The new mufflers look cool, never seen them before. They did clean up the exhaust sound, but it's too quiet with the S Types.
That switchfire pipe must have been causing it to drone.
X pipe on coyote = super raspy. Always go with H pipe.
I had the S-Type on my Camaro until I got a new cam. It rattled my entire neighborhood so I switched it out for the Touring. Now it's a less violent rattle. xD

That makes no sense for Borla cat backs to have any drone for the price they are. Especially the s type.
They don't. I've had them with stock h pipe and an offroad x-pipe and they are about the only ones I've had that didn't drone. Idk why they're droning on this car
@camyota I didn't understand that, either. I have a friend with 16 GT with Borla ATAKs and there is very minimum to no drone, like the Corsa.
Its cuz it isn't a full cat back. Its just an axle back. BORLAs full cat back has 3 inch tubing all the way through. So hes putting all that through the factory 2.5 tubing.
@@TeeJay3710 the Borla mufflers are what's setup to kill the drone, no matter what the rest of the exhaust is. If his car is droning, something is wrong with his mufflers. I have Corsa Extreme mufflers on my 14 GT and they don't come as a catback, because of how the 11-14 exhaust is setup from factory. My car has very little to no drone, even after I cut my resonators and made it louder, the no drone stayed the same. Should be the same case with any Borla mufflers.
I've had Borla S Type on 2 Terminators and my now 11 GT500 with Kooks long tubes no drone on any of them. I know not the same cars as this one just saying I've never heard anyone complain about S Type

The louder the exhaust, the less likely your neighbors will talk to you. It's perfect - I hate loaning out my tools or being invited to lame dinner parties.
Was not sold on the tone of the new gen mustangs, but that idle with the Netami sounds GOOD. I like the volume of the S-type more though. Atak probably goes crazy on a GT.

Just put a corsa double H pipe system on it. Super deep down and high rpm sounds like a nascar. I have it on mine.

Borla doesn’t drone at all, he had to buy the actual cat back from borla and not just put whatever s type muffler on it, each catback is made and engineered specifically for mustangs and drone
Funny I've never bought a full cat back for the 3 mustangs I've owned and all had S Type axle backs with 0 drone ....My 11 GT500 was bone stock put S Type on sounded amazing but not loud enough so put x pipe no cats absolutely beautiful got compliments all the time even from Other brand lovers and then when cammed with kooks long tubes and now its complete not one time have had any drone issues

That's what the atak should have sounded like not the s-type. As with the AWE touring system, it uses resonators AND mufflers just like he added. Way classier. Did the mustang originally have active exhaust on before?

That switchfire pipe is what I am looking at as the bigger source of drone. IMO I would've left it the way it was. Sounds really nice and aggressive, what borla is mostly known for. If you want it quiter then stick to stock IMO. That's just me, everyone will have different opinion. Best solution is generally using a valved system so that way you can switch between loud and normal.

What is with all these guys wanting the cars to be quiet. Every mustang should be long tube headers X pipe or H pipe no cats and some loud ass mufflers. You should want to hear the sound of that exhaust with the windows Down or up. People should hear you come in from miles away.

Hey guys, need some advice from you. I've got an '08 Magnum SRT8. I love the Borla S-Type sound, but Borla only offers an ATAK catback system for my car. They seemed almost offended when I talked to them asking if they could change from ATAK to S-Type. What are my options if I'm dead set on getting S-Type system? I'm on the West coast, so unfortunately it isn't in the cards to have you do the work :(
Borla makes their CrateMuffler in S-type sound level. would just have to get the right in/out diameter and have a muffler shop replace your mufflers with it

I have the S Type on our 2022 Rango RT with the 5.7 HEMI. Love the way it sounds, and basically no drone at all.
Idle sounds better but the rest sounds worse.

I have a 22 Mustang with Borla S-type cat back, and there is zero drone. His exhaust is pieced together. It's not a true Borla cat back kit. Mine has small resonators before the mufflers and was never offered with the switch fire x-pipe. They only came with an x-pipe or H-pipe. So I assume his pieced together system was the cause of the drone.
False. I just have the axel backs and an aftermarket h-pipe. I have no drone.

The borla sounds like when I used to put a baseball card in my spokes on my bicycle to make that noise. Awful. High pitch and raspy. Edit: sounds much better afterwards!! Nice

People crap talking this bodystyle... it looks better imo than 15-23.
This S650 looks better than the S550. The rear design is much better. However, I still think the best looking modern Mustang body style is the true retro 05-09 model. I remember when they came out and how they turned so many heads and the Mustangs since have simply not had that same effect. I sometimes see newer ones and think “that thing looks terrible”. It often comes down to the colour and the S550 has a cheap, round, weird look as a convertible.
The s650 mustang has the ugliest rear end out of any mustang.
Too bad it’s an automatic
