      A 4 Cylinder truck that is far better than the outgoing 3.5 V6. The only thing the V6 has going for it was reliability. It was a dog otherwise. The 4.0 V6 was far better imo. But yes, 56k is crazy no matter how much you look at it.

    • @ZoomZoom356

      The 4 cylinder is way better than that old 3.5 V6, that engine was reliable but it was so underpowered, torque with that engine was basically nonexistent.

    @alwaysiyi272 8 місяців тому +2

    I get that the truck is expensive but I don't understand why everyone is acting like its only Toyota, like the Canyon, Silverado etc are equally just as expensive. That is what happens when your truck is brand new from thr ground up. The Frontier can afford to be cheap because it is just a revised version of the same truck they'd been selling for years

    Nice to hear decent things about 4G Tacoma. My 3G 2019 was the worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. Way too much shop time and QDR issues. Never again. Hopefully rattling doesn’t make it to production on these newer ones. That was one of many issues my 2019 experienced - creaks, rattles and pops from the dash plastics. It screamed CHEAP. My 2019 is no longer my problem.
    I told those clowns that I smelled fuel at times hood up and at idle almost 2 years ago. Guess what? Today I receive a letter in the mail from Toyota indicating they have extended the high pressure fuel pump warranty due to my exact described issue. Toyota blew me off making me think I was a crazy person.

    I think Toyota went off the deep end with this. Removing doors on an extended cab is something quite literally nobody asked for. Removing the seats I understand, the doors? C'mon. The price is insane. The competition all makes more power, is more efficient, practical and a lot cheaper.
    All the vehicles on this platform are pretty heavy, inefficient and have some weird compromises such as tiny fuel tanks and less articulation than before. Paying more than a full size truck is wild especially when it's this gutless and inefficient.

    • @callofdutyguy9
      @callofdutyguy9 7 місяців тому

      Bean counters and the truck is built on TNGA-F same as Tundra, Landcruiser, 4Runner, LX, etc. Which means compromises in many areas to make all these vehicles mount on the same architecture.

    I have a 2024 trd off road trim about to be delivered, got it without markup for 50k even out the door. Heard some people are paying 45+ for an sr5 with options. Doesn’t make sense. I’m 3 trim levels above for same price.

      @@TheSpruceGoose just another person that’s hates everything new, given the new manufacturing processes involved in this vehicle, from the laser welded fully boxed frame to the commercially duty tested turbo and 4 cylinder that’s been in numerous reliable Toyota vehicles already. New upgraded interior and actual steering feel. A seat position that’s not a hippie couch like 3rd gen. Useable low range torque now at 1700 rpm. If you take care of the non hybrid variant this truck will last just as long as 3rd gens and hold there value the same. I’m willing to pay 12k more than the 3rd gen for all that. (With options in that price too)

    • @Cisero1000
      @Cisero1000 4 місяці тому

      In my area dealers have SR5 with the SR5 upgrade package which sits at just under $45k or either the TRD Sport @ $30 cheaper than that or TRD OR at just over $45k. Both TRD trims have the 14” screen but other than that no options/upgrades.
      Essentially SR5 with some features like sliding back glass, front sensors, trailer brake controller, JBL or one of the TRD trims at base with nothing extra for about the same price give or take a couple hundred $$

    Here we are in June, and Toyota is just now starting to trickle out a few Xtracabs. At this point, I'm willing to wait for 2025. It sucks that they don't offer it in higher trims such as the Sport of Off Road. The SR5 is as good as it gets if you need a 4WD. The Prerunner looks nice, but is useless in snow country.

    Man, warning chimes are so annoying and the infamous Toyota beep is no exception, hopefully that can at least be turned off especially when most vehicles nowadays automatically lock after a couple of minutes just in case you forget, so no need at least in my eyes for the annoying chimes. The dash chime should only do so if necessary to convey a warning to something. Non the less, I prefer a natural aspirated V6 or higher just in smoothness alone. I get the turbo charged motors on 4 cylinders but you can't get that same smoothness with a higher displacement and more cylinders especially in the exhaust note dept. Toyota and Honda motors are extremely noisy but seem to last a long time, you'd think they could make engines more silent as with modern diesels compared to older ones. I think vehicles nowadays sound more like diesels with all the clacking they do at idle. Bring back the whisper quite running motors of old. But I digress. Thanks for the night drive review and breaking in your protege 🤙🏼🇺🇲

    • @MaximumDIYGarage
      @MaximumDIYGarage 8 місяців тому +1

      The loud idle is likely due to fight pressure fuel pump for direct injection. Luckily this engine has both, direct and multi-port injection modes.

    • @callofdutyguy9
      @callofdutyguy9 7 місяців тому

      It’s loud because it has direct injection and the injectors clatter when they are turned on. I personally like the engines louder on trucks. Quiet engines don’t give me a good impression. They sound weak and I like the trucks to sound strong.

    people like driving a manual transmission because you become part of the truck. They like to DRIVE instead of being driven. Todays automatics are so complicated they have a mind of their own. I had a hard enough time settling for a six cylinder, coming down from an eight. A four-cylinder pickup is still out of the question, no matter how much they dress it up. Despite the specifications which I question, my six is far more powerful than your four. Toyota only cares about emission compliance, not customer quality anymore. That's what you're buying dude! 😬
