great tip on the low kicks, all too often people forget to take an angle or step off line; for me ideally, i take the angle off a back step and blast it, harder for them to check it that way

The knee kick advice reminds me of Fedor vs. Arlovski's "flying knee" in 2009. Classic. Arlovski's striking was on point, making him too confident.

    champion content, thanks!
In the SFX Championships in the first junior round the SMAFO guy started off stong but succumbed to constant punches. He just turtled up. What can one do when under that sort of pressure?
    Thanks million

Awesome vids, love your stuff Gabriel. Could I request a video on how to deal with powerful fighters? I have an amateur bout coming up against a guy that some of my sparring partners have trained with and they say he has a good amount of power. Any tips would be massively appreciated. Keep the great content coming!

    1. When performing straight knees, also defend your head by extending your arms or using guards.
    2. When kick is allowed, protect your chin on the side when slipping down.
    3. Avoid moving forward too quickly; always maintain a solid base and a steady pace.
    4. Similar to point 2, when throwing a big overhand, protect your face on the side.
    5. For a low kick, move your head out of the center line or step sideways. Combining both is more effective. Alternatively, use the Japanese style by extending one arm.
    *Anything I missed?😆

I use the overhand frequently. It has a high percentage chance to land plus it can set up other strikes like body shots, especially when you feint an overhand. That said, I took a very nasty knee to the body while I was throwing an overhand. It is probably in the top 3 of worst shots I've taken in 13 years.

If you have one hand up, and the other one down during slips, and you do a lot of slipping/faking, won't that increase the number of times where you have one of your hands not up? 🤔

I saw this kid get KO'd SO HARD from trying to slip in a Muay Thai fight, without protecting his slipping side of the head. It was disturbing. He slipped right into a full-pace roundhouse, multiplying the force. Poor bastard did the samba on the canvas for about 30 seconds after...
