UPDATED 2022 Video - • Basic Compositing with...
Here's how to composite Google Earth Studio animations with elements inside of Adobe After Effects. In this tutorial I'll show you step-by-step how to create an animation inside of Google Earth Studio, add track points, export the 3D camera data, and then import that data into Adobe After Effects. Once inside of After Effects, I'll show in detail how to composite both 2D and 3D graphic elements in Google Earth animations.

@@Rahulpal-zh3zi Go to Google Earth Studio and click on Try Earth Studio. The program is browser-based, so you don't download anything.

Hey, do you know what they call an Arc de Triomphe in Paris?
Hold down shift while you parent those 3D layers to the null and you won't have to reset their position and orientation to 0
Dang, dope suggestion. This is my favorite comment.
I know I wont ever use this or even own Adobe After Effects. Yet was still really cool to watch. Good video man
Ha, well glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the kind words.
Fantastic tutorial
I bet my computer will take a day to render a frame for something like this
haha yeah my MacBook Pro gets really noisy when I use Google Earth Studio. You can probably hear it in the tutorial...
Mac's sucks.
on a pc - aged- i did the whole compression thing but failed to download the result :-(
on an iMac 8go, it gets reasonable
@@davidAll5 hhahahahahah
@@davidAll5Thing is, with the budget you had to nab an iMac 8go, you could've gotten yourself a way more powerful rig with SSDs and a high end GPU for possibly even cheaper. I don't know what you needed the 8go for (you could be a graphic artist who would need the more hue-accurate display), but for the average person, that just isn't the practical way to go.
Not starting a debate, just didn't want to leave people misled. As a multimedia designer, I myself own several Apple products as well as custom built rigs. Macs for illustration and design, PC for the heavy duty rendering of 3D animation and video(/games).
This tut is freaking awesome! Earth Studio is amazing as well. Nice ending Lucas :D
Thanks, Piotr! Lucas says hello.

I'm not sure as to why UA-cam recommended this video to me, but I really did enjoy it.
Do you use After Effects, or are you a fan of Google Earth? I wonder as well. A few others have been saying the same thing.
@@BooneLovesVideo I'm a fan of Google Earth but I have literally no After Effects skills.
The video we never knew we needed until now.
thank you. now i know that i am not the only one who uses expressions within after effects. great way to create footage without the need to buy it. and it looks great.

You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
I’ve clocked in so many hours on Ae already after discovering Google Earth Studio from this video. Thanks so much!
You're welcome! Thanks for the kind words.
This is so cool! Please do more tutorials like this! I would love to see a video covering “news-like” editing with a line going from point A to B. Maybe being masked by tall buildings or something like that :D
Thanks! Hey check this out-

amazing work, def going to try this. Ever work with mapbox for different kind of visualizations like driving directions etc?
Nope, haven'e messed with Mapbox yet. Looks very cool though!
This tutorial is great, thank you! I got approved and am excited to create and share a project made with GE&AE. Also excited for future commercial use, this software is perfect for use in real estate marketing!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Looking forward to see what you make. And yeah, there are a ton of uses for real estate. You could show an entire neighborhood. Very interesting creative options.
How long did it take for you to be approved?
About 10 days
Awesome tutorial. I got access to GES and really having a lot of fun with it. I didn't realize there were programed moves so that's a big time saver.
wow - just trying to figure out the basics of Google Earth Studio. Your tutorial here is very helpful and indeed inspiring.
Thanks, Andy. Glad it helps.
This is exactly what I was looking for! Will sub and hope you show us how to do shape and line animations. +1 for cute baby
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely look into it.
8:17 You don't need an expression; you can just use the pick-whip (little spiral thingy under 'Parent & Link') to attach your 'RadarBlip' layer to the track point.
Very true! Thanks dude.
Great tutorial! You're really good at this. Well paced; clear explanations of each step; plus, everything you showed, I got pretty much the same result in my project (I can't say that for a lot of other tuts out there). Excellent job. I'm sure I'll put this knowledge to good use.
Glad it helped! Thanks for the nice comment.
The results were epic with relatively low effort! Thank you for sharing such an amazing tutorial!
Yeah, it's quite easy to use. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, it's crazy fun.
Wow this is really awesome. The tutorial is also very clear !
Thank you.
For me as an architecture student, these animations are really handy !
Thanks for watching! I'd be interested to see what you create with it.
Thanks for a very stimulating challenge. Bit of a mash up between Google Earth & AE = brilliant possibilities . . .

Thanks, Rahmin. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I ran this again with another segment I created. I added 2 track points. One of them tracked perfectly, the other was wild, flying all over the place. Not sure why the behavior of them was so totally different. My guess is that these only work really well in fairly simple situations, where the tracked point is on screen the whole time and doesn't move around too much. When they work though it's magic!
Hm, that's interesting. I'm about to start doing a few new tutorials on Google Earth Studio, so I might be able to answer your questions soon. But yeah, when the program works indeed it is magic.

Your editing skills are great but google earth's textures for buildings are very low res. The sky 2D shots are definitely useful but I don't see many people doing things in 3D that close to the surface. Cheers!
Definitely true. In Google's documentation they actually have a suggested angle and altitude for the camera to get as close as possible to photorealistic images.
