This video is one I made year ago to show you what parts you need to rebuild a Honda Engine F20B H22 B16 B18 B20 K20 K24
I talk about my OBX LSD, my arias 85mm custom pistons, ks tuned F20B custom rods, and Devcon F-2 epoxy block guard along with my piston ring grinder, king race bearings and all the other parts.
The pistons are 10:1 compression.

My house is the same . Basement garage. 1925 house . Have my 69 ss 496bbc Chevelle. And my crx in here.
My garage looks just like this , h22a closed block , 2 f20b heads ,1 h22 head. Turbo . S300. Forged pistons rods. Thanks for the help . I think I'ma try the block support too. Wish I could show a picture. My garage looks the same lol. Kelso WA.
Haha you don’t need much!
Part #s for main, con rod bearings, and thrust washers for the f20b
Thanks guys for all of your support! I’m in the midst of repainting my engine bay right now! This $800 5th gen prelude has been through a lot with the previous owner including a front end collision where a use rad support was welded in very poorly...the used rad support didn’t fit well and had some surface rust so I am welding her back as best I can and repainting the engine bay so this old girl can look pretty once again. Plus we need a clean stage for this f20b motor which is together and awaiting a twin disc competition clutch hopefully!
Builds can be stressful when things don’t go smoothly and you are shelling out all that cash. All of your comments and committed subscriptions help keep my motivation up! Hang in there with me until I post up another part of this journey. #sendoil 🤙🏻😎
Question bro do u have any 22a close deck for sale? Im in a very need of one rite now 50mm
All out my man! Sold the last one I had about 7 months ago.
Subbed because I’m about to build my f20 for boost as well! Love it keep it up!
Rumble_Doodz yeeeees we need more boosted f20b’s in this great 🌎👍🏻 I’m almost done the garage! Just need to install the doors and run electric!
@@thestateofreal2533 SAME! Hopefully gonna be picking up a 4th gen prelude soon. plan is 550
Subbed! Looks like a promising build, F/H all day!
Mario avalos Thanks! I put the LSD into the trans yesterday. Deleted evap, egr, abs, and I’m putting the last coat of clear coat on the engine bay! Motor in soon hopefully! I milled out an area for direct turbo housing wastegate mount. That’s gotta be welded up yet. Trying to post more here soon.
@@thestateofreal2533 nice, getting close huh. Curious to see how you like that obx lsd, I haven't seen it used too much compared to the mfactory and quaife or just the stock honda lsd.
Yea me either and part of that is the bad rep obx has with these lsd’s. They were apparently over torqued from the factory and had faulty preload washers. I installed the rebuild kit and after going through that (and being a machinist) I noticed that their tolerances are not that great. I’m gonna still send it though! Quaife and obx are both torsen differentials. Internally they are identical. Mfactory is completely different.
@@thestateofreal2533 gotcha, had no idea they were different but hope it works out! I have an na f20b EG currently but running a h22 trans non lsd and even at my power levels the tires break loose sometimes, so I can only imagine how bad It would get with a turbo lol.
Mario avalos yea agreed. The lsd should help with the torque steer also 🤞🏻The lsd cost me $200 used and a $35 rebuild kit...still cheaper than an oem lsd and an mfactory so we shall see! I’m excited. I’m getting married in July and hoping to have it all tuned up before then.
subd for this build.
Abishai Israel thanks!
Awesome stuff. Keeps me motivated. Nice parts. Looks like more then a budget.. @kstuned.
I_auto_enthusiast haha yea honestly the rods were the only thing I couldn’t find used or discounted new. KStuned makes a great products and I was able to purchase them on sale for below bisimoto’s price so I counted that as a win! F20b builds aren’t very common these day but are becoming more popular!
@@thestateofreal2533 I've though about doing one myself. But with the money already in the h22. I could sleeve it and keep pushing for more.
I_auto_enthusiast my suggestion to anyone who has an h22 is, if you’re goal is under 450-500hp and on a budget...buy used h beam rods and used set of forged je pistons. Have the block bored/honed to .0055 piston to wall clearance and you will be fine. Piston slap is gonna be a little louder but it will be fine. I have three buddies who have been driving this setup as a daily and drag application for 3-4 years/seasons.
@@thestateofreal2533 sound like a interesting way to go. Not sure how I'd feel about that. Gives me something to think about for a while.
I_auto_enthusiast to each their own! I would love to do all of these types of builds just as proof to the public.
That tbird is an attention getter!
Soo, if mahle gold series works for frm sleeves, why the f20b? Why not jus go h23a BT with some mahles pistons, turbo maybe and call it a day? they do say theres no replacement for displacement.
Ayyy bout time!
How much you pay for that lsd?!
Little under $201 😂
I do a lot of custom work for the seller that I don’t charge him for or much at all so hence the low price. Just hoping she holds up!
Goals
Have any stock f20b pistons for sale?
Seen your Build on Insta I’m subscribed man I’ve been B series for years and years been thinking hard about H22 or F20B for the teg lately
Mark Wallace thanks for subscribing! The f20b is definitely easier to start with...iron sleeves, more square setup for boost, high reving, and vtec! H series can be a little more tricky with the frm sleeves.
F20b is a much stronger bottom end then h more oil flow in f20. Thats why h22 have the connecting rod problems.
Iv always done b motors. Going big block turbo crx . Lots of work to do . Can't wait for spring. This is my winter project.
I'm going to be in japan for a few years and I plan on trying to get some performance engine parts for my f20b while i am there assuming they have a better aftermarket for the motor. Is there a good aftermarket for this motor in japan?
The Soviet Pinecone Honestly, I would be speculating but I would assume so. The f20b is the Honda Accord SiR motor which is one of the jdm “performance motors” of that time. It was in multiple different car platforms as well. It has the h22 type s cams and throttle body in the manual f20b version
The Soviet Pinecone I’m curious as to what you find in Japan! Check back with me if you remember and let me know what you find!
@@thestateofreal2533 I brought a Torneo Sir-t back lmao. After market doesn't really exist in Japan outside big ticket items we can get here.
what bore pistons were those? and are they for the f20,h22 or k20?
F20b 85mm custom pistons by arias
Awesome! Looks like I might have to go that route or use some backwards k20 pistons
@@Dgkman2004 traum sells 85.5mm pistons for the f20b. Honestly that’s your best bet as you will have cylinder wear to account for.
Hey is the h22A frm sleeved as well even being a closed deck block?
Jay Kong yes it is. There were some h22’s that were said to be iron sleeved from the factory but I have never heard of anyone finding them.
Thanks bro
Jay Kong no problem! Don’t fear the forum about frm cylinders. Mahle gold series pistons work if properly installed by a shop.
H23 non vtec obd1 had the steel sleeves but no h22. F20b all day
Overhead camera maybe?
matt gixxer that would be awesome!
THE STATE OF REAL subbed
matt gixxer come again? Subbed?
Good stuff man I just subbed cuz I have a h22 prelude I want to build and I might have some questions in the future if you dont mind me asking lol
anthony escalante you came to the right place! Ask away! If I don’t know the answer I have a friend who is a wizard on topics I’m not haha
anthony escalante my wizard friend and I are collecting parts for a collaborative h22a4 build with s2000 pistons (Honda’s only frm production compatible alloy pistons) $500 turbo ready short block h build.
Hey! I'm building a f20b with a h22a head where did you get the pistons ! Thanks !!
The pistons I got from a guy who had hem custom made and then never used them. They are arias f20b pistons. They cost him $666 new. Btw I ended up going with an f20b head and h22 Brian Crower 88lb valve strings with titanium retainers. If you don’t know...the h22 head is the same as the f20b...it just has 1mm bigger intake valves. 1mm =.039 inches or close to 1/32 of an inch. Not really much gained there besides cool factor.
I know I haven’t added anything in months but the motor is all together in the car and I’m breaking in the clutch! 300 miles left to go!
Thanks for the information man! Hope to see a video of it soon!
I’m hoping to do a quick recap this weekend before I leave for a month. I’m in the army national guard. 🇺🇸
