      I love your peachy, floral blouse. Do you have a link for it? One suggestion for your supplements- if you get pill boxes & fill them weekly, you don’t have to open 6, 8, ??? bottles every morning. I’m on several meds as well as supplements & fill my pill boxes twice a month. Great job on the decluttering! 😊❤️

      Dawn....I've had white corelle for decades BECAUSE it goes with EVERYTHING! This means you can change all accessories to whatever seasonal, fad, etc and it still matches... (ultimate in long term frugal, tasteful, flexible, sturdy, minimal). Use your pioneer woman pieces as serving dishes to add a touch of fun... they will look good with the white plates, everything always does.

    My husband and I often have to remind one another that certain things impact one of us more than the other, and so we need to give priority to the preferences of the person most impacted. For example: if I am the one changing the diapers the most and I prefer for the diapers to be stored in the drawer over the closet, then my preference trumps his preference for the diapers to go in the closet. If he prefers his lunchbox to sit out on the table on the weekdays so it’s accessible when he leaves for work at 5 am, that impacts him more than me, so my preference for the lunchbox to go in the cabinet when it’s not being used is overruled.
    I really appreciate that you recognized that your daughter is the one doing the bulk of the dishes and prioritized her preference for matching, easy to clean/put away dish-ware over your preference for colorful and eclectic dishes. Particularly given the power dynamic at play between mother and daughter, I feel like the lesson you taught her in that moment is huge! That it’s important to recognize when an issue is small for you and big for someone else, and be willing to adjust accordingly. Go you!!

    I think that was a great suggestion from your daughter to change the dishes. The white looks so nice and the fact that they stack so nicely gives your cupboard a more organized look than when you had the other dinner plates in there. Instead of packing your PW bowls, leave them out on your display shelves, stacked together or separately. As for the dinner plate get a stand and place it in the corner of your counter, so you can capture all the pretty colours that the plate has and coordinates with your kitchen. Just a thought for using what you have to decorate . Have a great day 😊

      I grew up in a home with a Mediterranean kitchen and your comment made me remember that sometimes the pretty pottery dishes were hung on the wall as art instead of for use. I have heard all the stories of my parents going on vacation and carefully bringing back mementos from their trips in their luggage back in the day when you could pack heavy suitcases and weren't charged of extra for them. Those dishes have since been retired and put in the basement that's all this hand-painted pottery that was hung on the wall with care to remember the places they had visited before the kids came along. I think the pictures didn't do them justice which is why they started that collection. 🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽

    Keeping a couple plates are nice to use when taking a cake or cookies to someone, then just tell them to keep the plate or pass it on. Also, keep one of your pretty glasses to use as a vase. Of course, this kind of goes against keeping something for "what if"

      My first set I got for a wedding gift from my Mom & Daddy in 1982. I have 3 different patterns over the years. I have the white with the green flowers, the white with the blue hearts, and the cream with the blue and rose color ribbons. I have lost alot of my bowls, but still have a few of all 3 sets. I haven't broken too many saucers though. I have some of my mom and dad's dishes now, the white with green flowers. When the those things break, they shatter in a million thin slivers. I hate that about them. I won't never get rid of my Correll dishes. Will use them until the last one is broken. I think they will probably last me the rest of my life. I'm 59 so I expect to not run out of them. 😅

    After losing my family home, and all of its contents, 3 years ago, I replaced all of our kitchen dishes with a basic set of Corelle. Three years on, they are still as good as new. When you have to re-start from nothing, one of the major blessings is that you get to appreciate the simple things, and function over form. You also get to create new memories!. I'm still learning, and love all of your videos and guidance, so, thank-you for being here!.

    Rest assured that 95% of the time I watch/listen to your videos while I’m doing either a quick declutter, tackling a chore, or ferrying items back to their homes. Doubling has been working for me my whole life. I used to body double with my bff while we cleaned our rooms or rearranged things during sleepovers from middle school through some college years. It works!

    • @celita8183
      @celita8183 Рік тому

      First time hearing this term in the comments today called "body doubling," but totally understood it now based on your comment and I passed by at least half a dozen before I got to your comment. So body doubling is that sense of inspiration and motivation that we get to want to do the actions and words we are listening to by replicating them in our own space. Totally get it now. I understand that I just cleared an entire kitchen counter while Dawn was explaining how she keeps hers that way!
      I always keep the current recipe ingredients that I want to use on the counter but I have the inspiration to make that recipe but that's not what we're logically going to eat that week so it just sits on the counter and either I have too much in the pantry or I'm buying ingredients that realistically I'm not using in the right amount of time and I need to be more honest with myself and say either it can last in the pantry x amount of months or don't buy it!! We're not going to be eating that more complicated recipie as often as I hope.

  • @cactusbutterfly2939
    @cactusbutterfly2939 Рік тому +28

    I loved this video! Dawn, while I loved watching the process, I have to say what I noticed the most was how much better - healthier, happier, and beautiful you look in that peach colored top! I understand the "uniform" concept and agree with you, as I do the same thing, but can I ask that you consider having your "colors" done? Maybe fun for you and Diane both to do together? That way you can know the best colors for you to wear, then you can still buy your "uniform" pieces in that color palette. Knowing your personal color palette really eliminates all the decision making and boosts your confidence because you know whatever you grab will look wonderful, even your "hacking around" work type clothes!
    Also, just a thought, I can't tell how deep your kitchen drawers are, but have you tried folding your kitchen towels and microfiber clothes the Marie Kondo style, like file folders? I did that a few years ago and found it to make a huge difference. I also replace to the back as I wash them, so I use them all more evenly now!
    And, a final thought - live a little! Use the pretty dishtowels! My mom passed away last year and she had tons of "good towels" that no one was allowed to use. You work hard! Use the pretty towels and when they get scrungy, you can buy new ones! Or maybe Diane can buy you some, instead of forcing beauty products on you that she likes - haha! :)

    The Corelle ware lasts forever! I’ve had my set for 20 years and first got them when I was 18 in college! They have survived dorm life, apartment living with roommates, and now we are a busy family of 6 that cooks 2 meals a day. I’ve only ever had one bowl break. It fell off a box in my storage unit when I unpacked it after one summer. My youngest (almost 2) chucked a plate on our tile yesterday, and not even chipped!
