Africans who have told their history to African Americans have woke us up. Your history gives us pride and strength. I am so hurt when Africans tell me to embrace being what I am socially titled as but I understand that they do not know our TRUE history and what we have been through in America. Because of our treatment here, when we hear African history we hold it dear to our hearts because besides that we have no ancient history.

@@iphily20 I think a stable population is needed. There is only 12milion square miles of arable farm land on earth equating to roughly 1 acre per person. I don't know what the absolute minimum requirement is but I do know their is a minimum. Having a population double every 30 years is unsustainable I think. It could be that there is information that I lack that will change all those predictions and the human population can go up infinitely without problems. If you have this knowledge please share how this is possible.
@@grahamt5924 well as far as i can say is that i know, say from my country in afrika, that there's vast land, most of which is a rangeland where people can cultivate since a big portion of the population is based on that. Other states sure have enough land (leaving aside marginal lands) so afrika still doesn't need to worry much about it's growing population rather on how to feed and manage it.

I have to say that she meant well. It was a talk based on someone who's African experience was and still is a good one. There is so much to tell about Africa that a few minutes TED TALK can't do justice but I'm receiving what she tried to convey in a good way.

I have lived in Africa all my life. There have been African Historians who have written on Africa, some who are biased and some unbiased. The same with some white Africans with a biased or unbiased narrative. I look at the African came from great civilisations, and I don't dispute that. They migrated from North of Africa and other areas. In history the world "NO racism", did NOT exist and was invented by man, as was antisemitism. Before, people where referred to by their language and culture. Through the centuries there has been great migrations, assimilations and mixing of color, race and culture, through "wars, tribal or other, conflicts, droughts, floods, earthquakes, diseases, and other. New languages and language dialects with the mixing of different languages. Cultures too were intermingled as well. Some dark skinned people cohabited with lighter skinned. (We have the "coloured", from dark skinned or white skinned parents). I look at the Arabs and Jews, where some are darker skinned and others lighter skinned. Who knows with all the intermingling of races through centuries, what their original skin color was. One can look at a coloured person - dark skinned and light skinned parents 2 generations later, if they cohabited with a light skinned person would have only white skinned people. Same applied if their child cohabited with dark skinned people. Some stayed within their culture race and color. Africans in Africa, who have migrated from to top north down to the South did not come down with the skills from the civilisations they may have once belong to. I came from a poor white family, and we learned skills ourselves. Parents pass them on to their children. Yet with the Africans in Africa this did not go very far. The woman took care of the food (growing it), the children, and the men looked after cattle, were warriors (fighting other tribes) or hunters. They were comfortable with this system, with the Tribal Chief or King calling the shots with a few of his chosen men carrying out his orders. (Similar system to Communism). The "lighter skinned" had much the same with the "rich landlords/Kings" and there chosen helpers with the majority "peasant workers". Poor is NOT exclusive to "dark skinned" people, but ALL through history at one time or another. Technology has advanced increased, yet man himself the majority has not, and its only a small percentage of humanity to has benefited from it. Humanity - their lives have been a struggle to bring up families. Both "dark skinned" and "white skinned" people need to respect and understand that its up to the individual to advanced themselves with whatever skills they may have. Laziness or complacency is one of the greatest problems humanity has. They have got used to handouts. We have seen in history how people have survived making the best of what they have. Today it is motivated by "greed and wants" instead of "needs". As long as one has food, clothing and a roof over ones head one can be content. COVETING is one of the greatest SINS of mankind. One really needs to see each other through different eyes. We created the same and color us skin deep. (Children dark skinned and light skinned play well together with no prejudices. These are taught by parents, not born with).
The biggest lesson Westernized countries are learning is Africa isn't waiting for them! The countries of Africa has all kinds of investors from all over the world. China being one major investor. They are building at phenomenal rates and growing. Just remember, Ignorance never fed anyone....

People on trade ships met other people, and men and women fall in love and have children. We are all human and we all have the "right" to live where we more or less want to within reason. When the investors became impatient and were yelling, I wonder what they were saying why she had to emphasize the need for RESPECT.
I believe the majority of investors don't truly respect the people, no matter how much they pretend even when things are going well. When frustration arises then we hear and see the investors' true "feelings" about the people or continent.

I have lived in Africa all my life. There have been African Historians who have written on Africa, some who are biased and some unbiased. The same with some white Africans with a biased or unbiased narrative. I look at the African came from great civilisations, and I don't dispute that. They migrated from North of Africa and other areas. In history the world "NO racism", did NOT exist and was invented by man, as was antisemitism. Before, people where referred to by their language and culture. Through the centuries there has been great migrations, assimilations and mixing of color, race and culture, through "wars, tribal or other, conflicts, droughts, floods, earthquakes, diseases, and other. New languages and language dialects with the mixing of different languages. Cultures too were intermingled as well. Some dark skinned people cohabited with lighter skinned. (We have the "coloured", from dark skinned or white skinned parents). I look at the Arabs and Jews, where some are darker skinned and others lighter skinned. Who knows with all the intermingling of races through centuries, what their original skin color was. One can look at a coloured person - dark skinned and light skinned parents 2 generations later, if they cohabited with a light skinned person would have only white skinned people. Same applied if their child cohabited with dark skinned people. Some stayed within their culture race and color.
Africans in Africa, who have migrated from to top north down to the South did not come down with the skills from the civilisations they may have once belong to. I came from a poor white family, and we learned skills ourselves. Parents pass them on to their children. Yet with the Africans in Africa this did not go very far. The woman took care of the food (growing it), the children, and the men looked after cattle, were warriors (fighting other tribes) or hunters. They were comfortable with this system, with the Tribal Chief or King calling the shots with a few of his chosen men carrying out his orders. (Similar system to Communism). The "lighter skinned" had much the same with the "rich landlords/Kings" and there chosen helpers with the majority "peasant workers". Poor is NOT exclusive to "dark skinned" people, but ALL through history at one time or another. Technology has advanced increased, yet man himself the majority has not, and its only a small percentage of humanity to has benefited from it. Humanity - their lives have been a struggle to bring up families.
Both "dark skinned" and "white skinned" people need to respect and understand that its up to the individual to advanced themselves with whatever skills they may have. Laziness or complacency is one of the greatest problems humanity has. They have got used to handouts. We have seen in history how people have survived making the best of what they have. Today it is motivated by "greed and wants" instead of "needs". As long as one has food, clothing and a roof over ones head one can be content. COVETING is one of the greatest SINS of mankind. One really needs to see each other through different eyes. We created the same and color us skin deep. (Children dark skinned and light skinned play well together with no prejudices. These are taught by parents, not born with).
The biggest lesson Westernized countries are learning is Africa isn't waiting for them! The countries of Africa has all kinds of investors from all over the world. China being one major investor. They are building at phenomenal rates and growing. Just remember, Ignorance never fed anyone....

When people move into white countries it is called emigration , when whites move into non white countries it is called invading .
People look around growing up in a given area and they think what they are seeing is pretty much How it has always has been. Dam I was 28 years old before I could afford the internet . I had to deal with people looking at me like I was 5 to 10 years out of date. I still do not have a cell phone.
50 years ago my dad could still go camping in the woods/ forest in side city limits as a teenager. Now there are houses there. My home town has grow 6x it's starting population in the past 80 years.
We gotten use to hearing Billions of People in the World, and some of us live in areas that hold hundreds of thousands of people. Most people just feel more comfortable not thinking about How few people use to live in the world. And in the early copper to iron age with the Greeks and Romans, due to the Sahara, North Africa Was Empty. Greek/ Turkey myth history talk how city states were started along the North Africa coast line. Cause no one was there.
Other than argue about invaders and ethic groups to pick fights. People on trade ships met other people, and men and women fall in love and have children. We are all human and we all have the "right" to live where we more or less want to within reason. After give or take five to ten years worth of training.
Many Africans don't see the country lines to be honest. Lol. Most of us consider ourselves one and siblings. :-)

And Africans in the continent will have to come to terms with those of us that call ourselves Africans but have never stepped foot in a place we consider our motherland.
