I took a class called “identity and culture through film,” not knowing I’d be introduced to Spike lee. He’s definitely one of my favorite directors now. I’m so glad they’re teaching his work.
Spike Lee, to me is like Steven Spielberg, meaning with his creativity, and that he uses his skills and talents to the fullest. Took me awhile to recognize this, because most of his films were subtle, like read between the lines, and me being young and naive, couldn't catch it right away. Like School Days, I was clueless a bit, to Fishburne yelling WAKE UP. But now I'm older and wiser, and waking up, I can very well relate to that. I'm still waking up to a lot of things, but at least I am waking up. ✌❤🙏🌷🌲🕺🎵

I love Spike's movies.
I met Spike Lee at this record store in NYC a couple of moons ago. Early 90s I believe. The store occupied the whole block, half for music and the other half for videos and was located on 60 something street, near a subway station. I think it was called TOWER RECORDS AND VIDEO.
He was waiting on line to pay and I was like two bodies behind him and I recognized him and
when I said hi he answered as if I was his next door neighbor.
"YO MAN, WHAT'S UP".
Chatted for a couple of minutes until it was his turn to pay and before leaving he shook my hand and said, "TAKE CARE, MAN".
Really nice guy in my opinion.

....also not enough Jungle Fever moments. You gotta show Samuel L's amazing performance, with Gator's last dance in Jungle Fever! Epic scene, before Samuel became a caricature.
"I got it, I'm gone" is in a lot of Spike films too. Notably, Do The Right Thing and BlacKkKlansman
left out so much on Do the Right Thing. I don't remember even seeing Mister Señor Love Daddy, Radio Raheem, not much Mookie if any, I think I saw one shot where Buggin-out was facing someone in the street. Great video, absolutely. But not enough Do the Right Thing content. It's only his best work.

The oscar snub was a clear indication that Lee is yesterday's token Black. His one note whining films have clearly jumped the shark in favor of new Black talent. Then again the 5 Bloods was simply an overlong bore with noise added to keep you awake.
Spike lee accuracy is really bad.His screenwriting has a very whiny choice I think he tries to make white people look foolish in every movie because deep down he's a bit racist.i know what's the worry black people can be no big deal but on a 1/10 scale if John Sing. is a 6 spike is a 10.
