham crackers, other crackers) works well. Just cut down the sides to make them the height you want.
I saw someone take parchment paper to trace the interior of drawers then take that template to the store to try out the different storage components before bringing them home. Organizing lover.
I love watching your videos! You make it real. Our organizing struggles are real! I love how Corbin was helping too. You make it so family friendly. Thank you for what you do!
This video was just what I needed right now. I give myself an organising budget at each big declutter I improve things once I know what I will need. Until then I use the leftover storage containers from the kitchen declutter that I find without lids.
Hi Dawn I think I’m a pretty good declutter-er (if that’s even a word!) and organizer, but I have to tell you that between you, Dana and Cass, I’ve become even better at it. So thanks for all of your inspiration!
These videos are life-changing. I look forward to them so much. Your concepts have changed our home's "feel" entirely. I never tire of re-watching your videos. Thank you for producing these. I'm sure it's a ton of work.
Thank you for these videos! You & Cas are my favorites. I most appreciate you giving us permissions to get rid of “stuff we spent money on”!!! It’s been so freeing. The first drawer/cabinet is hard… the longer you work at it the easier it is to rid your space of clutter. Cas is 100% spot on with her organization classifications. I’m now able to maintain the inventory in our home. ❤❤❤❤. Thank you
Organizing is like putting a puzzle together or playing Tetris. What works in one person's drawer/pantry/dresser may not work in another person's. That can get frustrating. Tom cracks me up! I can relate to his "cricketness". And most guys are all about, "How long will this take? How much will this cost?", but they do like when it's easy to find and put away. In one of Cass's videos she talks about fitting containers in areas and only putting things back that will fit in there. Very good advice. This is one of my favorite videos. Thank you!
Good job Dawn. I would change one thing in your small vanity as it would look better and be matchy matchy, swap out the large lidded containers so the clear ones are in the top drawer and the white ones are in the bottom drawer. So you have all clear in the top drawer and all white in the bottom drawer. Now that’s expert level organisation!
I loved this SO much! I feel like getting a little nicer containers once you have really decluttered is a really nice reward. Also, when it looks nice, I think it's more motivating to keep it nice. This was fun!
Yesss! Thank you for bringing up the reality of our daily mess because we all have it, and I appreciate seeing your ways of dealing with it plus sharing some organizing tips!
I actually have just started on this decluttering journey...I have been overwhelmed with our stuff for YEARS now. So I'm in the beginning stages. Have spent a ton at the dollar store only to find that the bins I spend a little more coin on, I think they work and look much better and feel better too. I'm a work in progress. My house is a complete dumpster fire right now, but I'm working on actually figuring out where to take my donations. It's not as easy as it sounds. I'll keep you posted, lol!!
Love this video so much. Thank you for showing how to "actually" organize in real time, the thought process behind it, + especially "the messy middle" part of this process. You're right, so many don't show that + many people need help with that part the most. Please do more, so good!
Nothing you bought hardly cost anything. I would have purchased the sink thing too, I have nowhere to put my little scrapers also. The more Ii use the scraper the more I like it. The drip pan on the sink thing sold me. You organized several large drawers, I’m working on a similar project. My home is 1200 ft. large. I just had some help decluttering. It was amazing what was carried out and off. You showed me how to make the remaining pretty. I have to do chest of drawers. I don’t see many videos on this. Thank you for letting us into your life and home. It’s fun to see you so relaxed. Even when you can swear you measured correctly. Happens to all of us lol. Love
Hi Dawn I really appreciate (and enjoy watching) the details of organising and decluttering. I always feel it's a wasted opportunity when people don't show the detail involved. I just love the process of transformation, not only in the space but in the person as they achieve a calmer space. Thankyou.
I love how real this is! It makes me feel so much better about trying to organize my own house to see that even for others it isn’t as easy as it looks and doesn’t always work out as you planned. I also loved seeing how you found what containers fit first, and only afterwards started filling them. I think I sometimes do that in the wrong order.
I love organizing, and I really enjoyed this video. I think the hardest part usually is finding containers that are the right size, the right depth, and that will all fit together well enough not to waste too much drawer space. Dawn, you were lucky...but also you knew to keep trying different configurations and products until you got the best arrangement for what you wanted to do. One thought: I would put the First Aid bin on top and the Travel bin on the bottom. It's the First Aid box that you'll want to find quickly when you need it. You could also label the visible ends of the bins as well as the top, but people won't always put them back in the same orientation, so prioritizing access is a good idea.
Money well spent, they last forever! And it simplifies and cuts down on time getting ready when everything is easy, accessible and visible “stress less”
I just found your channel about 2 weeks ago, and it has been so incredibly helpful to me with my organization and trying to minimalize all of our belongings. I have gutted and redone our son's toys, our bathroom, pantry and kitchen and OMG, feels so much better about it all. I still have a long way to go to be more minimalist, but the organization has relieved so much stress and I just feel better about being in our space now. Thank you so much for all you do, it truly is so helpful and much appreciated!
You are so real and practical. I couldn't love you more. Oh, and you have the best laugh in the world! Thank you for showing the real story that we all live and how to do it better. I'm inspired! 🌹
As everyone has commented, thank you for not editing out the moments when things dont quite work out the way you hoped. You give us the inspration to keep trying different configurations instead of giving up.
I use the large white Ikea container with the divided tray for Legos. All the bricks go in the bottom section and all the specialty pieces and people go in the tray.
I just spent 45 minutes working with you and having this video running while I organized my entire vanity. Thank you so so much. I love your videos and you are a magnificent help in my life to keep things tidy and organized.
I've put all our girls tiny ponytails, barretts, ponytails, hair clips in a bead organizer case from Walmart. They have different sizes that may fit in your drawer, I keep ours in a cupboard. But it has helped so much with the random hair ties everywhere!
Dawn I'm an OCD Cricket...so every cabinet, drawer, closet, shelf etc. , has to be neat and organized. When I was growing up, my Mom kept the house very clean and neat ( you could eat off of her floors!)...but if you opened a drawer, cabinet or closet...look out! Things would come tumbling down or popping out because all the overflow was just crammed out of sight! I kept my drawers and closet as neat as possible because of my Mom's cramming abilities. After watching your videos you've inspired me to get rid of sooo much stuff! While I'm not there yet my house looks so much better then before I started 3 months ago. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You really can teach an old like me (I'm 75) new tricks! Love you and your sweet family bunches!!
Two of the best “under sink organisation” videos is At Home With Nikki - Under the Kitchen Sink. At Work with Nikki - Under the Bathroom sink (Nikki works around the plumbing etc using magazine holders). And they are aesthetically pleasing! 😊
Thanks for the tips! I will have a look. My favourite channel for organizing and also cleaning motivation is "The sunday stylist". Love her eye for how to really do a good job in organizing and cleaning. She has a long list of those videos, for example under the sink. The last mounths she had to find a new apartment and it was like a pause, so look at the older videos. There she had made her home beautiful and very organized. She has a home now but is unpacking so it's not that nice at the moment. For Miimalism and intentional living I love the channel "Simple happy zen". Such a calming and nice channel.
I have for awhile now been overwhelmed by things I don't need. I have been watching you and I have been going through my kitchen first and your videos have been very helpful. Thank you
Hi Dawn, for a cheap way to store scrunchies, you can get a roll of some sort (Pringles, paper towel roll or similar) put some contact paper around them to jazz it up a bit, cut them to width size of the drawer and just put the scrunchies through. Keeps them contained and avoids them bunching up in the drawer. Take care and great video as always!
I use recycled cardboard boxes until I sort it out and then find the containers as needed. If you move and most of us do it is expensive to rebuy containers each time. You are so spot on.
Loved this! It’s helpful to hear how you think/talk through the decisions. I have been binge-watching your other videos for the past few weeks and have made major strides in decluttering our home. Today I threw away a broken souvenir mug from 30+ years ago - not even kidding - that was a major breakthrough for me. My new mantra is “I don’t want to manage all this inventory” and out it goes! Thank you for your continued inspiration!
In your kitchen in front of the sink: create tilt-out drawers on those false upper drawers. There are tutorials on how to do it online. It's a perfect spot for those little dish-washing tools and sponges.
Fantastic as always Dawn. You may want to reverse some of the items in the drawers, so your make up bag is toward the front, if you use that more you may find it a pain to reach to the back of the drawer. Same with the bottom drawer. The brush that is used daily should be the easiest item to grab and put away. These are also things to consider when organizing drawers and cabinets. 😊
I love your videos! I have gone through my house and I have decluttered a bunch. It is truly a freedom experience! I always enjoy going back and looking at my decluttered space. Love all your videos. You have encouraged me to retackle my bathroom drawers. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for watching (I appreciate it more than you know!!!!!) Find links to items mentioned in the video description!!!!
Is sacrilege you never throw out a lego! 😁
I have the same dental floss
I appreciate You more than you know ❤
Hey Dawn... you should claim that $150 as a work expense!! ;-)
This is a fabulous idea!
Genius
Awesome idea!!
Genius 🥰💪👍
Brilliant!!
Thank you for not editing out the parts where things don't fit and showing the real story. I can so relate. Your channel is a pleasure to watch and I've found many helpful tips.
Yes, it's so frustrating that my bins don't fit like the you tube video showed.
I was going to say the same thing! I love that this shows the real life struggles as well as successes.
Agree 100%! 🙂
Thank you for allowing my 900 sq ft house feel like a mansion 🎉 I don’t need more space, I need less stuff! That saying is what made it all make sense 🎉
Your stuff has to fit the size of your house. So many people don't seem to get this simple concept.
Courtney, we are downsizing from a 1700 sq ft house in Alaska, to a converted garage/mother-in-law place at our kids in Utah. Do NOT know what I would have done without watching Dawn for the last few years!

@@gwenj5419 According to George Carlin - just move to a larger place so that you can get more stuff. 🤣
It just felt really relatable in a natural way 😊
This is exactly what I like!, Dianne
Skip to another chapter in The Minimal Mom videos??? 😱😱😱 NOOOO THANK YOU! I'll watch every single bit of it and enjoy it! 🥰🥰🥰
Right?!!
Really don't know what she's talking about!! 😄
The only scenario in which I would skip to chapters is during the rewatches!
I usually watch a couple or three times even!
You’re so kind, thank you Elle!!!! 🥰❤️

Yes! Real life :)
Thank you, I really appreciate this!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Agree. It's real life. And so many fan relate so it's great to see how you handle it, graciously. ♥️
@@TheMinimalMomYou are inspired by the Holy Spirit, Dawn. I can tell 🙏🏼❤️
You handled that so well, I could almost feel my husband’s annoyance / negativity through Tom’s very honest and vocal concerns
I loved that part too!!😂 Very relatable
Right? How can plastic hold such excitement? Yet, they surely do! 🥰
I get excited seeing any bin, anywhere, if it’s empty.
Tip: the small boxes that tea bags come in, will fit perfectly in drawers, and good for hair ties, barrettes, and similar small items.
Genius idea! And some of my herbal ones have lovely designs on the boxes & a mild lovely scent 😊
Great idea.
I love the minimal moms videos but was highly disappointed by this one.
It’s just throwing away stuff and buying new containers and contributing to the landfills.
Be conscious
Donate anything you don't need to thrift stores then others will bless you.
Plastic looks nice, but cardboard is fine. You can cut cereal boxes, etc to the height you want
I use the Tupperware that have lost their lids cause I'm working with a $0 organizing budget
Kudos to Corbin for being your little handyman/helper, and volunteering to look for spackle to make it look better. Kudos to you and your husband for teaching your children to be considerate and helpful
Is it crazy that I enjoyed watching you organize? You are blessed to have so many who will sit on your bathroom floor with you!!
I know!!! It overwhelms me at times, I still don’t know how I got here but I am SO grateful!!!! ❤️
Instead of acrylic bins, I just use leftover strawberry and salad containers. They're not sturdy, but they get the job done and I don't move them around that often anyways. Zero cost organizing.
Thanks so much for showing us behind the scenes, share your own struggles and the actual reality. So encouraging!
I appreciated that too!
As a result, I have thrown away, and given away many
trunk-loads of ‘stuff’. It feels great!
Using your ‘onion method’ helps me get rid of more and more all the time. I am always on the lookout for more items to get rid of….It is so rewarding, and gets easier and easier! My closet shelves and drawers are getting emptier and emptier. I love it! 🤗
Lately, I have been focusing on organizing what’s left into ‘containers’, much like you did in this video - My bathroom items, medicines, stationary cleaning products, greeting cards, jewelry, important documents, etc, etc, are all in clearly labelled containers.
( You might open up a whole new ‘senior demographic of viewers’ LOL)
Keep up the good work!
This is SO awesome to read Angeline! Way to go!!!!! 👏❤💪🏻
1 bathroom?! Dear goodness! And God bless you!
At one point, we lived in a house that was 1050 square feet & there were 8 of us. We did have 1 1/2 bathrooms, but 5 of us were adults or teens. I’ve always been an organizer & clean freak. OCD. Lol.
It can be done.
@@drdianneLc Oh geez this is setting off my anxiety. It can be done but man it seems like that stinks.
Our house was a little bigger, maybe 1500? Three boys, one girls, homeschooling rocks! :)
I’m not one to usually watch this type of video because of the cost and how unrealistic they are but you NAILED this!!! I loved it and feel like it’s affordable and doable. Thanks for making an organization bin video
Wow Jenni, thank you, I really appreciate this!!!
The “stuff you go looking” for VS. “stuff you need all the time”
I like that!
Watching you and your husband organize his drawer is SOOOOOOO RELATABLE!!! Thank you for sharing
Yes! My husband tends to respond like Tom when I ask him for just 2 Minutes ("ugh, I was just about to leave/do something"/ etc)
Maintenance is like combing your hair. You cant expect it to stay perfect without effort! Nice Video! Thanks!!!
Corbin is getting so tall! He did a great job helping on the coat rack! 👏👏👏Thanks for helping us! Jane❤
I know right!?! When I was watching it back I was like man, he didn’t even need me!!!
Definitely going to try this. My kids have ripped our card boxes to shreds and the cards float around the house in a sandwich baggie!
Thanks for this tip! Need to get for our cards!
I was coming on to say the same thing. The ones I found at the Dollar Tree are clear with purple snap on lids. We got our SkipBo cards to fit too.
Travel bar soap holders containers work also for desks of cards.
We do the same! So convenient and easier to keep everything together
Yay Corbin! I'm still not able to quite use the drill, but you did a great job assisting your mom! And how terrific is it that you can look over and say your daughter is putting on the dishwasher! Great kids, Dawn and Tom!
Measuring the spaces and keeping a list on my phone has helped me prevent buying bins that "almost" fit.
Great idea with the phone!
Definitely a good idea. I started with sticky notes in my agenda before I had all my notes in my Notion dashboard.
I agree wholeheartedly.
I could feel your excitement when you realized everything was fitting once the packaging was removed... and I was right there with you! I so get it!
I love how you talk to us as if we are there and can respond. I feel like I'm just hanging out with you! :)
The spiraly hair ties are great to keep on outdoor faucets! When you turn on the spigot put it on your wrist and if you get distracted you won't geo far away before you are reminded that you have water running! We use the keychain type - they work the same.
Love that idea. We have been known to get distracted and forget to turn off an outdoor faucet.
I love this!
Oh that’s a great idea Marcia!!!!
I use them for my keys so I can put in on my wrist when shopping. I carry a tiny purse so no room.
Brilliant!
The fun thing about these videos is how inspiring they are. I went through kitchen drawers, bathroom drawers and cupboards and was able to clean up a lot, reorganize my things all while watching this. Thanks, Dawn!
That's what I'm doing right now- I'm on a roll!!!! ❤
I love that your husband is real. He doesn't care about the organization and just wants his stuff in the same place. I can relate!
Yes ⬆️❤️⬆️❤️⬆️
Pro tip: put playing cards in ziplock baggies. Slider zipper ones, if possible. Kids have trouble getting cards in the paper boxes & end up ripping them, but will use baggies. Retired teacher tip. 😁
Dawn, you're one of my few youtubers I don't have to put on higher speed (1,5 or sth.), bc. you're fast enough already!! 😁
The peach colour of this sweater suits you amazingly! Looks so beautiful and fresh on you! ☆
I'm always happy when Tom is in a video! 😃
Your bathrooms look great! ☆
The money is well spent in the long run, I'm sure.
Maybe Tom can use the cutting board rack in his garage/workshop for tools if you can't return it. I mean, they're comparable to a blowerdryer and stuff, right? 😅
The wooden lid of the bin in the living room you could maybe stain darker if you like.
Loved this video very much! ♡
Thank you.
I was watching this vid and appreciating Dawn’s rate of speech too!
I watch her on 1.5 instead of 2x like everyone else. Most people speak way too slowly
I love how you walk through every step in whatever task you are tackling! It's so helpful for those like me who have no idea what I'm doing. And mostly showing how decluttering is such a blessing to our lives and families.
Thank you for not editing out the kitchen cutting board holder miscalculation. I felt much better about myself and the organizing mistakes I’ve made.
I was felling down in the dumps today and your video motivated me to get up and do my best. Tackling my laundry room while watching you.
Yes, Dawn is motivating. Check out Shannon Torrens' videos too. We all need to be encouraged.
I really appreciate that you tell us when you're stressed and overwhelmed. It's great to hear about your honest feelings.
LOL
Always love and look forward to your videos!! God bless!!
Yes! These are so motivational and the most helpful!
I love the long form videos, you keep me company while I clean 💖
I absolutely love how your videos are REAL LIFE. The fact that your door rack for cutting boards was too wide gave me great comfort 😂😂😂😂
This video was just what I needed right now. I give myself an organising budget at each big declutter I improve things once I know what I will need. Until then I use the leftover storage containers from the kitchen declutter that I find without lids.
Love the idea of rewarding yourself with an organizing budget.
Amazing! Thanks for showing Al the trial and error and even that your husband wasn’t super excited. Very helpful!
Hi Dawn
I think I’m a pretty good declutter-er (if that’s even a word!) and organizer, but I have to tell you that between you, Dana and Cass, I’ve become even better at it.
Labels are your friend...because your husband can read what's in the container and not have to ask! 😁👌 Thanks for another great video!
I loved this SO much! I feel like getting a little nicer containers once you have really decluttered is a really nice reward. Also, when it looks nice, I think it's more motivating to keep it nice. This was fun!
I love how you show that we don't need to go on a big shopping trip for every thing. Just a few things at a time.
Yesss! Thank you for bringing up the reality of our daily mess because we all have it, and I appreciate seeing your ways of dealing with it plus sharing some organizing tips!
Turn broken handle to back. I love you doing the leg work to find all these containers! This 75 year old is learning and using new tricks.
You reminded me I have so many pull out cabinet features I've never screwed into the bottom of the cabinets 🤷♀️
Thankyou.
I like how she shows the ENTIRE process. Excellent video
The look on your face when those container fit! So precious!
Welcome!
Wow Amy, this is SO cool to read!!! Really proud of you!!! ❤
You are so real and practical. I couldn't love you more. Oh, and you have the best laugh in the world! Thank you for showing the real story that we all live and how to do it better. I'm inspired! 🌹
For your clear lids, cover them with contact paper so you don't see thru them. Sides still show but it definitely visually simplifies.
As everyone has commented, thank you for not editing out the moments when things dont quite work out the way you hoped. You give us the inspration to keep trying different configurations instead of giving up.
About the drawers, use dollar store sponges to take up spare space to keep bins from shifting, easy to rearrange any time you wish.
Great idea! I was thinking the extra clear lids might work in those tight spaces and might not be visible while holding bins in place.
I love the realism you show. Sometimes organizing ideas work and sometimes they don’t!
Two of the best “under sink organisation” videos is
At Home With Nikki - Under the Kitchen Sink.
At Work with Nikki - Under the Bathroom sink
(Nikki works around the plumbing etc using magazine holders).
I hang mine on an extra metal shower ring. Works great.
Thank you for brightening my day with your cheerfulness!
To see you throwing stuff into the garbage would be satisfying 😍
It’s so gratifying, isn’t it!?! Totally relate!!!!!❤
