Well at least with Brett I believe she genuinely could not hear all of the question. Unlike Gary, who always makes Gene repeat the question only for his lame attempt for a laugh with his answer.
@@proud_brettsomersfanclub8687 I could be wrong, but I don't think Dean S. is being nasty; I think he's suggesting a medical reason for why Brett needed to have the questions repeated. It's a pretty good suggestion, as that could well be the reason she drank, trying to self-medicate.
If Gary had just not tried to be funny all the time, he might have come off as endearing and/or cute. But he ruined it by always trying too hard to be funny and to steal the spotlight.
One more thing to add I hope. Brett needs her ears checked to see if she needs hearing aids and she always takes two to three minutes to explain what she wrote down instead of just turning the card around right then and there. Thank you for your time.
Dorothy Coker Yes, thank you! I hate to put a damper on the fun and I know I’ll catch all kinds of flack, but I just had the thought...Gary Burghoff is still alive and what if he were to look at these comments for fun? How truly horrible he would feel if, knowing he can’t change the past, he read all the terribly unkind thoughts people felt compelled to share in the episodes he is in. Seriously, how many of you all have made an ass of yourself and regretted it? Guess I’m feeling introspective today. Peace.
you7 must have missed earlier shows when Gary would overrun Gene's entrance by aping around him, chasing him around the studio and the worse, dumping a trash bin of garbage on the stage. He was just an ass and deserves the dislike he earned.
Go back and watch all the episodes when Gary overrode Gene’s entrances and blurted out unfunny answers trying to fit in - and woefully failing at it. At times, he acted like a child starving for attention. It was ridiculous. BUT, if and when Gary did have a good or clever answer, I did give him credit. Apparently, the staff dropped him a memo to tone down the showboating antics, because even Gene was getting tired of his ways.

@@ts.elliot5870 she loves gene Rayburn he’s better than jack kugman and they have fun together going to the motel and having a good time but he better not tell Brett to shut up I’m not playing she will tell her husband
The reading of every question gets an immediate cut to Elaine's wide eyed reaction
absolute idiot, also cant stand the lip licking thing
@@lesburns7395 it was an obvious act she eventually dropped. In the show's later years she doesn't behave this way at all.
First thing I said. Oh great Elaine and her weird mouth licking is back lol
She had some bad luck later on
Love Fannie's shirt❤❤❤
By the way, can't wait for the return of CNR!
Ugh I have been paid fully counting the days...
The y need to get Charles Neilson Reilly back to permanently replace the high school actor on Brett’s left side as known as Gary
Elaine: I HAVE PULLING!!
Richard: SON OF PULLING!!
Fannie: SON OF SON OF PULLING!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
John Forsythe 🥰❤❤❤ And very distinguished, sexy voice. 😍
This show aged well.
BETTER without saint Richard
@@kristabrewer6736 That is not what I meant. The original year's aged we'll into the future. The Richard ones. Show pretty much sucked after he left
It looks that John Forsythe was expecting a lot of BS with his shovel answer...
It was a good answer.
Ann! Another pretty lady in a cute outfit. Those slender 70s ladies had STYLE!
The country as a whole was more slender. Back when going out for food was a once or twice a month treat. Not a every day occurrence.
"fly" is hysterical. And right in tune with this show. Edgy.
He does wash his hands but he dries them on his nurse
I thought secretary but nurse is good too!
How did that guy ever manage to win over $8000 dollars with answers like that?
I like looking at the contestants...their hairstyles, clothes, personalities, etc.
How old were you in the mid 70s?
Speaking of hairstyles, Ron's almost looks like a toupee, absolutely awful
@@donaldleroy6502 I wonder if the contestants had access to hair and makeup people.

I'll say it again - Brett either is partially deaf or pretends to be so the camera will focus on her when she says she needs question repeated. Jeez!
Well at least with Brett I believe she genuinely could not hear all of the question. Unlike Gary, who always makes Gene repeat the question only for his lame attempt for a laugh with his answer.
I think Brett was honestly a little hard of hearing. Plus, being at that back row might have made it more difficult to hear too.
I think Brett had ADD or ADHD. She couldn't focus long enough to hear the question.
