It is interesting to see real fashions and styles from the period as opposed to those in TV shows and movies made recently but set in the 1970s. Interestingly, men's formal attire has remained surprisingly constant, though. For example, Nipsey looks rather contemporary (if a little dressier than you would expect on a TV game show today) and Gene's suits have been a bit loud but usually still within an acceptable range for today for a mid-level businessman his age. Gary always looks fairly contemporary as well, like a suburban dad in those sweater vests he likes so much. Richard usually sticks to a classic timeless look as well (except for his "Captain Kangaroo" jacket that he tends to favo(u)r. I think Brett also generally has a look which I might describe as aging Hollywood star chic, which actually suits her and her personality. I guess today a star of her age (and even much older) would try to dress and look much younger and sexier even if came off a bit inappropriate.
I doubt it's make-up. The old fluorescent bulbs used to make me (and a lot of other people) look a funny grayish color, and make me have dark circles under my eyes.
